Whose Journey?
They say a Journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, for me it started with the glimpse of the slight lingering lovely smile.Well that was my first step in the long Journey along with Sonarika. When the promos were out, and we got a peek into who Parvathy is going to be, I knew we had a beautiful, lovely enchanting Gauri, but I also had watched TDSM and watched Sona as Abhilasha, she was very young, innocent, a new comer, would she be able to take on the challenge of such a powerful role? But something was connecting me with her,For the record I am no hindi serial watcher, in fact they don't interest me at all, except for a few comedies, I rarely watch hindi serials nor interested in any actors.I was a little surprised when I found myself arguing with perfect strangers for Sonarika on Facebook.Well I had all my fingers crossed when the episode where she made her entry was aired.
I already knew there was a huge negative surge against her. I knew there was whole fan faction who wanted her out of DKDM.And so with batted breath I watched her for the first time as Parvathy , young nave, innocent, not so confident Parvathy. And I knew I was also watching a Young nave, innocent not so confident Sonarika. Her first episode, I was telling myself, she has to prove herself, and how !!!!.Yes there were many flaws, her body language, her voice modulation, her expression, needed a total make over, But what covered up for that was her face.A face that was stunning, her eyes mesmerized, her smile enchanting. She was a small bundle of loveliness. Her haters increased their noise, abuses, hate messages, bashing poured.A few of us kept up the fight, some in Facebook and some on Twitter. But deep down I knew she was going to prove them all wrong.Sona grew along with Parvathy, in strength, in maturity. Her voice still needed to be modulated. But I was already seeing the glimpse of changes. For me the major change in Sona came during her Tapasya to attain Shiva. The change in costume, seemed to change Sonarika too.I was watching an extremely confident Parvathy/Sona.But a big question remained, will Mohit and Sona click.Well they did, beautifully , divinely, in the Amarnath Cave.Their first Milan. Can still remember the episode perfectly. From there it was a Journey of only getting better and better. The wedding track, was one of the finest tracks on DKDM to date. She glowed , she lit up the screen, she was indeed the perfect bride.
Then came the next turning point. Will she able to play the Character of Kaali?Anger, almost Ferocious look, Powerful Kaali Ma??Will this small Sona be able to do justice to the role?Well The TRP spoke for itself.Kaali track garnered the highest TRP for the show. And Sona not just did justice , she took it to another level. With blue paint, red painted lips, eyes burning, she set fire to the screen. As jagatmata she looked every inch the jagatmata. Her eyes spoke a million words.Sonarika had arrived. She got better and better. Her fan following was growing,I found myself with a group of sona fans on India Forums,We saw the numbers grow, we poured our love for her in Sona Appreciation Thread. It was a fun place, most of them seriously nuts. The discussion normally edged on humor and serious topics. One thing that brought us together was Sonarika.
I met Jhum, who forced [ literally forced] me to write a fan fiction on Mohit and Sona.Which I started reluctantly, not sure if I will able to write at all.And so was born Adrit and Shyla , Just a StoryWell the story was so so so well received,ADLA became almost as popular as MOHARIKA
DKDM moved on, we saw some amazing episodes, but every day we saw something more, something new in our dear sona. She was also showing up in various interviews, which always sparked of arguments on the forum.
Well one thing was sure, the small voice inside me that had said that she was the perfect choice for the role of Parvathy had become real.
So I was sitting back enjoying the show, watching Parathy go from bride, to Kali, to becoming a mother of Skanda, Becoming Durga, take the form of Adi shakthi as she found herself watching dearest Vinayak's head go rolling, chosen to be in People's Magazine, One of the top 100, placed in the prestigious center fold, nominated for best actress/ Jury. A journey of a 1000 miles had indeed started with a smile.I continued writing ADLA, somewhere in the writers head was a tiny wish to meet my muse, Shyla.I knew it will remain a dream. But I was wrong.
Feburary 14th Sona joins Twitter, my darling Jhum again drew Sona's attention to the Story. And well as they say rest was history. We connected through Twitter,Shyla and Jai.She wanted to meet.
