CHAPTER-38.

The next morning,Prithvi was getting out of the police station,where he had come to file a report against the goons..The police had reassured him that they would look into the matter,and had also thanked Prithvi for having the ready state of mind,to get them evidences,with which they might easily find the goon.

Prithvi was almost out of the police station,when he bumped into Thakur Ramdhari Singh..The two of them stared at each other with an awkward silence,both startled at the sudden meeting..

"Mr. Ramdhari.."Prithvi finally acknowledged,but did not offer his hand for shaking as he usually did,since he remembered the last two times,Ramdhari had ignored his polite overture..

"Prithvi..How are you..?"Asked Ramdhari with a faint smile,surprising Prithvi,as he offered his hand to Prithvi for shaking.

"I'm fine,thank you.."Prithvi replied shaking the older man's hand,still amazed at his sudden change of behavior.Prithvi had let go of his hand,when Ramdhari spoke.

"So,how have you-"Ramdhari's sentence was cut in mid sentence,as a police constable came running out of the station,calling Prithvi's name..

"Oh,Mr. Prithvi thank God you are still here..Or else I'd have to call you up..My sir wanted to know,if you ,by any chance have noticed,if the goon who had attacked you last night,had a deep cut on his cheek?A goon of-"

"I did not see his face officer.It was too dark.."Prithvi cut off the constable's sentence,and turned to leave..

"Okay,see you later,Mr. Ramdhari."Prithvi gave a polite nod to Ramdhari and was about to leave,when Ramdhari's firm hand on his shoulder,stopped him.

Slowly Prithvi turned back to face the older man,whose face was etched with concern and worry,which shocked Prithvi even more.

"You were attacked last night?!Are you alright,beta?!You weren't hurt were you?!"Ramdhari asked in a tense voice.

"Not me.It was Me-"Abruptly Prithvi stopped himself from saying Meera's name.He was sure her parents were not aware of her childlike nightly ventures.As no sane parents would surely allow their adult and sinfully beautiful daughter to roam around alone at night..Prithvi decided.

"You were not attacked?!Then who-"

"Yes..Yes,I was attacked..And I'm fine but unfortunately the goon escaped."Finished Prithvi.

"Oh.."Said Ramdhari with a thoughtful frown..

Prithvi knew it was time he left,before the older man barged him with more questions,and he let slip something about Meera,as he was a poor liar.

"I should be leaving now Mr. Ramdhari..I've some urgent work."Said Prithvi and instantly walked away,got in his SUV,and drove off before Ramdhari could ask him anything further or call him back again.And a thoughtful Ramdhari watched his departure quietly..

"Prithvi asked you about the curse?!!But why?!!"Asked Sudha Singh to Panditji,as she stood alone with him,after her prayers in the temple.

"I don't know Thakurain..But he had said something about breaking the curse.."Said a confused Panditji.

"Breaking the curse..?!But you didn't tell him anything about his mother,did you?!"Asked a worried and tense Sudha.

"No..I..-PRITHVI BETA?!!"Exclaimed out Panditji suddenly,on seeing a frowning Prithvi staring at him..

Sudha also turned in shock to face the temple's entrance where Prithvi was standing with a frown on his face.Both Sudha and Panditji stood in tense silence,afraid to speak,and worried of how much Prithvi had heard of their conversation..

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!!"Prithvi boomed out in an abnormally loud voice,his voice ringing in the empty temple,and his frown now even deeper,as he stared in shock at Panditji..

Both Sudha and Panditji,exchanged a worried look with each other,as their worst nightmare seemed to have come true..And it seemed Prithvi had heard their conversation..When Prithvi snapped out again..

"But how could you just fix a meeting without first confirming it with me?!!"

This time when Sudha stared at him in confusion,she finally realized Prithvi was actually talking on phone with a headphone attached to his ear,which made her sigh out in relief and with a smile she turned to reassure Panditji.

"He's talking on phone..He didn't hear our conversation.."She said in a whisper.

Finally Prithvi disconnected the line and noticed Panditji and his Sudha kaki,standing in the temple quietly,waiting for him to finish his conversation..With an apologetic smile,he greeted both of them.

"Namaste Kaki..Namaste Panditji..Sorry I'd an urgent call from my office.."He explained in an apologetic voice.

"It's okay beta.."Sudha said with a soft smile.

"I'd come to talk to Panditji,but it seems to I've to leave now..I've to start for Delhi right now..Should I drop you off home,kaki?"Said Prithvi.

"No,beta..I've my car..You go..And have a safe journey.."Said Sudha with a smile.

And Prithvi bidding a smiling farewell to both of them,left the temple, on his way to Delhi...

Somewhere in the jungle,a lonely female figure ran for her life,as running footsteps of men followed her..

"Catch her!She shouldn't escape our hands this time!"A man's voice shouted.

Twigs snapped,under her feet,and her dress was torn at places,as she ran as fast as she could..She was not aware of the scratches on her hands,or the cut on her feet..She was not aware of the pain that passed through her body as she ran on the hard ground with her naked bleeding feet..She was not aware as stones on the ground made her wound bleed more..Her hair which must have been tied in a braid was now disheveled..Then she made the mistake of turning to see,how near her chasers were,when she tripped on a branch,and fell down on the forest floor with a gasp..

"CATCH HER!"Screamed another man,when they had almost reached her,when she somehow managed to get up and started running again..Her feet were not supporting her..And nor was her tired body helping her escape from her hunters..Her mind was screaming not to give up,but her body was just about to give up,broken in spirit,when she saw the road..

"HELP!!!"She screamed,waving her hands,running to the middle of the road, as just at that time a car came in view,and she fainted,just when the car screeched to a stop just inches away from her.And her tired and injured body lay unconscious on the road...

Damn good chapter! So much going on right now! You ended the chapter with many questions! I bet the girl is Meera as she just loves to get into trouble plus the forest is what she loves! Why do those goons want Meera? Or maybe its cause Meera is Prithvi's "Cinderella"? I guess we'll find out when you update! Loved this chapter! Finally Ramdhari and Prithvi are good...was waiting for their bonding! Hopefully get to see more bonding time with those two.
