Movie Review
The film gives you a feel of the modern day Ranjhaa. Even though Kundan is your typical 'Road Side Romeo', he charms his way into your hearts and makes you sympathize with him. The dialogues are brilliant and the performances are superb! Dhanush as Kundan, is extremely convincing. It's difficult to believe that it's his first Hindi film. He performs a myriad of emotions with ease and has equally good comic timing and would give any 'six pack abs flexing' actor a run for their money! Yes! It's Dhanush's film all the way!!
All those who thought Sonam would not look convincing as a teenaged school girl, are in for a surprise! She fits into her role as a young 14-15 year old school girl and also as the young Delhi University graduate to perfection! She's not only stunning (sans make up), but also looks at ease in her role as Zoya. The casting director deserves a pat in the back! The supporting cast especially, is praise worthy. Brilliant performances, by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Swara Bhaskar, who play Dhanush's best friends. The talented Abhay Deol, who plays Zoya's love interest, makes a special appearance in the film and leaves a special mark!
Though the film is not flawless, like some scenes in the second half which are easy to foretell, but again who cares! As a viewer, the film, the music and the performances touch your heart. For all the hopeless romantics who love a good romance, who love to feel the emotional tug and wait breathlessly to see if love will conquer all… Raanjhanaa is a movie you wouldn't want to miss!