On April 28th a long Journey brought me face to face with one of the loveliest persons of the small screen. My princess, My Shyla , Sonarika. It was like I always knew her.A day that I will remember for a long time.So whose Journey was this.
Sonarika's of course from Innocence to Power.Mine too from being more of a mother hen rather than a fan, to someone who cud in a small way connect Sonarika with her fans. Are there reasons for certain things that happen.Well I don't know, I live life like everyday is a miracle. Here is wishing our Parvathy/Sonarika/Princess/La.All the very best in all her forth coming ventures.
Anushya Selvaraj (anu7593) I am following DKDM from Parvati's phase.I just loved Sonarika from the time the promo for new Parvati started.I saw DKDM segment in SBS for the same and right from there I am a huge fan of her.She had the innocence, purity and calmness that made her the obvious choice to play Parvati. And her eyes..Oh man it was just mesmerizingHer eyes made all my doubts to vanish if at all I had any..Those eyes had the depth to show all emotions..Sona played Parvati to the point perfection..Though her voice was quite squeaky at the beginning, later she grew up in her role..She played a perfect daughter to Himavan-Meinavati.She didn't left any stone unturned to showcase her talent whenever there was an opportunity given as AdiShakti(MahaKaali,MaaDurga)..She was really fierceful as Maakaali..just just awesome..As MaaDurga she was even more perfect(though I wish they could have dragged Mahishasur track a bit longer). But she did her job perfectly. She beautifully emoted the feelings of longing for her Lord to accept her,her happiness when He did so,the blush whenever they were together, her anger, anguish and pain whenever Her Lord again and again tested her(when a lady asur disguised as Parvati).her anger as Maakaali and remorse when she placed her foot over Her Lord and many more..words fall short to describe her beauty..I enjoy watching her on screen..
She is just 20 and playing a mother of three kids Karthikeya,Ganesh and AshokSundari.I wish the CVs really show more tracks to showcase her talent..
Sonarika,
You are awesome as Parvati..We all love you

Like the cool breeze that travel across the mountains...like the river flows through the forest...like the chirpping birds in the morning...Sona's introduction scene was sooo fresh and brought an aura of delight and hope among the viewers...It was like the DKDM got a new life to live...Her transformation from a teenage girl yearning for love from her beloved to being a stubborn and strong willed woman who wants to marry her beloved...to achieving her life goal of becoming one with her soul mate was reallly awesome...Her potrayal of a mother ...the universal mother was really commendable as an actress even though sooo young...Her potrayal of Maa Durga had the pureness and the braveness rightfully mixed.. Her acting skills have been improving from day one...She has never failed to impress her viewers and loyal fans..I HAVE NEVER SEEN AN ACTRESS WHO IS SOO DOWN TO EARTH AND SOO LOVEABLE WITH HER FANS LIKE SHE IS...STARDOM HAS NOT AFFECTED HER IN ANYWAY...She remians to be lovely mama's girl even she has reached great heights of success ..That makes her more adorable..She bein named as one of the beautiful women in the world is really a much deserving one..HEr beauty is from her inner self...so true and so pure...She is a true princess...Though faced by lots of negativity n unwanted rumours her soul and spirit never was affected...She just knows what she wants and very skillful in handling negativity..This again is an adorable character of her...She never failed to impress me...Wish her a long life and reach great heights of stardom...with the same spirit and down to earthness .Lovely Sonarika...Cheers to you...

How do I start with words? This journey has been nothing but a roller coaster with Sonarika.
DKDM caught my interest sometime in January 2012 when they where unfolding the divine love of Shiv/Sati at that time. It was a beautiful phase in the show and everything about it was larger than life astounding. The journey of their love and ultimately the union and than the tragic end of Sati who was reborn to ultimately unite with her Shiva forever. The love saga caught your imagination in ever possible way. Obviously was curious who would step into play Parvati as it was never going to be easy for any actress because Sati was a very powerful and significant phase of DKDM.
