But even then, Rama and Lakshmana went with Vishwamitra to the forest only for some 15 days or something! Not years... Also, When Vishwamitra came to call Rama Lakshmana, it was for a completely different reason: To kill Tataka, Maricha and Subahu, not because Mahadev asked him.
And Rama and his brothers had completed their Shiksha and just returned from the GUrukula, that is why Dasaratha was reluctant to send off his Rama so soon!
