Update? Eager to know how much effect the apple had! As they split it, my guess is the impact is not as much as it would be if one had eaten the whole apple!
"Mr Khan, your stubble is tickling me!" Zoya giggled, as she pulled away from Asad suddenly. Asad pouted like a little child whose candy had been taken from him. He leaned in towards Zoya and rubbed the side of his face against her cheek, earning another spurt of giggles from her, before she finally placed her palms squarely on his chest and pushed him away.
"My head... feels so light! In fact, I feel so light. I feel like I could walk on air if I tried," Zoya announced, as she climbed off the sofa and twirled around, setting her feet very lightly on the ground as she did, as if she was trying to test out her theory about walking on air. Asad tilted his head as he observed Zoya's antics, a silly smile finding a way up his face. His head felt pretty light too, but it was really strange because he was sure his head felt heavy just moments ago. He shook his head vigorously to make sense of what was going on, but it didn't really help.
Zoya continued prancing around in front of him, desperately trying to take flight into the air, but all she ended up achieving was tripping on the edge of the carpet. She smiled dazedly as she felt Asad's strong arms envelop her before she could fall. She knew that as long as Asad was around, she wouldn't fall. He was always looking out for her. She clutched his shoulders as she straightened up, and Asad tightened his hold around her waist.
"Aapko dekhke chalna nahi aata? Aapko kuch ho jaata toh?" Asad chided Zoya, his voice coming out lazy instead of firm. He felt Zoya trail her hands from his shoulders to his face, resting her palms on either side of his face very carefully. Asad blinked repeatedly, as he tried to orientate himself again. There was something seriously wrong with his head today.
"Aap hi bataye, mujhe kuch ho jaata toh?" Zoya whispered, as she forced Asad to make eye contact with her. He smiled lazily as he drew Zoya closer to him, and rested his forehead on hers. Zoya lowered her hands and rest them on his chest. Asad brushed his nose with Zoya's, drawing yet another soft giggle from her.
"Toh ammi mujhe kabhi maaf nahi karegi," Asad answered, after he had paused for long enough. Zoya gasped audibly and smacked his arm playfully, before breaking out of his embrace. The setting was all perfect, and yet Asad remained as unromantic as ever. Zoya shifted her feet around as she thought of how to remedy the situation. While she drowned in her thoughts, another roll of thunder echoed through the house, making her yelp in surprise and rush back into Asad's waiting arms. Asad patted her head softly, calming her down.
"You know what Mr Khan? Isn't this nostalgic? Raat hai, baarish hai, aap ho, main hoon... par bhi kuch missing hai. Oh I know! Gaana!" Zoya listed out, before she finally managed put her finger on what wasn't right. She pulled out of Asad's arms yet again, and began jigging on her own, humming something to herself.
Asad leaned in as he strained to hear the song. It seemed to be that song from 'Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya'... what was it? That Sushmita number... 'Laga laga re'. Asad couldn't help but shake his head amusedly at her song choice. Sure, it was a rain number, and Sushmita's character was intoxicated during the song. Much like how Zoya was behaving at the moment, Asad realized, making it in fact an extremely apt choice. He cringed as another wave of headiness hit him as well, and lifted his hand to massage his head.
"Mr Khan! Why aren't you dancing too? Don't you know this song?" Zoya complained, as she reached out and took Asad's hands in her own. She hummed the song a little louder now, and twirled herself in his arms, causing his arms to cross in front of her as her back hit his chest. She leaned into the crook of his neck and felt Asad bury his face into her hair, breathing her scent in heavily.
"Miss Farooqui, I do know this song. Sushmita wears an orange sari and dances on her own while Salman watches her. So that's what I was doing, watching you," Asad concluded, as he twirled Zoya back out of his arms. Zoya frowned deeply as she contemplated Asad's words.
"Sari! I knew something was still missing from this set up. Wait," Zoya said, with a sigh of disappointment. She faltered as she tried to find her way pass the coffee table, and then hurried off into the darkness of her room, leaving a highly confused Asad behind. Asad shrugged and settled down on the sofa. His head began buzzing, and clutched his head in an attempt to reduce it. Seriously, what was going on? He turned over to glance at Zoya's room door. Did she go to sleep? He turned back to the coffee table and continued to massage his head.
A couple of minutes passed, and Asad finally got up from the sofa, deciding that maybe he should go to bed too. His head was killing him anyway. As he walked towards his room, he recalled Zoya telling him to wait earlier. But it had been quite a while since she went in, was she even okay? Asad shook his head to wake himself up, before pacing towards Zoya's room.
Asad knocked on the door a couple of times, but there was no response from inside. He pressed his ear against the door and tried to figure out if she was even inside, but the force with which he pressed his face on the door caused the door to swing open by itself, and Asad struggled not to lose his footing as he stumbled into the room clumsily. He frowned as he panned the room and found no one inside. Where did she go?
"Miss Farooqui? Zoya?? ZOYA?!" Asad found himself yelling as he frantically paced her dark room, scanning the ground to the best of his abilities to check if she had fallen down somewhere. But there was no one. Panic began to set into his system, and he tried really hard to swallow and find his voice to yell her name again. How could she have disappeared to? Where could she have gone in such a dangerous thunderstorm??
