Narayani Devi said the other day, that one thing people forgot is that Krishna was the biggest chaliya (deceivor) and set the biggest deception in history in motion..

What is she referring to? I cant seem to recollect what was this biggest deception Shri Krishna set in motion? Can someone help?

I think the biggest deception occured in the Mahabharat. Duryodhan's mother told him to shower in the river and come in front of completely naked...since she had blindfolded her eyes since her engagement to Duryodhan's father and was a big Shiv bhaktini, she was going to bless him with the merit and credit of all her prayers and tapasya in the form of a shield...every part of Duryodhan which was not covered would then be covered with this "shield".

When Duryodhan was walking back from the river to his mother Krishna saw him and understood what was happening. Since it was vital for the Pandavs to win the war, he cheated and knowingly convinced Duryodhan to cover his body essentials with something before going infront of his mother...eventually Duryodhan covered himself with leaves and therefore that part of his body was not protected by the "shield" which is mother blessed him with..

Hey, that makes so much sense...(drawing parallels).. Thanks so much for your insight sdhk. (I hereby hand you my genius cap)!!

So Narayani Devi is basically good (and on Janki's side) but has to resort to doing "extra" stuff to maintain Janki's edge and make sure that in the end Janki wins.. In that sense, her behaviour is like Krishna's where she connects the dots, and people just play their roles, but eventually things go her (Narayani's) way.....like foiling Duryodhana's shield to make sure he doesnt become invincible.. and then a few more I thought of were.. getting Karna out of the way (by getting his kundals and kavach).. and the story of the elephant (ashwathama).. and the solar eclipse (for Jaidrath's death).. etc

nice!

Do you think the writers thought it out this far, when they initially touted Janki and Narayani as Arjuna and Krishna or things just "fell" into place? I personally dont think they did .. but I like it!

Thanks again sdhk!

YES! Exactly!! When she says that Krishna was a deceiver, she does not mean that she (as Janki's Krishna) is evil. Krishna deceived because there was no other way for righteousness to prevail - they had tried peace talks and things. Because Arjun (Janki) was always weaker and could never see the bigger picture that Krishna (as Supreme God) could see, it was harder for Krishna to reconcile him with the fact that he would have to harm his own. So, Krishna had to step in. Even in the end of the battle at Kurukshetra, when Bheem and Duryodhan were battling with their maces, both were evenly matched. But Krishna gestured to Bheem to hit Duryodhan on his thigh, since that was the weakest part of his body. But according to kshatriya war rules, fighting below thge top half was not allowed - it betrayed the warrior code. Nevertheless, Krishna knew that this was the only way to defeat the evil Duryodhana and for the battle to finally end.

Maasi is the same - she knows that she needs to be deceptive in order for Janki to win - because Janki won't resort to that herself😉

In response to genius' question - i don't think the writers planned this far...i personally think things fell into place....when you are using an epic to draw parallels into your story...its often easier to keep going back to the original epic.

An in anycase, the mahabharata itself is a parallel to one's life...think about it...you fight for your rights...you fight to make your fair share at work and even within us there is a constant battle between our soul and the 5 elements of evil...its not necessary even in real life that all brother love ear other fairly and equally....how many times have we heard of 1 brother throwing out another brother?
