to show that any person can go to such extents to get what they want, is the most hinious crime both in the eyes of man and god.
that any woman even a woman like tanveer, who is obviously educated and smart, falls so low that she would sleep with a man or pretend to sleep with him. is a most disgusting act. and i hope that if Gul Khan has the cheek to use such tactics for the sake of trp.
then i hope she has to good sence to make sure that a character like tanveer is punished in the most horiable way as repercussion or her disgusting act. such evilness should not get rewarded.
and i hope that Gul understands that such matters should not be taken lightly for the sake of entertainment. cause in the real world they are real issues and cause nations to protest such henious acts.
i hated todays episode it made me sick to my stomuch. and i wish i never have to see tanveer character again. untill unless she is at the bottom of a deap well full of piosions snakes. i dont think i'v hated any character as much as i hate Razia and Tanveer. it is not a nice hate but a wish to never having to know that such character or people exist even in pretend. they offend my sensability. and bring shame to the women of our country and all women everywhere.
i'm afraid Gul has played the card wrong. she better get rid of Tanveer fast or the show Qubool Hai will see an early end.

I know the feeling. I felt utterly disgusted even though I kind of knew what was about to happen. It's like even knowing the spoilers, the hope and wish that it wouldnt come to that and then the sense of daze and dread that it did!

I too hope that Gul Khan can redeem herself and start thinking of ways of introducing more conflict but not heiniously like today's episode! And I too hope that Tanveer gets to suffer - not a quick painful retaliation but slow and painful death!!!

True, she could have sexually assaulted him even under the influence of drugs, I was only thinking of rape in a specific sense.

I completely agree with you, it's true that the herd mentality is still very prevalent unfortunately. India does still need to make a lot of progress to become a society where the common public can differentiate real from reel life, and appreciate issues such as women's' rights and equality.

But it's true that since the media has so much influence over the thoughts of the common people, there should be a greater sense of moral responsibility in what they portray on TV.

As far as the production house and CV's of the show go, however, I think their goal was to generate the powerful emotions that everyone on this forum is having, whether that is anger, sadness, or disbelief. As far as I am seeing, they have done exactly that.

I feel that instead of criticizing production houses who create shows to only entertain people, and holding them responsible for what they show on their fictional shows, we should be taking more effective actions to promote a more safe and equal society for women and men alike in India.

I wish it was as easy as it sounds though, which I know its not but its just sad that our society and culture can be influenced so greatly by negative aspects of TV shows and that these negative aspects have a bigger impact than any positive messages being send on TV.

Truly well said!!!! It's so sad but it's so true!!!! And that's why I believe that production houses, media, social media, news all have responsibility to ensure that we portray things that will help promote safe and equal society for women and men.

Sometimes I appreciate showing rape / sexual assault on media is important to highlight and increase awareness of the issues and to try and make us question and understand why it is happening with the hope of putting an end to it. But I dont appreciate rape / sexual assaults on media for the sake to increase TRP or conflict.

Very sensible post and much appreciated.

To me its not about destroying the purity and magic of AsYa.. its about the lightness with which a TV show deals with a mind numbing, soul destroying act like non-consensual sex.

It doesn't matter whether it happens to a man or woman, its as debilitating to either sex. It destroys you emotionally and mentally, makes you vulnerable, makes you despair and doubt your own self.

Its not that it doesn't happen, of course it does and I don't have an issue with Gul showing it though I honestly there were other ways of showing a separation between the leads but I think Gul had been leading upto this all this while, so it shouldn't have come as a surprise.

No, I have an issue with the way this will be dealt with. There would be a lot of crying and screaming, accusations will fly, and maybe Asad will be an ass and continue to defend Tanu and apologise for his behaviour and then pooof! It will all be dusted off and forgotten!

Asad will run after Zoya, beg her forgiveness, Zoya will forgive after much natak and they'll be happy lovey dovey scenes that Gul knows the audiences will moon over and a very stark, despicable, shameful and critical thing would have been treated like another thing to be forgotten and flicked away.

To 4Lions, Zoya snooping around and Asad getting forced into sex when drugged pretty much the same - they both will get the same light hearted flippant treatment!

What never ceases to surprise me is our cinema and television's cavalier attitude and willingness to use it to sensationalise their content and gain viewership and never bother to really handle it with the care and sensitivity it deserves.

Its this flippancy and ready resort status of non-consensual sex that bothers me.

And before any one says, yes reel life does have a huge impact on real life!

I too hope its handled with the utmost sensitivity it deserves.
Unfortunately I dont think it will. Ajmer track is now used as a carrot to lull viewers into a sense of familiarity and romance and then iI'm sure it will go back to as though what happened didn't.

I mean Tanveer is still here and it probably going to be here for a long time (unfortunately) and worse, will still stay in Asad's house!
