Khushi looked at him, and bowed her head down, her cheeks reddening. She could smell his clone and see his six pack abs.
"Take this" She gave him the tray and turned back to walk away when he pulled her back by her wrist.
"I don't drink two cups of coffee, Khushi!" Khushi heard his husky voice from behind. "Now that you have come at my doorstep, come on in!"
She dared to look at him. He was smiling; his caramel brown eyes had a soft look. He turned around and went inside the room to put a shirt on. Khushi stood at the doorstep until she saw him wearing a white t-shirt on. She entered the room and put the tray on the coffee table right next to the door. When she sat down on the sofa, she looked around the room and was stunned. The walls were full of posters of semi-nude models and actresses; every inch of the bedroom was reflecting the taste of the owner.
Khushi felt herself going red and her body hot with embarrassment, when she saw Arnav sitting in front of her.
"What happened?"
"Nothing!" She snapped. She hated this guy so badly.
"So, are you HP's assistant now?"
"No. I wanted to come to'"
"Know about Shyam'?" Arnav cut her sentence.
"What?"
"Clearly not! Then?"
"I wanted to apologize to you for what I said yesterday."
"But I thought you meant all of that! How come the smart Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta is feeling bad about it?" He said sarcastically and waited to sip his coffee.
"I am sorry, OK! It's obviously none of my business what you do with your life."
"You got it right this time! But you know that I don't take you seriously either Khushi, so its ok!"
"I better go now! Good night!" She finished her last sip of coffee and stood up.
"Shyam came to the office today!" Arnav knew she would turn back.
"What? Really? Khushi looked at him for more information.
"Yeah. But it's very late no, you better go! I will tell you the details tomorrow. Good night." He moved his attention to his mobile.
"Arnav, what did he say? Did you tell him about..me?" Khushi's voice was filled with emotions.
"Sit down!"He put aside his mobile and saw Khushi falling down on the sofa.
"I have no idea what you saw in him, Khushi! I swear, HP is better looking than your Shyam!"
"Arnav!"
"Fine, the bottom line is that he doesn't want to marry you. I told him everything I knew about you. But still he doesn't want to marry you!"
"You are lying!"
"I am not! Why don't you ever believe me?"
"It cannot happen. Why doesn't he want to marry me?" She rubbed the tears on her cheek with the back of her hands.
"Because his parents are getting him married to a girl of a financially well off family. I can't believe that you fell for such a selfish guy, Khushi!"
"No, this is not true. I don't believe any of this nonsense. I will only accept it when I hear it from his own mouth!" She stood up, as if she had made a decision.
"Fine! Then go call him! Ask him to meet you and tell you all this..if he picks up your call, that is!" he sniggered.
"Can't you ask him to meet me, Arnav! He picks up your calls!"
"Khushi why are you dying for him?? He is not worthy of you." Arnav came forward, speaking softly now.
"If he is not, then nobody else is! I love him Arnav!" Arnav saw her helpless face.
"But he doesn't!"
"You don't know him'"
"I understood him better than you ever did Khushi!"
"What would you know of love Arnav Singh Raizada?"
"I know about it well enough to understand the basic difference Khushi! Stop waiting for him."
"Then whom should I wait for? Who would come and make everything all right in my life, Arnav? Who would get me out of this upside down life? Who would become the medicine for my wounds'??
"I will'" He whispered, coming forward'
"Huh?" Khushi looked at him with her tearful eyes.
"I will help you in meeting him. In getting you married to him. Now stop crying!" They were inches apart and Khushi looked at him hopefully, her eyes thanking him.
Her dupatta slided down a bit and her black flicks flew around her face. Arnav's gaze stopped at her lips and he felt a rush of emotions inside him. He suddenly realised how close they were and she was at his disposal.
"Thanks. See you in the morning, and sorry again!" Khushi's voice drove him out of his fantasy and he saw her going out of his bedroom, while he stood there helplessly.
Arnav took a deep breath and ran his fingers in his hair.
"What had just happened to me? What was I thinking? This cannot be happening Arnav! You have lost it! He fell on his bed and closed his eyes. But it was Khushi who flashed again in front of his eyes. He thought about the meeting with Shyam and reached for his phone.
"Hello, Arnav speaking. I need you to meet me tomorrow morning at 11am in the office. We will discuss about your contract. Bye"
