awww... when I read about them playing a game, I thought It may turn out to be fun but that was such a sincere and genuine description of the situation and their feelings, I couldn't help but feel a little sad

"So, I was thinking..." they both broke the silence at the same time. It was extraordinary how half a sentence diffused the tension so effectively. Arnav smiled ruefully and gestured for her to continue.

"So, I was thinking about what you said... earlier"

"I meant it, Khushi"

"Well, it doesn't change anything"

"I know"

"The thing is, Arnav, you were too late"

"You don't owe me any explanation Khushi"

"I know I don't. But I've lived for five and a half months without an explanation, and I know how it feels."

"I'm sorry, Khushi"

"Is that right?"

"Yes"

"What of the six month contract, Arnav?"

"I'll tear it and throw it in the bin, Khushi. After which I will hire divorce lawyers for both of us, and will get an out of court settlement, on your terms. And after that, you're free to go"

"You'll... you'll do this as soon as we reach Delhi?"

"As soon as it is humanely possible. I wouldn't want you to be tied down with me any longer. I've punished you enough."

"Well, that is going to be a problem"

"Is that right?"

"Because I'd promised that I'd complete the six months, no matter what. After fourteen days, you can do all that and set me free. I don't want any pending thing tied down with that place and you"

"Okay"

Khushi looked away with a feeling of dissatisfaction at the way the conversation had turned out. She had expected that he would beg and grovel. And when that had not happened, she wanted to cry. But she had no idea why, for this was exactly what she had wanted. A fresh start. Then why did it feel so ... bad?

Arnav glanced at her troubled face and looked away. He had been lying when he said he would willingly let her go away. They had 14 days, there was still time.

Thank u for the open end..it was kind of welcome relief from all the unusually unbeievable redemption tracks in which arnav either kidnaps khushi or begs n grovels on his knees and starts calling her jaanu/ sweetheart and what not.!! and thank u fr finishing the story and not abandoning it.
