Radha-Krishna love was / is a benchmark.
- One interpretation is that Krishna enraptured the world, and Radha enraptured Krishna i.e.
drives Krishna with her love. She is his heart and soul
>>> Analogy #1 for SC: Saras guilt / remorse / love / need to make amends plus his love for kumud will now drive him all his life.

But
- it never got the sanctity of / culminated in marriage even in the society they lived in and despite the greatness of Krishna.
- once Krishna left and their jodi broke, it never united physically ..even though Krishna went on to marry others.
>>> Analogy #2 for SC: IF SLB remains true to the original novel, these two will never marry in a physical union DESPITE the all - powerful Analogy #1

My belief is that as the story progresses, kumud will be a combination of Radha & Meera.
Refer the fantastic bhajan by Lata Mangeshkar:

Ek radha, ek meera
Dono ne shyam ko chaha
Antar kya dono ki chah me bolo
Ik prem deewani, ik daras deewani
Ek radha, ek meera ...

Radha ne madhuban me dhundha
Meera ne man mein paya
Radha jise kho baithi
Wo govind aur daras dikhaya

Ek murali ek payal, ek pagali, ek ghayal
Antar kya dono ki prit me bolo
Ek suurat lubhani, ek murat lubhani

Ik prem deewani, ik daras deewani ...

Meera ke prabhu giridhar nagar
Radha ke manamohan
Radha din shringar kare
Aur meera ban gayi jogan
Ek rani ek dasi, dono hari prem ki pyasi

Antar kya dono ki tripti me bolo
Ek jeet na maani, ek haar na maani
Ik prem deewani
Ik daras deewani ...

That was indeed a Lata Solo...have you heard Vani Jairam's Meera? Under Ravishankar?!
And beautiful Radha's explanation Hgg bhai...

@ #1, my fundamental opposition to this analogy is a misplaced sanction to a majorly botched up ending. Hgg, the reasons GMT had written this end, had nothing to do with eventual 'inspirational fount' for SC's future social service...GMT had explained his 'vision'...he had envisaged this end in line of a stanza from Kalidas's Meghdoot, 10 years before actual completion-outwardly. ( I will try to get no.) ...but ulterior drive was a more regressive view than even a mere opposition to widow remarriage... all these might reveal much of sub plot. Plus I need to read part three and four fully, before laying down entire case. (The information I have been sharing is from an analysis by no less a scholar litterateur than Umashankar Joshi...) only this, it has no beauty of Radha- Krishna seperation as being mistakenly applied here.
#2 SLB has already majorly digressed. physical union has already occurred. (And that stays as last fledging hope that I would be hanging on)...sorry little sleepy, and not much coherent perhaps...will try later on...

Arre no yaar...everyone including SC blamed SC...only Great Kumud...but even she is erupting once or twice! There is another temporary twist...Alak Kishori is coming-Pramad's Sister. Kumud's acolyte.
Anyways GN to all.
