They gazed at each other , not able to look away ... he leaned in , his mind a buzz as he fastened the mangal sutra around her neck , his nose almost touching her pallu... she kept her head down, eyes automatically closed , hands mashing her skirt , along her knees ... her mind was blank, too...

the pandit struggled through the floor of his hall, blood sprouting incessantly from the wound over his back ...he couldn't breath , he couldn't see...his sweaty n trembling hands struggled to reach his phone over the top of a near by table... he dialed a number , his eyes straining, groaning in pain...
