Sab mey aik dewana chupa hai
There are very few shows where a character manages to grab your attention from the
very first shot, in most shows male leads are introduced by either showing
their six packs or doing heroic stuff. Here was hero that had long hair and an over
grown beared, scribbing on the wall with a piece of coal ... yet he managed to
grab all your attention. You instantly felt connected to him, wanting to know his story
... why he was in this state ... that first scene of Anurag Ganguly or should I
say Onu was enough to intrigue you, thanks to a brilliant script made exceptional
by Harshad's acting.
The viewers did have an introduction with Onu in asylum before the first episode aired
as well, it was in the promos and they were no less perfect. Someone had rightly said
"Without wonder and insight, acting is just a business. With it, it becomes creation" Without
a doubt Harshad made audience instantly connect to Anurag through his insight into
the character, his portrayal of Anurag in asylum was so apt that everytime you saw him,
you were left asking yourself why ... why he is the way he is? From the very first episode rather promos all you wondered as a viewer was What made him go mad ... because in the very first appearence "Pagal Onu" had captured your heart ... his pain hurt you as a viewer and all
you wanted to do was find out who is responsible.
The little touches Harshad brought to the character, like rolling of the eyes, staring into the space, looking at food fondly, scratching his beard or trying to clean his hands by rubbing
them to the shirt made the character all the more adorable. Ekta Kapoor had said "Harshad Chopda placid on screen is never boring" and if anyone had a doubt ... he sure removed all by portraying this character with so much versatitlity.