The moment Sonarika walked into celluloid putting flowers on the shivling something triggered inside me and made me feel that she was perfect in every which way to play this role. She was not only very beautiful but had the innocence, aura and grace to step into this role.
She came in at a very crucial time when people where still reeling from the Shiv/Sati romance which had left a deep impact on the hearts and minds of the audience.
It was going to be difficult because she had to fit into a fairly large shoe because expectations where very high and she matched up to all beautifully. There will be audience who will always have their favorite phase in the show but the truth is that she and Mohit as a team have carried this show well in the second phase so much so that they are the power couple on tv today.
As an actress Sona has matured and grown well into this role. For a 19 year old girl it was going to be a big challenge to play a wife and mother on screen and to look the part. But never once did I feel she was in character or she looked out of place.
Today Parvati is Sonarika you cannot separate the two. She still has a lot to learn and grow but the future looks very bright for her and she can be one of the shinning stars on TV and films.
Lastly wishing her a bright and prosperous future both personally and professionally.

The phase of DKDM with Sonarika this past year has been the best. I have been an ardent fan of the show from day one. But became a huge fan in the phase Sonarika was introduced as Parvati. Always wanted to witness the vivaah, love and family life of Mahadev with Parvati which was realized when Sona stepped in as Parvati.
She was the most beautiful actress to have stepped on the small screen and right from day one she has ruled the hearts of the audience.
She has made it and come triumphant in this series after a lot of scrutiny, severe criticism most biased but she stuck it out and today she has made all her detractors swallow their own words by excelling in the role so much that now nobody can replace Sonarika as Parvati in the viewer's minds and hearts. She has made a permanent place in our hearts.
She stepped in as this young pretty girl who looked little bit nervous in the role initially but now she is a raging phoenix in the role and today her confidence and act speaks for itself.
She is a star and DKDM has seen success and super success after she came in as Parvati and she and Mohit are responsible for the great heights of success of this show today.
Last but not least I wish she does well and finds more success in her profession and becomes a huge star in the days to come.

Where do I even begin? I don't know how to start. When sati(mouni) died in the show majority of the people wanted her to be parvati also, but I never felt that mouni should be parvati coz neither it was possible nor logical. I seriously never demanded a particular face to be parvati coz at that time I wasn't even bothered. I was like whosoever is choosen will be best. When I heard that sonarika is playing parvati, I was completely OK with it (swear to god, not lying). I still remember the moment when I saw her first time in her previous show, I was like OMG!! She is so beautiful.
When I first saw her as parvati I was completely shocked coz she was looking even more beautiful as parvati, I accepted her whole heartedly from the day one. I started admiring her, then liking her and finally loving her. She was perfect as parvati according to me and with every passing episode she became more and more perfect. Now after one year of her journey in DKDM and as parvati, I can't even imagine to watch the show without her, I skipped the episodes in which she wasn't there (Like Jalandhar track) . She is a perfect parvati, aadi Shakti, durga and mahakali. No wonder why some people hate her, all because she is very beautiful and talented and they are jealous of her. A full of life girl who only makes people happy, I wonder how someone dislike her. She is such a sweetheart. I like her eyes most she speaks and emote with her eyes. DKDM has done a huge favour for me and afor all sonarikans by selecting sonarika as parvati.
She and mohit is the only reason why I watch DKDM. Their chemistry affected me so much that I become addicted to it. Sonarika looks good in every outfir whether it is indian or western. A 20 year old girl plays the role of mother of 3 children how amazing is that. I am sure just like people see mohit as shiva, they would see sona as parvati, at least I do.
All the very best for your future sona and thanks for giving us a wonderful and beautiful parvati.
Karuna Chettiar(umakaruna)
For me the beautiful journey of DKDM was with the beautiful Sonarika as I started watching the show in the Parvati era. Used to watch it in bits and pieces before that but the actual journey began when I watched the whole episode where Nanadi dies and Shukracharya revives Nanadi with Sanjeevani booti and Parvati comes running hearing the cries of Nandi.
