Thanks tvbug, redwine and Ipoona for the engrossing analyses. tvbug, that is one stupendous write up. I came across some of the most amazing writers becos of this show! It certainly needs emotions and characters of altogether different class to cast a spell that lasts this long and IPK indeed has a few such!thank u all.

Thank you, Horizon. 😊 As you say, IPK is in a class of its own. It's the kind of serial that does all the work for you. And all you have to do as a writer then is to try and capture what's happened, while knowing you can never really do justice to what you've experienced.

HE WAS SHIT SCARED OF KHUSHI & HER EFFECT ON HIM ...

Cause if u see each scene when he has uttered these above lines ... the meaning is very Clear ... I LOVE YOU ... DONT LEAVE ME EVER ... a line which he finally tells her in the farmhouse just before he consummates his marriage .. I WONT BE ABLE TO LIVE WITHOUT YOU ...

Completely agree...Ruby... An alpha male...who is superiorly confident...tackles life head on... Has a brass tacks way of dealing with every thing... Even his past tragedy... Is now on a slippery slide ... Falling into a dark abyss ...He doesn't know how to fight this one... tries to beat it yelling and hating her... Kash mein tum say mohobat na karta... ( not sure if these are the actual words... but the intent in the tagline was same) have loved all the scenes of his angst... Couldn't you feel that the oxygen was sucked out of the room...

Let me give u the significance of the step back ... how much ever he wants to push her away ... he is drawn towards her ... hence he always STEPS forward towards her .. ( hence Arnav said ILU first) ... but KHUSHI .. who is overwhelmed by this fire she sees in his eyes ... always steps back .. & thats when ARNAV gets angry ... the anger is simply ... I despite the war in me .. am walking towards u .. but ur stepping back .. when u shud move forth ...

Love... Love what you said... He time and time again ... in his own completely contrary way tries to let her know what he is feeling... and then explodes in anger coz she is not admitting what he knows she must feel.. He is incensed that how can he be going thru this alone... remember he yells... Do you even know what I am going thru...

When was his first verbal admission of love??? For me...his tourtured yell... Khushi ...tum asay nahi ja...When she is leaving for Lucknow...

My heart broke...😊 And the next for me was "yeh tum Kay kar rahi ho" ... I don't want to discuss that prematurely coz it is my most treasured scene...sabra ka phal meetha hota hai...

KHUSHI stops him by just putting her hand on his shoulder from killing the goon ... KHUSHI 's presence calmed him .. calmed his soul ... Hence .. the significance of the dialog ... SAANSEIN RUK JAAYENGI ... hence the significance of the hand on heart to connect their heart beats when khushi lay dead ... HE FELT ALIVE when he was with KHUSHI .. so was it any wonder he believed he could bring her to LIFE with his heartbeat joining with hers ...

Ruby... How can I be falling in love again...

Capability of DEPTH of feeling .. that Arnav was scared of.

The sentence that is the backbone of the story... Coz really did he just hate her .. Or was nasty coz she crashed his fashion show or that he thinks she is a gold digger...NO ... It was all about his reaction to her...

Arnav Singh Raizada was a ONE DIMENSIONAL CHARACTER ... what he felt he felt from DAY 1 of meeting KHUSHI ... are the feelings which stay with him till the last episode of IPK ...

SO IPK was not about exposing layers of Arnav Singh Raizada's character .. it was a journey of a boy to the path of love ..

Ruby ... Your boldest statement yet...I completely agree he was so straight froward and simple that he was complex...The introduction of ASR...and the story... A rich, arrogant, angst ridden, alpha male who falls in love with someone completely unsuitable...rejects his emotions...and then his subsequent journey to love...simple enough!!!

But it is in the story telling and Barun Sobti's nuanced portrayal that the complexity is added...Arrogant??? Class conscience ??? Not really... Quick to anger ... Well may be sometimes ... Judgmental ...Not at all!!! He is really is very fair... You are right... All this was there from day one... It just took 398 episodes to tell...😛

Both you and Sabs left me floored with the airport discussion... Nothing for me to say... Well maybe .. The pompom... A apt name for the most frivolous... most inessential part of an outfit... ...A tinselly adornment ... Bit like Khushi maybe ??? ...Yet for Khushi ... The most essential... The most loved part... ( I am making this up... She could have loved Gota more... 😛 ) Quintessentially Khushi ...

He had already let her know what he thinks of those stupid things... Even as he pries her hand away...he takes a part of her ... A memento...His good luck charm... His pearl ...

First of all, thank you guys .. i am humbled by the encouragement i receive here ... thank you ..But honestly ... the Kudos go to the Makers of the show .. the thots .. the ideas .. the story .. the magic was theirs ... i just put to paper .. the beauty i see on screen ..

Whenever i do an analysis or a write up of a particular scene .. i always leave behind a couple of points .. hoping that someone else catches what i do .. someone else was as touched as me ..

Poona .. thanx for pointing out the pom pom special ... the beauty of the pom pom grab to me was another most heart wrenching bittersweet moment of IPK ...

Everytime Arnav kept something of KHUSHI with himself .. was him holding her back in his heart .. that was just a resonance of the promo that they played out .. "kaash mein tumse mohabbat kar paata" ... the fact that love resided in his heart ... but he would not let it come out .. & the day he was ready to embrace that love & let it come out .. was the day that love was thrown back into his face ...

This is what makes us writers wax lyrical about this show .. the makers made it so easy to write ... a teaser promo of the show .. was woven so beautifully in the track ... that from the second episode .. the hero keeps a momento or if i may ... " a yaadgaar" of the heroine ... & from the second episode itself .. The hero marks her as HIS ... while pushing her away from him ...

what better way to enumerate .. "kaash mein tumse mohabbat kar paata"

The title of the show .. "iss Pyaar ko kya naam doon?" & its tag line (mohabbat door jaane na de nafrat paas aane na de) were so well justified by the makers ...that... they got a satisfied audience ... an audience which preferred the END rather than a DILUTION ... Kudos to the makers for inciting this love & devotion thru a simple tale of love amongst its viewers

First of all, Ruby, thanks for inviting me to open DC. 😊 I'm still awed by my audacity in accepting. This is my first attempt at an analysis of any sort. So guys please don't expect the usual incisiveness for which DC is known, rather please treat it as an ice-breaker to get the discussion going on the epic Arnav-Khushi parting at the airport.

fantastic 👏, one wouldn't even know this is your first attempt
