PART 20

When I opened my eyes I found Dr. Arjun smiling at me, he winked at me and asked the nurse to leave.

"So buddy how are you now?" he asked

"Don't tell me I blacked out" I said

"I am telling you" and he laughed

"Who brought me here?" I was curious

"Any guesses"

"Someone from my staff"

"Anyone specific"

"Geet"

"Yes"

"And I thought I have imagined her face"

"All is well, now what do you feel like?"

"I don't know, but I think I should stop thinking about the past and make a world in my present for my future" I sighed. I was fed up being confused

"What do you plan to do now?" he asked

"I am going to do what I was going to do way before knowing what she was for me in past"

"You are going to propose her" he smiled

"For what is that ring for then" I asked

"Man go ahead I will send her" and he left with a broad smile, somewhere I know that he would have been my very good friend.

After few minutes Geet entered the room, she was looking exhausted, she must have been very worried for me.

I indicated her to sit down.

I did not know to weave tales I came straight to the point, ""Geet, I do not remember things from the past we shared or rather I had. But I know one thing Geet, that in the present I love you and would like to marry you"

She was as always quite and her looks turned from exhausted to shocked.

I realized that I have confused her so I said, "Don't think this happened after knowing the truth about us, but way before that I was attracted to you. That day I accused you just because I was planning to propose you and I felt hurt."

She did not look convinced so I sat down and instructed her, "Bring my jacket Geet"

She was always good at taking orders she brought the jacket and gave me. I extracted that ring box from the breast pocket and gave her, "Geet, that day when I accidentally opened you computer I had actually come in to give you this"

As if time had come to a standstill, she did not as always say anything.

She was standing still staring at that ring.

I stood up and went near her, she did not realize.

I took the box from her, she looked at me and a blush crept on her cheeks.

"Geet, I don't know what I felt for you then, but I know that I can't think of my life without you now."

She gave me a puzzled look

"I will not say that I fell for you the very first day, but slowly I started liking you and finally decided to propose you, I was not sure that I love you but I wanted to share my life with you" I confessed.

"That day when I accused you I was very restless and confused. And finally when you resigned I felt that I don't like you" I stopped to see her reaction, she was frowning

"Yes I realized I don't like you but I love you" I said and grinned

She had tears in her eyes.

I cupped her face and said, "Say something Geet, it has been 2 days 15 hours and 27 minutes since I heard your voice"

She hugged me and cried and cried and cried.

We were disturbed by a knock and as we stood separated my family entered the room, followed by her family.

"So will you marry him?" asked Arjun

She just nodded

"Hey where's the ring" he asked

"Here" I showed him

He opened the box and said, "Then do the honors"

And it was how we got engaged. I and Geet to be married soon.
