AarYa OS
Love Beckons
Yash and Aarti continued to feel uncomfortable after their marriage. Yash used to avoid her many a time and Aarti was too shy to even look into his eyes. She only was completely adept in taking care of the kids --- Palak and Payal loved her to the core and Yash was relieved to see that in her he had found a true mother for his girls. Yash was also an amazing Dad to Ansh and SP and Gayatri were glad with this whole "Punar Vivah".
But was this the only aim of this remarriage? Did it also not demand a close friendship between the couple which wasn't happening because each one was unable to let go of the past to look what lay right in front of them.
Aarti could easily forget Prashant for he had betrayed her but she wasn't ready to allow another man into her heart and life so easily. One --- here I refer to Yash ---had to work hard to get there!
Yash could not forget Arpita as he loved her immensely and so could not betray her and allow another lady to enter his --- Wasn't this being unfair to his love?
This went on for a few days but as they say with time --- we have to redefine our old beliefs and circumstances force themselves for one to do so with ease and conviction!
**************
The three children had gone off for a school picnic and Yash and Aarti were left alone at home. Of course the other members of the family were there but not anywhere close to the AarYa room.
Aarti being the extra protective mother started worrying about whether the kids would have been safe with the school crowd, did they eat on time or no, would they have slept and so on. She kept tossing and turning on the bed.
Yash noticed this and made a little noise to draw her attention.
Aarti: Yashji, did you call me?
Yash: Aartiji, why aren't you sleeping peacefully tonight?
Aarti got up and sat on the bed now. As always she wasn't looking at Yash --- her Yashji.
Aarti: I wonder if the kids would be fine.
Yash: Of course they would. They are not the only ones who have gone on an overnight excursion from school.
Yash too wasn't looking at Aarti. Arpita's picture was right in front of him and he looked at her and spoke all the time to have no guilt what-so-ever!
Aarti: But Yashji, we should not have sent them.
Yash: But they have already gone. Maybe next time we'll reconsider. Right now please sleep.
Aarti lay down on bed and tried to close her eyes when Yash kept staring at Arpita. Suddenly he saw the picture smile at him.
Yash: Why are you smiling?
Aarti: Me? And smiling?
Yash comes back to his senses and says: No Aartiji, I was talking to'well nothing really.
He did not want to sound silly by owning up that he was talking to his deceased wife Arpita.
After sometime, Aarti again heard him speak and this time she switched on the side lamp of the bed and actually turned around to see Yash. She had to as he wasn't behaving normally that night.
Yash saw her too and got up and sat down sheepishly.
Aarti: Yashji, are you alright?
Yash: Yes, Aartiji. Actually I am not used to being without kids so that's why.
Aarti smiles lightly and Yash noticed that she had such an innocent smile.
Aarti: What did you do when you had no kids then?
Yash: Aartiji, Then Arpita and myself used to do all kinds of strange things-----
Then he realised what he said and stops and looks at Aarti.
Aarti could see that he was missing his wife too and the children's absence was adding up to his distressed feelings.
Aarti: Yashji, you are so lucky to at least have some fond memories to take you through troubled times. I don't even have them as Prashant never even saw our child and left me much before Ansh was born. So you can imagine how my life could be without kids as it is devoid of meaning then.
Yash could see Aarti's beautiful eyes getting filled with tears as she said this.
Yash was a man with a tender heart. He could not see this and so promptly moved forward his hands to Aarti's cheeks and wiped away the first tear which had begun to roll down.
It was the first touch and Aarti felt a great sense of comfort in it.
Aarti held his hands to remove it and that was Yash's first feel of her soft hands.
They both looked at each other as they still hadn't let go of their hands.
Aarti quickly shifted her glance downwards and wiped away her eyes and looked at Yash and smiled.
Yash smiled back and somehow he landed up asking her: Aartiji, shall we go out for a walk? Maybe we'll feel better and also tired which will enable us to sleep faster and well.
Aarti agrees and wanted to change but Yash told her that she was fine the way she was and they both come down --- the entire Scindhia mansion was fast asleep --- they open the door and come to the lawns.
Their walk was different from other couples --- for they walked maintaining a good two feet distance between them ---- but the respite was that finally they were at least looking at each other and talking.
One topic led to the other and soon they found that they were indeed quite compatible. Yash never knew that he had so much to tell her --- and Aarti never imagined that Yash could be so cool in his conversations.
Time flew by and soon Aarti realised that it was getting too late and they needed to return to their room.
So Yash and Aarti begin their journey back to the mansion and this time both found that they were walking a lot slower than normal.
Yash: So looks like we are indeed tired as I had told you. Our pace is so slow --- isn't it?
Aarti this time looks at him straight into his eyes and says: I am not tired Yashji.
Yash blushes a little as he looks down for a moment and then looks back at her and asks: Then why are we walking so slowly?
Aarti smiles and doesn't say anything.
Yash gradually walks a little closer to her and Aarti could feel his presence very well.
Both continued to walk but slower and now the distance between them was narrowing.
Suddenly Yash's hand brushed over Aarti's and she felt a shiver --- a beautiful feeling after ages.
She could not let go of this moment. Yash's talk that night had convinced her about him as a true gentleman. She quickly but gently held on to his hand.
Yash reciprocated by tightening his grip over hers --- but just enough to convey his feelings of acceptance without hurting her.
Both walked now closer and looking downwards and not realising they had turned around back to the lawns.
There was a silence between them --- which engulfed the air --- but each could hear the feelings of the other through the gentle touch of their fingers.
They wished the night to go on forever. They loved this heavenly moment.
Soon, Yash stopped causing Aarti to stop too.
She wasn't now looking at him. Yes, she knew she had expressed herself to him in other ways. She was hopeful of a gesture from him now.
Yash did not disappoint her.
He pulled her hand which he was holding all along gently towards him.
Yash: Aartiji, May I say something?
Aarti: After me please.
Yash: Okay --- go ahead.
Aarti: Please remove the "ji" from now on when you take my name.
Yash smiles.
Aarti: That will help us.
Yash: In what, Aartij---?
He stops without completing the "ji"---
Aarti smiles and says: In breaking the barriers and feeling closer Yashji.
Yash: But you just said "ji".
Aarti: I can Yashji but you need not. You're elder to me and I respect you.
Yash: But I want you to not only respect me but also -----
Aarti looks at him to see if he could complete the sentence which he had
started.
Yash did: To love me Aarti.
Aarti blushes and smiles looking away from him.
Yash comes forward and lifts her head and asks her to look at him.
Aarti complies.
Yash: I hope you really aren't tired?
Aarti tried to look down but Yash kept her head right up in position and wanted her to answer looking at him.
Aarti: Not for you, Yashji!
Saying so, she rested herself in his chest allowing him to embrace her. She could feel his longing to hold her forever.
After a few minutes of hugging Yash whispered: Shall we continue in our room, in a better position?
Aarti closed her eyes with bashfulness as she knew what lay in store for her --- for them --- that night.
The magic had just begun for a great love story of AarYa!
For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.
