Chapter 6

"Sab theek hai?"

It was a simple question from Rathor which just meant as if he is enquiring about his hand but one thing that was attached with it implicitly was what happened inside with Roshni.

Arjun just gestures with his eyes and sits near him.

Rathor, being the chief of the team, and that was the only thing Rosh knew as of now besides being her hubby's best friend, slowly started telling Roshni about her joining days.

"...bas zyada batane k liye waise b kuch khaas hai nhi. Hai na Arjun?"

"Hmmm. Bas itna bohot hai aaj k liye..."

"Fir dinner?" Aisha got up from her seat and makes them move to the table.

With a little chit chat the dinner was finally over. Arjun, Rathor and Aisha caught up at one corner giving the naughty trio much needed space to chat about whatever they want. But Arjun had already guided Shree to make Rosh as comfortable with them as possible.

Shree started with his usual talks about gadgets, followed by Chotu's leg pulling which was followed by Chotu's threats. And thanks to both, Rosh instantly clicked with them and then as usual started with her blabbering. Soon the three were engrossed in gossips.

Shree looked at her and spoke up, "Haha aur wo Rathor sir ka damn it aur Arjun sir ka... hmm unhone to samjhe ya samjahu kar diya hoga na tumhe?"

"Arre jab tum log kitchen me the..." Chotu tried to clear her confusion.

Rosh was still looking at them confused but amusingly as if she was being told one wonderful story by them.

"Nahi samjhi! Accha dekh main samjhata hu."

Shree quickly peeped at his seniors once, got up from his place then and took out his specs. Chotu face palmed him because he could sense what was coming.

"Rosh ye dekh! Kya sir ne tujhse aisa kuch kaha tha ... Roshni! Ab ointment kaise apply karte hai, ye baat tum samjhi ya... samjahu!"

"Waah! Mere Shree!"

Chotu grinned playfully praising Shree's acting skills and Shree bowed down to thank him followed by a toothy grin. Roshni laughs her heart out seeing him enacting his senior. Though, she hadn't been so fortunate/unfortunate to hear that from Arjun but seeing Shree doing that was fun... And then she doesn't even remember when the last time she laughed like that.

"Thodhi si pareshaan hai naye chehro ko dekh kar..." Arjun said to Rathor and Aisha.

"Thodha sa time de use. Everything would be fine." Rathor said.

"Sir wo Shree aur Chotu se baat karegi na toh she would feel better. See!" Aisha said while looking at Roshni at the far end. They saw the trio chatting and laughing. Arjun and Rathor looked at each other and smiled seeing her.

Roshni managed to say in between her laughs, "Nahi aisa kuch nahi hua... But tumhe dekh k lagta hai ki tumhe kafi experience hai..."

"Actually main aur Chotu itne talented hai ki Arjun sir hume samjahye bina reh hi nahi paate!" Shree smiles and sits near Chotu.

Roshni smiled hearing them. But she was having this strange urge to know more about Arjun. She had sensed something about him. There was something, something strange, something that triggers something in her mind, her heart every time she sees him, something that she feels but is not able to understand, but she wanted to know about him. How was he? What was he? Was he good with her... in the time which she has forgotten?

"Shree!"

"Haan?"

"Waise how is he? I mean wo hai kaise?"

"Arre jaisa her senior hota hai. Theek hai wo...waise hi hai jaise the...kabhi kabhi acche, kabhi kabhi ajeeb, aur kabhi kabhi jaisa ki tum hamesha kehti thi...khadhoos!"

"Bas Shree bas!" Chotu immediately intervened.

Shree just went with the flow and kept on telling her whatever he feels about Arjun. Chotu was quick to stop him in the middle. She was married to him now and they should portray him as a gentleman to her and not as a 'khadhoos' boss.

"Accha!" She looked at Arjun who was standing at the other end of the hall.

"Mera matlab itne bure b nahi hai. Acche hai bas kabhi kabhi gussa thodha zyada karte hai..." Shree tried to cover up.

"Bohot gussa karte hai?" Roshni innocently asked alternating the looks from Shree to Arjun's serious face.

"Arre unka gussa! Baap re baap! ETF k saath tera pehla case yaad nhi hai, wo din jab tune unko wo drug wale case me Raja k bare me nhi bataya tha... Baba! Kitna bhadhak gaye the re wo...Hai na Chotu?"

"Bhadhke toh the lekin fir baad me ye dono undercover operation par saath b toh gaye the..."

"Haan! And mission was successful too."

It was a fact that Arjun was nice, a good human being, and his best friend's husband but in spite of all this he just can't deny the truth... He was still the same - angry, sometimes rude and sometimes hell bent on making it difficult for him to sleep.

It was after so many days that they were talking like that, like he used to do when she was just her friend, not her senior's wife... Shree just wanted to make the most of this moment.

"Bas! Lekin waise acche hai." Shree and Chotu unanimously said while happily nodding their head. But hardly had they known that their conversation had only confused her more.

"Kya baat kar rahe ho?" Aisha comes there smiling.

"Kuch nhi! Aise hi..." Roshni said giving a cute smile.

"Chalo ab bohot baatein ho gayi. Late b ho raha hai na. Roshni tumhe medicines le k sona b to hai."

"Arre par abhi to..."

"Koi par war nhi Shree! Aur tum dono b chalo, Sir bula rahe hai. Waise b kal office me report b to submit karni hai"

Shree sadly looks at Aisha nodding his head. Chotu comes near Rosh and keeps his hand on her shoulder "Arre Rosh yaar! Kaash tu b hamare saath office aa pati."

Roshni excitedly gets up from her place "Arre nice idea! Ok to kal main b Aisha k saath aa jaungi. "

"Fir to bohot accha hoga." Shree said happily.

"Nhi Roshni tum nhi ja sakti. Aur Chotu b aise hi keh raha tha. I am sure uska wo matlab nhi tha."

"Itna time kyu lag raha hai tum logo ko?" Rathor said.

They all turned and looked at their chief standing behind them with his arms at his waist. Shree and Chotu very quickly stepped back leaving Aisha to tell him everything.

"Kya baat hai? Kuch kehna chahte ho tum log?"

"Nhi sir bas aise hi..." Aisha said while hushing everyone.

But Roshni had made up her mind by then. She came forward and said to him, "Sir main kal se office join karna chahti hu. Aapki...aapki permission chahiye thi mujhe."

"Tum aisa kuch nhi karogi!"

Roshni looked at Arjun standing behind Rathor. Arjun came forward and stands just in front of her.

"Sir but..."

"Maine kaha na, tum abhi office join nahi kar sakti."

"Rathor sir! Aap..."

Arjun flares a bit, "Rathor b yahi chahta hai. No argument on this now. Tum abhi medically fit nhi ho. Jab hume sahi lagega hum khud..."

"Aap..."

"Apne room me jao aur aaram karo Roshni."

Roshni looks at everyone but there was no one who could support her in her decision. She stumps her foot on the ground and goes upstairs.