Those moments are engraved in my mind forever. I have never missed even a single epi after that first full episode. The journey with Shiv and Parvati in DKDM has been the most beautiful one for me. I feel that I am seeing the real Uma and Shankar in front of me when I see Sona and Mohit.
When my Uma (Parvati) which is also a name given to me by my grandmother when Uma cries on screen or smiles I go through the same emotions. I feel she is right there in front of me and my hand immediately joins together in respect. My whole family loves the show and adores Shiv and Parvati (GauriShankar) which we feel so real when we see Sona and Mohit on screen.
Thank you Sonrika for making this a reality for us. The stories that I used to read and love as child came true on screen thanks to your flawless representation on screen. U are my Uma and I love you from the bottom of my heart. Want to continue this journey with u as an audience on screen forever. My love for you gets stronger and am a fan of you for life.
Happy Birthday to Parvati as she turns one year old in the show and the show has reached new milestones I wish to see Sona reach new heights too. Love you.

The journey with Sonarika for me has been the most beautiful journey ever. I became her biggest fan and I thank DKDM for giving us the brightest star that I see shining very bright in the years to come.
I started watching this show after Sonarika came in and I before I realized I was addicted to the show and the actors who where portraying the divine Gods so flawlessly. So much so now when ever there is any mention of Shiv and Parvati anywhere the only two faces I can imagine is Mohit and Sonarika.
Sonarika is the most beautiful face to have graced the television industry and is a bundle of talent. Right from the first frame to the current frame in DKDM I see every bit of the Goddess Shakti in her and she actually lives and breathes the role.
There could have been no better choice to play this role be it beauty or acting the role of Parvati was made for Sonarika.
She is now one of the most recognized face of tv and the bigger picture is yet to come.
I wish more success for her and I also wish she becomes a big movie heroine. We can all be proud as fans that her beginning journey happened with us and DKDM.
Sonarika we all love you and thanks for becoming a huge part of our lives. Cannot imagine life and DKDM without u now. God Bless you.
May you and DKDM grow old together and stay together till the last day.

To begin with I was watching DKDM much before Sona stepped into the picture and loved it for it's uniqueness in terms of presentation and wonderful soulful music with a wonderful cast of actors who fit the bill perfectly in their respective roles.
When Parvati was to be introduced the excitement was there to know who it was going to be who would play the most important part in the show after Mahadev of course.
The moment Sona stepped into the frame when she was introduced as Parvati I knew she was the one and my heart went out to her immediately. Something about her innate innocence touched my heart and since then there has been no looking back for me. She has grown with the character very well and now we cannot think of anybody else to play that role. When I close my eyes and think about Durga and Kaali the only face that comes to my mind is that of Sonarika.
She has got into the skin of the character. It is not the easiest of roles to play because there are so many different dimensions to it be it Parvati, Ma Duga or Ma Kaali. She has managed to come up well with each of those characters. I love her Durga roop most of all. She looks like Ma Durga. Those eyes are mesmerizing.
She also plays the wife and mother of Lord Shiva perfectly. As a a wife she is clam, beautiful, sincere and very loving just like we imagine Ma Parvati to be and the ever loving and caring mother who will go to extreme lengths to protect her children. I have felt all these emotions evoked within me because of the splendid portray by Sonarika in each of those roles.
Lastly I would like to say I used to love DKDM before Sonarika came on board but addicted and crazy about it now. I would attribute that mainly to her and Mohit . Thanks for coming into our lives and making it so beautiful for the audiences and wish u a long journey ahead with this show. I want my Ma Parvati (Sonarika) till the time DKDM will be there to enthrall and entertain us.
Ranjusha Sudhakar
First of all my journey with Sonarika has not been for a year as I happen to be a fairly new viewer to the show just some months old. I started watching the show from the Ganesh phase and soon I was hooked and I started to go back to the early phases of DKDM and was dumbstruck that I had missed out on such a beautiful show and wished I was part of the journey right form the start.
