Destined to be!!
- Go away Kumud. You shouldn't be here. It is very late and if anybody sees you'I don't want you to be in any trouble because of me.
- You know my answer. It's the same I told you last night and the night before. I won't go away. I want to hear it from you.
Their eyes locked.
Hers were stinging with tears and furious.
His were full of the same pain she used to see in the old Saras.
He has turned his old self, hiding behind his mask of despair and loneliness. And he wanted her to be happy. How was that possible? If only he knew the truth of her marriage but she would not let him
They both knew now how destiny has played a big trick with them and today they were standing under the same roof but had to feign being strangers. It was unbearable.

Kumud has sensed him all through the wedding ceremony and when she found the payal outside, she knew he was there!! And...
As she did her 'ghar pravesh' in her new home, his ehsaas kept lingering causing her heart to race uncontrollably. And she was right!! Panic welled in her throat choking her breath as she saw him bruised and unconscious under the same roof. She felt nauseous as she listened how her sister in law picked him on the road bleeding. When they took her to the room which she would occupy thereon, she shut herself and...all hell broke loose. She collapsed on the floor and cried her heart out. Now she was sure why he didn't reach her on time.
After he gained consciousness, he was numb with shock to see her and finally kumud had confronted him, he hadrefused to admit anything and how many times she tried, he still refused to tell her how and why it happened and who did it to him!!

Yes destiny had indeed had the last laugh and they were now separated. Kumud belonged to somebody else. Saras flinched in pain thinking of it!! May be he deserved it all. But Kumud did not AND does not deserve an ounce of sadness and this time he would not let fate decide for them. He would choose what would happen next. Fate had to bring him in the house where she was married. And Kumud has now realized that he came for her but was attacked. That's why she was coming to meet him every night to demand answers. Knowing her, she would not stop. He wanted to leave... but the lady who saved her was insisting that he would move out only when he was fully fit.
And he was having a hard time living so close to her. He loved this woman in front of him and every time she came to him, she was taking of piece of him with her. He was nothing without her and now that she was not his, he would like to go far away from her where his jinxed shadow would not affect her marital life.
His next words pierced his heart but he had to tell her to get her out of the guilt grip which was squeezing her. He didn't want his...no she was no longer his, he will have to remind it to himself everything second of his life.
- I didn't reach on time because we were not meant to be Kumud. Wedding is a very sacred bond and may be God knew that a person like me will not be able to go through it and fulfill it that's why HE broke it and give you a better life partner.
- Then why did you change your mind and came back on the wedding day?
She looked at him straight in his eyes as tears spilled down her cheeks. She was hurt but adamant. He was speechless. It was never easy to hide his feelings around her and today too was no exception. If she kept pushing him like this then he would just forget everything and would pull her in his embrace and crushed her to his chest tightly so that she never go away from him but... it was not the right and responsible thing to do. If he only he could go back in time. But he can't hence...
- What's the point talking about it now? It's over Kumud. You are married. You have a family. I want you to be happy and I WILL MAKE SURE OF THAT.
- That's what you promised to me and my family. To keep me happy.
Kumud wiped the tears on her cheeks and continued in a clipped tone
- I know you very well. I know what you are trying to do. And I am tired of your flip-flopping stance. I will forget you don't worry. But... I will never forgive you for taking away all the colours from my life. I still have this plain white dupatta. It will never leave me. I will take it to my grave.
His voice died in his throat. His eyes welled. His face was full of anguish. And before leaving the room, she turned to him one last time and said:
- Don't bother about my happiness. I can take care of myself Mr Saraswatichandra.
Saras looked on as she disappeared. Tomorrow he would leave from there and would go very far away from her life. What he didn't know was that destiny has already started another game involving his two favourite children, a game which will again turn the table.
