madrasi is not a bad word specially when it is used for a person who hails from madras aka chennai..it would have been bad if any person from other south industries were called that coz they ain't belong to madras.between i myself is a south indian.

All South Indians have been referred to as Madrasis for the longest time. I dont think using it was necessary and could have been avoided.

Why does one have to be a "South Indian friend" to oppose the use of a colloquial term with derogatory connotations? I oppose it as well and I'm not SI.
