@Devikamd..a t least she gave it to me..

So, the challenge was in the centre guy maintaining / ensuring balance is sustained and all the sticks are held in position..as you see from the video that the sticks are disjoint..

So the biggest role.. is of the guy in the center..

now.. all through the dance.. the BG keeps hold of the sticks... that lends additional support to the central guy...

But after watching this video.. in my opinion, their dance was:

theme: 2.5, dance: 2, expressions/ ambience: 4 = 8.5/12..

but now i would revise it to say..

theme: 3.5, dance: 2, ambience: 4 = 9.5/12

  • There is definite innovativeness in the coneptualization
  • On the dance factor, it is still low because don't think salman used DD well.. the bamboo potions are cleverly choreographed.. but that portion restricts dance ( no it wasn't acrobatia either)... the portions where dance should have reigned were the portions when DD in on ground.. and that's where his contemprory must have come into play.. I think salman is still holding onto DD.. which is a shame.. because as far as I see it.. she can do stuff if allowed to .. 😆
  • 👏 for salman... the guy truly is a 'performer'...
  • DD: for the flips 👏.. and again for being a good student on the bamboo portions..rest there was nthg much to do for her..no floorworks, no expressions.. ( static expression tha aaj)..

You should see the rehearsal videos and see the difficulties they had to face with this act ... It makes you extra proud knowing they pulled it off. There was a bit of jolt from DD's side when she was moving side ways on the Bamboo, but didn't mind that all seeing that was expected ... It was impossible for that part to go smooth. In the rehearsals ... The woman kept on dropping it ... That's why was a bit nervous when we didn't get to hear about DD's scores. It was a complicated act.

Whatever self proclamied critics say ... I think, I'm gonna ignore everything, but what Karan Johar said. People think he is a useless judge ... But what he noticed and the comments he gave to Salman/DD -- I think, that guy is a genius! His comments said it all.

it would be interesting to see their performance.. share the link na..

It sure was a complicated act.. and hence i give them 4/4 and 3/4..

god.. will have to go back for KJo's comments.. what did he say?...

Ofcourse, you care for what you think..other don't bother..

Same here...i give him 5/5 on the performance bit.. the bamboo portions were nice.. i agree.. but my disconnect is with what he did when she was on ground.. those pieces were entirely wasted..

but do share the links if u have one...I am sure it would be exciting to watch them.. and ofcourse.. once you see.. you realize how much effort the team has put into it..

It is about difference in opinion... I think she did exact amount of dance which was needed for this act. If she gives more time on floor dancing then the props would remain there uselessly. The props was not supposed to be moved. Dance them was around the props and BG dancers. Don't go by the tag line showing acrobatia/contemporary for this dance... that can be ignorance of producer, it happened in past too... Did acorbatia/contemporary come from ancient Egypt? It was simply Ancient Egypt ritual dance.

Wait ... will give you the link.

You did not even bother hearing, did you? 😛 He said ... this performance can go flat and turn out to be nothing...It was that complicated ... It looks like Salman and DD did nothing (Isn't that what others are busy saying? 😉) and if the same performance takes the right cord ... you end up thinking that yes it's a brilliant act. Karan's comment was really intelligent I found. That's why he is the top director of the country and sitting on that seat. 😆

Ofcourse, you care for what you think..other don't bother..

No. I only care about rightness of acts.

Will share and I disagree. DD was used perfectly. The concept was to use BG dancers ... not make DD dance as much as can ... It was a short performance ... If a bit longer ... could have done more things ... I loved the way how Salman gave BG dancers and DD equally importance ... which was the idea this week. What she did on the ground ... went with eqyptian dancing/concept. So not complaining.[/quote]

difference in opinion yeah..

my first day at my class.. we were explained the components of dance.. so I am going by my understanding.. dance has various components.. and a choreographer plays with those components..

So yes, like i am repeating myself.. this choreography i think was high on performance.. and less on technicality.. it doesn't make it wrong.. but thats what it was..

some liked the combo.. others i think wanted more of technicality.. so that's how I view it
