Today I am in Lucknow, came here for work.
This is the city of Arnav and Khushi,
And here's what I am feeling today
As I roam the streets of this city
My eyes, inadvertently search
For Sheesh Mahal, where a little boy
Serious and somber, holding
His mothers pallu, learnt to love
Trees and plants, roses and thorns
Or bore with ill concealed tolerance
His Di as she showered her love
Where is the hallway, where a bullet rang and
The world of a little boy came crashing down?
As I pass through houses where children play
I find myself wondering, was this where played a pretty little Khushi?
Where are the wallls within her laughter rang, till a tragedy struck
At each traffic signal, I ask, is this the site of the ill fated accident
When she lost her parents,
Did she see them as she sat clutching Graima's hand, too young to fathom death!
And this is the city, where one day, a handsome man descended in a copter
To capture the heart of a beautiful girl,
Who fell into his arms, and transformed, the beast into a Prince Charming!
So I am all nostalgic in Lucknow
