Chapter 13 :
"You - young man ; do you mind helping an old lady with her shopping?" , Arsha asked , but commanded at the same time. Poor Veer didn't dare refuse , and smilingly took the bags from the woman.
"What's your name lad?"
" It's VEER Aunty" .
"Ahhh , such a powerful name ... U know , if I ever got married - I would've named my son -Veer! In fact - some years ago , a patient , at the hospital I worked ... gave birth to a baby boy - I named him Veer!" , she stated proudly. Veer panicked hearing THAT story , he suddenly realised who the woman was.
His mother told him about her ... but it was only now , that he met her! " U know - it would be some miracle - if you were that same child" , she told and wiped away a lone tear that slipped out of the corner of her eye. She saw Veer's glum face and decided to lighten their moods ... "Now tell me something - are all you boys , born without the shopping gene?"
"Huh?" "My nephew did grocery shopping the other day , and half the things he bought ... was wrong!" - What a waste of money that was! That's why they say ... IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DONE RIGHT - THEN DO IT YOURSELF! So , here I am ; doing MY OWN SHOPPING!" Both laughed .
"Thank you my child" , she told Veer as he placed her parcels at the side of her seat ; both waved to each other as the bus drove away.

Uday met Maya once more , he was rather optimistic of their future. Alas , he was not meant to have his cake and eat it too. He had barely given a peck on her cheek , when Maya asked once more ... "Are u leaving them for me?" "Wh , what! Maya - that's not possible! ... I thought , the other day , after we kissed ... we could resume where we left off!", he said as he neared her ; taking her in his arms.
She pushed his hands off brashly - "No Uday , it's either ME or HER! I thought very carefully about our future , and we DO have a very bright future ahead of us ... but our future DOES NOT INCLUDE your EXCESS BAGGAGE!"
"Maya , PLEASE - I LOVE YOU DAMMIT!" "Doesn't look that way to me!" , she grabbed her purse and walked out , leaving a bewildered Uday behind ... : "If it were JUST about YOU & ARTHI , I'd choose YOU ... but I have my little girl to think about ; and SHE COMES BEFORE ANYONE ELSE!"
Maya was just focusing on Uday's words as she walked back home ... not in her wildest dreams , did she think , he'll choose Arthi over her. She hated Arthi , but more than that , she hated Uday - because he would not leave his family for her, she had given him EVERYTHING, he claims he loves her , yet ; he can't or rather WON'T LEAVE his family for her! She should have known after all these encounters with him. " HE WAS A PIG ... & SHE SHOULD' VE KNOWN BETTER! She was here for revenge , but her STUPID EMOTIONS GOT IN THE WAY"
Despite her self-talk , she couldn't let go of the strong feelings she had developed for Uday ... Uday was HERS!!!!! She would not allow anyone to come between them, wife or ANYONE. He can't leave his wife na, but what if she is dead ... he would then have no problem to come back to her na? YES!!!!! Arthi had to die, and then only would she get Uday, HER UDAY ... forever with her!

Maya reached the cottage and saw Veer sleeping on the couch. She was furious and lashed out at Veer, she threw her purse on him ...
" whoa, it looks like someone is in a violent mood today" said Veer
M : its time for someone to die!
V : oh, so you FINALLY feel its time to finish Udayveer?
M : ... not Uday - ARTHI !!!!!!!! I want her to be cut into pieces and fed to the wolves!!!!!
V : but why ?? I mean...
M : I don't want to hear anything , just kill her , ok, I want her DEAD , ASAP!
V : I'm NOT doing it , she's an innocent!
M : are you questioning me now? When I say kill ... YOU just do it!
V : I want a reason why ...
M : UDAY!
V : f**k it! U fell for him , didn't you?
M : Mind your language ... DON'T FORGET WHO YOU'RE TALKING TO!
V : Sorry! But , it's because of HIM , that you want Arthi out of the way. RIGHT?
M : Hmmm!!!!! SHE'S in my way!!!
V : Forget it! She's in YOUR way - u do it YOURSELF! My targets were ARYAN , SAMEER, AKASH ... & UDAYVEER. I already took the life of SANUSHA , and I regret it everyday of my life ... I'm NOT KILLING Arthi , I happen to like her , she's a wonderful lady!
M : "WONDERFUL LADY?????" ... Humphhh! Are u forgetting that it's because of HER that your father never married YOUR MOTHER?
She shook Veer by his arm ... " Are u forgetting the pain , your mother underwent? Are u forgetting the promise you made about getting your mother justice?" She walked upstairs , but her words rung in Veer's mind. He did make a promise about getting his mother justice , for the wrong done unto her. "Perhaps it's time to get rid of the FINAL GUY , instead of THOSE NEAR AND DEAR TO HIM, he smirked.

Veer was super angry. Udayveer had to die ... NOW!!!! "SHE" did not want revenge now, she was blinded by love - he would not be so, he would take revenge for his mother.
He waited for Uday to leave his office, he always grabbed a cup of coffee from the restaurant opposite to his office before he left. He did the same , even today! He was looking at his watch, any moment now, Uday would come, and then he saw Uday coming out, he switched on the engine of his truck, hit the accelerator and sped towards him.
Uday was about to be hit by the truck when someone pulled him away from the truck's path. He hit the ground, as he looked up he saw his saviour leaving him without a backward glance, her hair was oiled and she wore a simple salwar & she smelled of sandalwood, he put his hands on his head and tried to remember that familiar fragrance.
People gathered around Uday and helped him get up, when he finally remembered ... ONLY 1 PERSON SMELLED LIKE THAT : " Manyata" he called out.
