DC Reflections - 04

Sorry guys ...

How many times does he say this in just this episode??? We are being told that he is self made man ... Who observes, calculates, strategies, executes and then stands firm by any decisions he makes...

And then this girl... Breathless, clutching her sides... spouting stuff about Kismat ...Devi Maiya...Bhwagan?? Some nebulas, abstract puppet master controlling his life???? The very idea is ludicrous...But she is not backing down... Is scared but stands her ground...leaning back, clutching the sides of her Kameeze. He warns... Don't mess with me..." Agli bar tumhara Bhwagan bhi thumeh nahi bacha payaga!!!". She throws all caution to wind and vehemently declares war ...Do your worst ASR !!! "Devi Maiya ki marzi Kay bina koi kuch bhi nahin kar sakta ... Koi Arnav Singh Raizada bhi nahin!!!" That does it for him!!! One phone call... That'll show her who controls what!!!

But little does he know that she is Devi Maiya's chosen child... And that much as he does not believe in destiny...he is being blessed by it...and changing the course of his own life...

Through the course of the show, there were multiple instances when Khushi challenges him about his non-beliefs and prophesies that he will one day have to answer for his lack of faith and disdain for religion.. I personally had worriedly anticipated that we would get a desperate ASR , finally being brought to his knees in front of Devi Maiya... Begging for mercy...( I know...Khushi is not the only filmi one in the world!!! 😊) Much to my relief, did not happen...

I loved the fact that ASR stayed true to self...Not once did he turn to the gods for help... Even when Khushi lies dyeing in his arms... not once does he call out to the gods and beg to give him his love back...Shockingly, he shouts at HER!!! "Just breath...Breath Khushi!!! I am telling you to breath damn it!!" He may not believe in some external benevolence...But has learnt to trust their strange telepathic bond...their "Ajeeb" connection...their "Dharkan"..

At the start of the show it seems like it will be AS R who will have to eat his hat...give up his arrogant, godless ways ...And transform into a God fearing , Devi worshiping, ritualistic and dare I say it... boring man..Just the kind that Khushi had probably thought she would one day marry...

And so, in due course of time we see Khushi's Arnav gradually emerge but, not at the expense of our arrogant godless ASR ...We didn't lose our ASR ... but rather gained an Arnav...We also gained a Khushi who realizes one does not need religion to be virtuous or righteous...or even spiritual ...Such is I PK!!!!

On the flip... I love that Khushi calls him Ladd Governor... and a Barfee ka Tukra!!!! Let her protest and deny all she wants..she did find him yummy like the rest of us...!!! 😛

Khushi's interaction with Payal and her Amma were a joy to watch... She can charm bird off trees... " Phiki Balushahi!!!" Another meethi analogy!!! What is an annoyed Amma to do??? A little joke at Buaji's expense...How well the writers inked these characters...

And the real Khushi??? Even after her Amma begrudgingly gives in.. hesitating fingers reach for her Amma's hand...fear of rejection trembling her voice, wet eyes coaxing her Amma to acknowledge her as their own... Her childlike joy at acceptance... How can we not love her???

One crises behind them... The family comes together and rejoices... Unaware of another storm looming...

An atheist who stands and tells the devotee that he doesn't know who god
is and he makes his own destiny
while other believes that god makes everyones destiny
