Fans of the show, please don't mind if I say that the serial has turned history into a typical Balaji melodrama. Soon, we may have spells of amnesia, characters dying and coming back to life, twenty year leaps and all the other cliches as well.
According to history, Akbar's marriage to the Rajput princess was a political alliance. Even Ashutosh Gowariker's film showed it as such. But here we seem to have a filmi romance going on.
What next? Will Jodha, like a typical self-denying TV heroine, break her engagement with the Rajput prince because her sister is interested in him? Or will Akbar, the obsessed lover, play dirty tricks to get his lady love?
No offence to the viewers who like the show. If it entertains, it has served its basic purpose. But those who had hoped for a well-researched historical are going to be very, very disappointed.
