Pitched against TV bigwigs such as Barkha Dutt, Rajdeep Sardesai and Hussain Kunjerwalla, it was a 'pleasant shock' for the Chennai girl. "Obviously Lola is doing something right. And though I am not a part of mainstream television, it's nice to know that people like me," says Anu. A well-known theatre artiste, Anu feels that by playing a character like Lola, she can get away with a lot. "Since Lola is a typically middle-class Mallu girl, her innocent observations are what people like." For Anu, the award proves one thing — there is no surety in television. "The television world is very precarious and fragile. You might be really good at what you do, but it ultimately boils down to the TRP ratings. I suppose there is a cross-section of people who are watching the show and that older people have also taken to the character, which thrills me the most," she says. |
