PART 12

Facing the pool, Arnav was standing by the window in his room. The night sky was illuminated by the full moon. It's reflection in the water was a sight to behold. But the sight was not the thing which had occupied his mind. It was Khushi.

He was thinking about her. In the office, he always acted cold and angry at her. Shouting at her has been his favourite time pass. Every fleeting second he tried to prove to himself that she doesn't matter in his life. Then why? Why her tears in the office made his heart melt for a second. Was he actually going to wipe her tears?

"Dammit'! She is getting on my nerves. I don't know why but I do care if she is sad or when she is with someone else".

He thought about the party night when he had saved her from that goon. From a distance he had seen the man holding her hands and his blood had boiled.

And nowadays she was spending a hell lot of time with that other guy whom she called her GOOD FRIEND. Scratch that.. BEST FRIEND.

"Well, Why am I even thinking about this? I have asked her not to come to the office tomorrow. Maybe this can help. I need some time to get myself together. A day without her is all that I need to set my thoughts back on track." He concluded to himself and unwillingly retired to bed.

Khushi awoke the next morning with a slight headache. Maybe it was the result of excess thinking. Last night she had been thinking about Arnav Singh Raizada. She made several guesses that what could be his intention behind giving her an off from office.

'Maybe he has run out of ideas to harass me. And he needs time to plan his further moves. That could be the only reason.' She had decided last night.

"Hey, sweetie, Get your bones moving or you'll be late. And that will give your boss another chance to bite your head off" Abhay teased her.

"Today I am not going to office" she replied.

"Cool. So he fired you? " Abhay grinned.

"Shut up, Abhay. Even if he wants, you know he CAN'T fire me. Technically, I am not his employee. I am working there on a project. Maximum he can do is cancel the deal." She made her case.

"Hmm. So you'll be staying at home? Or shall we plan an outing?" he asked.

"Don't you ever have work in your office?" Khushi asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I am the boss. So I can take a day off, or days off. What does it matter?" Abhay said lazily.

"Yeah. YOU are the boss, so you shouldn't take a day off. Go to work. I'll stay here. I have a light headache." Khushi said.

"Headache? Shall I call a doctor?" Abhay asked, sounding off now.

"No.. I think you should call an ambulance and admit me in the hospital. Stupid, it's just a headache. Now I am just going to take a bath. In the meantime you can..." Khushi babbled.

"Prepare the breakfast'" But Abhay cut her in between.

"No no. I'll manage it." She tried to retort.

"Yeah sure you can. But you will not. Now go and have your bath. I'll just be in the kitchen" Abhay said and ran to the kitchen lest Khushi should stop him again.

"Hey, Khushi. Your cell is ringing." Abhay shouted from the Kitchen.

"I am still in. Pick the phone, Abhay." She replied back.

Abhay reached to the phone and received the call.

Arnav was in his cabin. A lot earlier than usual. He had a meeting after an hour and was looking for a file. And then he remembered that the had given that file to Khushi for studying the design requirements.

"What the..?" he said out of frustration. Now this girl was affecting his work as well. He was not getting the file.

"Who knows where she has dumped it before leaving. I'll have to call and ask her." He mumbled to himself.

Then he took out his cell and dialled her number.

"Hello..!" he heard a male voice on the line.

His temperature shot up. What the hell does this mean? A man receiving her phone? Where is she?

"Arnav Singh Raizada speaking. I want Khushi." He spoke in full attitude.

"Excuse me? You want what?" Abhay asked, incredulously.

Arnav realized the meaning of his words. Did he just said he wants Khushi? What is up with me?

"I said I want to talk to Miss Khushi Gupta" He spoke maintaining his composure well enough.

"Well, she's not available at the moment. She's taking a bath. I am Abhay. I'll let her know that you called. Or is there any message I can pass on, Mr Raizada?" Abhay asked, trying to keep his voice flat.

He was talking to the man who was the cause of all the troubles of Khushi.

But Khushi had asked him not to interfere in this Raizada matter. And he can't get into a fight with this Raizada man. This will hurt Khushi. I can't go against her wishes.

"There is no message. It's her I want to talk to. I am sure you'll be of no help to me." Arnav replied with a jeer in his tone.

"Mr. Raizada don't you think.." Abhay tried to answer back.

"Abhay! Here give me the phone" Arnav heard in the background. So Miss Khushi was finally free enough to receive his call.

"Hello.. Khushi Gupta speaking." She gave a significant look to Abhay who was still standing in the room. And he stormed back into the kitchen.

"Where is the damned file, Khushi." Arnav roared into the phone.

"What file? And please watch your tone, Arnav." She replied calmly.

"Thanks for the unasked advice. And I am talking about the file which had design templates. You had it yesterday." He softened a bit realising that he was over reacting just because that Abhay whosoever picked her phone.

"Oh that one. I had placed that file on the working table in my cabin. Aman knows about it.

"Is that a place to keep the files? You should have sent it to me after studying it."

"Khushi breakfast is ready. Come and have it." Arnav again heard in the background. Why is this man dancing around her? And preparing breakfasts for her?

"Okay anything else you are not able to find? Or may I put the phone down?" Khushi asked him.

"Nothing more" He said roughly and was about to disconnect the call but something made him stop. Khushi too had not disconnected thinking that he'd have.

Khushi placed the phone on the dining table where Abhay had served the breakfast. She had no idea that the call was not disconnected.
