A decade ago, if you had asked any young actor which Bollywood star he has a crush on, the answer would most likely have been Madhuri Dixit or Sridevi. Or evenAishwarya Rai, who was still celebrating her success as the most beautiful woman in the world. These leading ladies redefined stardom and literally monopolised the imagination of a generation of actors with their beauty and acting, as well as the way they lived their lives. They were all about oomph and glamour, that unattainable ideal that was so heady. These women commanded attention, their reel life image overshadowing reality. But that was a decade ago. The names have changed now.
These days, the actor who has captured the imagination and senses of a generation of young stars is Kareena Kapoor, now Khan. In fact, a number of fast rising male stars have billed Kareena as the one they have had a crush on. The very first to admit to this was Ranveer Singh on an episode of Koffee with Karan. According to the then far more brash lad, it was his crush on Kareena Kapoor that played a key role in turning him into a man. While that raised eyebrows on the show and off it, Ranveer was so candid that we couldn't help but smile!
Imran Khan too had a similar confession. During an interview while promoting Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (in which he starred with Bebo), he admitted – red-facedly, since Bebo was sitting right next to him – that he did have a crush on the Chameli star for a while. He also famously said, "Everyone has a crush on Kareena Kapoor!" And now we read that the young turk Arjun Kapoor too has admitted that Kareena was his first genuine crush!
