And also the audience is not a homogenous one ... different types of show appeal to different segments .. so advertisers want to target the right segments too. The niche audience may be smaller, but also may be the one with higher purchasing power ... while the larger segments have less purchasing power, but make up for it by sheer numbers ... it's all very complicated.

Let the channels and advertisers figure this one out ... it's their money and livelihood!!! 😛

well said dia just becuse Gopi bahu and dabh is no 1 trp does not mean all shows to be like ths also afte ipk people want intense lovestory
Sigh ye there should be a balance let the mandatory sponsersip come for trp and non trp slots
As at the end of the day money matters for everybody 😆

Thank you for sharing the article.

Just following up on what you guys were discussing, maybe the calculation of TRP should also be segmented just like the audience, so there is better understanding of who is watching what, where. It also helps advertisers to do targeted campaigns and sell their products better. These kind of generalized TRP calculations completely ignore the various urban/ rural and socio-economic divides in such a vast country. It is a very simplistic number and is not much of a help to both parties.
