I was watching the Rano Sahil conversation today and it just got me thinking. Taking the characters out what it the best course of action for the child. I think all children have the right to be born because life is beautiful. But then I think am I being selfish by saying that because it makes me feel morally superior when the child in question will probably face a lot of hardship and pain throughout its life. I have seen a lot of parents take fantastic care of diabled children sometimes to the detriment of their able bodied children but the child always suffers in someway or the other. In today's day an age when abortion is relatively easy (medically speaking not emotionally) it the right thing to do for the child is to abort it.
Point in case of the current child. I think Rano will be a tigress mother protecting it and nuturing it. It will have a great massi, grandfather and a few other member of the family. It will have all the material wealth to make its life easier. It will also have a father who will not be able to deal with imperfection and a granmother that will hate it. Not to exclude the hardship that life would present and the little little challenges everyday.
I can see Rano's sentiment that all child is precious and I absolutly agree and commend her for it. But what is the right decision for the child? Didability is not the end all of everything, it in most cases makes the person stronger. But why does the child have to face all the hardships and challenges that such a disability brings.
These were just some questions going on in my mind. I don't think there is any right answer.
Cheers,
