Nikhil Kedarnath ( Ni. Ke. )
Nikhil Kedarnath had been dead for four years now. He was sitting trapped in a cupboard, when one day, 8 year old Dabboo ended up releasing him accidentally. And by some strange stroke of destiny, Dabboo became the only living soul to see and hear Ni. Ke. And thus, the two end up becoming the best of buddies.
As a ghost, Ni Ke constantly desires to do all the things that he did when he was alive - eat, drink, dance, play harmless pranks, but realizes that being a ghost has serious limitations. And yet, our spirited & young ghost is seldom sad or unhappy. He decides to make the most of his ghostly existence
Dabboo
Dabboo is n orphan living with his late father's relative. He is bullied by his aunt and uncle, by his cousins and even by kids in school and the neighborhood. Dabboo has thus become a really wimpy, nervous child.
But when he meets Ni . Ke. everything changes and slowly he gets rid of all his phobias and becomes a confident kid. And yet Dabboo remains a sweet, innocent child, who is delighted to find an out-of-the-world friend.
Vichittar Singh
He is the funny mean man.
He is funny because he defines the term Punjab da Puttar! He pretends to be tough, but is actually easily bullied by his wife Tejo ji. But in front of strangers, Vichittar Singh never forgets to tell them who is the boss.
And he is mean because, his only aim is to scare little Dabboo and make him a timid, nervous child. Vichittar Singh's larger plan is to somehow get Dabboo to give him all his father's property and business when he turns 18.
Tejo Ji
The Typical Punjabi lady, she is very excited that one day Dabboo's dad's entire money will be theirs and that too without moving a limb! She loves to think ' rani banoongi main Rani!' Tejo ji is a dominating, nagging wife to Vichittar and bullies him constantly.
Her favourite pass-time IS shopping and talking on phone with her friends. She too is very nasty with Dabboo. She keeps scaring him and threatening him and works over time to make Dabboo an unhappy child.
Chunni & Cheeku
Chunni & Cheeku are the spoilt children of Tejo ji and Vichittar. They are badly behaved and nasty kids, who victimize Dabboo at all given opportunities because - "Cheeku ka ek hi funda, Dabboo ke liye always danda". They are also a part of the hell gang in school that picks on weak kids. They keep getting Dabboo into trouble and use him as a punching bag.
Chavanni
He is the servant from Bihar. Not only is he a part of all the conspiracy against Dabboo, but also easily passes on his work to the little kid, while he chats on phone with his beloved Kanta Bai. The catch is that, he is the favourite victim for Ni. Ke, who also never misses a chance to make a fool of him in front of Tejo ji and Vichittar Singh.
