India has banned Sony's satellite channel AXN for two months for showing "indecent content", the Information and Broadcasting Ministry said on Thursday.

It was the first time India has banned a mainstream channel.
Axn banned for airing the programme "World's Sexiest Advertisements"

Govt says 'broadcast of sexually explicit content that the government says will corrupt traditional Indian values, but it has not previously banned a whole channel. 'So what about Fashion channels and other smilier channels?

Why ban a channel? just make it PPV or have it go thru parental control

If you hid something the curiosity for it grows, people want to watch it illegally

Are traditional Indian values such that they will get corrupted by watching some advertisements or fashion shows?😕

More I see the Indian Govt in action, more I feel they are more into populist measures than measures that would bring prosperity to the country😭

you perhaps did not read my reply, there should be no banning of any channel that is what I said.

Entertainment media is not responsible to uphold traditional values, their goal is to generate revenue

Fashion TV serves its own audience, I dont think one person or the other can take an aim at them, there is a career to be made in Fashion designing, and that is a lucrative business for Indian youth and Fashion TV has them as one of their audience😛

Entertainment media have lot of responsiblities to hold the traditional values......but banning a channel is not a right way.....cos AXN channel also have their own audiance. If a adverstisment/Prog not good, Govt can bann on that advrt./Prog....why the channel???

Actuly youth very rare watch Ftv.....older people watch most...😉