Sonarika and Mohit immediately caught my attention in DKDM as they where the two most good looking actors I had seen on tv and as Shiv and Parvati they looked so divine I was drawn to them and the show immediately.
Sonarika is a bundle of talent and extreme beauty. She represented the epitome of womanhood and shakti in the role of Adishakti where as Parvati she was gentle, soft and beautiful as Kaali and Durga she became fierce and transformed and we all felt that energy each time she came in those looks on screen.
The show which is dominated by Shiv she has made the character of Parvati stand out and so lovable that as fans we cannot seem to connect to the show without her now.
I just wish her on this one year anniversary that she gets to the heights of success and stardom in her career and may she remain humble and beautiful at heart just like she is in body. May God bless you always Sonarika and may peace and happiness make a permanent place in your hear. Lots of love to you.
Sabdhya (edna)
To begin with it is unbelievable that it is going to be a year complete for Sonarika in DKDM. It has been so pleasant and wonderful so far and have grown to love her so much in the role of Parvati that time just flew by.
About her words fall short. We all know she is extremely beautiful and one look at her and her glowing face u don't hear or see anything else. She has that effect on men and women equal. I am so happy she is part of DKDM and to be a fan of this show it has enriched lives in so many ways and teaches you so many good things in life.
Sonarika as Parvati is the epitome of compassion, pure love, devotion and dedication to her husband and family which if we can imbibe even a few percent would be a great feat.
Her acting has made the character so believable and lively not for one moment I felt it was acting but as a wife and mother she looks so real. She is such a young girl in real life but portrays this very mature larger than life character on screen to which she has added that maturity which must have just grown on her as she played the role because in real life she could hardly draw that inspiration since she herself is so young. That I guess is sheer talent that comes from within.
To conclude all I will say is Sonarika u have given us so much happiness by doing this role and just watching u is magic. Please continue with the same zest and we fans love and adore you from the bottom of our hearts.

I have been a fan of Mahadev from day one. I Loved the show, actors, music and everything about this show which had a unique ensemble cast of great actors. Much as I loved the beginning phase of the show because of the power packed performance of Prajapati Daksh.
The phase after that for me was the divine joy of watching the story of my love Shiv and Parvati.
I had been waiting for Parvati to come into the show since day one and when she came in it brought me immense joy and pleasure. Not only was Sonarika immensely beautiful but she was also very talented.
I saw the eternal divine Goddess Mata Parvati in her and I loved the show more than ever before. The journey of Shiv from Vairagya to householder was complete and onscreen Mohit and Sonarika as Shiv Parvati complimented each other so well I always felt the divine energy in their acting onscreen. Felt real more than acting.
I felt joy when they married and Parvati came to Kaialsh and was united with her Shiv finally.
When they became parents I felt another rush happiness within me and witness the divine union of purush and prakriti on screen was another high altogether.
I look at Sonarika and love her beauty, innocence, voice which was all so refreshing on the small screen.
This is only the beginning of her journey and has a long way to go and I can see her become one of the super stars in the coming years. I will always be very proud to be her fan because she is warm and a genuinely lovable person offscreen when she interacts with her fans on social network.
May God bless her with success, peace, happiness, recognition and super stardom.
Tina(consula)
It has been quite an eventful beautiful year this with Sonarika as she completes her one year stint in DKDM on 15th June.
The trials and tribulations along with the exciting roller coaster ride where part of this one year journey.
She made her presence on screen that day of June last year and I don't know what hit me she was Parvati for me after that.
I was completely drawn to her beauty which was mesmerizing and at the same time her presence and everything about her drew the realization that she was perfect in the role. As expected she brought the desired grace to the role and soon enough even the show grew in popularity and did better with each passing day.
She has grown in maturity this past year and you can see that she lives the role now. She gets the subtle nuances of the character very well which can only happen when u have understood the role very well. So much so now u feel that Parvati and Sonarika is synonymous.
I just wish her on this first anniversary loads of success, prosperity and happiness. Just like DKDM has come a long way; Parvati also has and hope both the show and actors travel this long journey ahead together. Wish them all the success.
