CHAPTER-11.
Meera was truly amazed that she was not hurt at all after her sudden fall.She had been confident that by now,one or both of her arms and legs should be broken.
So with her eyes still closed tight shut,she tried to move one arm,in order to ensure it was not broken,she moved it too fast,and her hand bumped into something really hard.
"Ouch!!"She was shocked on hearing a male voice exclaim.
"Are you trying to break my nose now,as a favour for saving you?!" Said a now familiar male voice.
That is My Stranger's voice!!!Thought an astonished Meera,her heart beat suddenly accelerating like a maddened thing.She was not even aware,from when she had started thinking of him as Her Stranger.Slowly she opened her eyes wide,and stared right into those mesmerizing dark brown eyes...
"I've died for sure..."She whispered aloud in an unbelieving voice,her eyes round like saucers,unaware that she was still lying in Prithvi's arms.
"Angels never die.."Replied Her Stranger in that magical voice of his.
"Angels..?"Meera murmured in a puzzled voice.Not understanding what was happening...She kept staring into those mesmerizing dark brown eyes of Her Stranger..
Meera felt as if she had lost something precious ,when Her Stranger looked up,to point at the sky,breaking the eye contact,in the process.
"Since you are always falling from the sky,directly into my arms,you surely must be an angel,sent by God for me.?"He finisnhed the sentence on a husky note,looking back down at her,his lips quirked in a teasing naughty smile.
"What?!"Meera exclaimed out.Finally reality piercing her clouded senses,as she realized that she was lying in the stranger's strong arms,and hence not hurt.
As she looked up at the handsome face,now bearing a naughty smile,she suddenly remembered last night's kiss.and all her anger and fury at his insolent action came back.
"Let me go!!!"She snapped out,and started squirming to get down from the embarrassing position.
A surprised Prithvi loosened his arm,only a bit,remembering the last time he had listened to her and let go,and she had got hurt.So this time as he loosened his grip a little,and the squirming Meera,slid down his body,until her feet were on the solid ground.
Prithvi felt a jolt pass through his body,as her soft slim body slid down his hard well built one,and her sweet fragrance engulfed him once again,already blinding and clouding his senses.She was still held within the circle of his arms,and was leaning onto his body for support,her hands resting against his wide chest in navy blue shirt.Prithvi realized,he was loosing control again,and had not let go of her yet.
The dupatta of her yellow dress blew in the wind as they stared unblinkingly at each other.Meera wth a furious seething look,and Prithvi with a mesmerized one.Meera was feeling anger,but what she was making Prithvi feel with her slight leaning onto his body,or what Prithvi wanted to do to her at that moment,did not really bear contemplating..
"Prithvi..?"They both moved away from each other,instantly,on hearing Ramdhari Singh's voice.
"Prithvi?Is that you beta?"Ramdhari Singh called out again,as he walked upto them.
"Yes.Yes,it's me.."Prithvi managed to reply in an unusually husky voice,as he quickly turned to face the arriving man.
Ramdhari smiled at Prithvi and was about to give him a welcome hug,when he noticed Meera standing behind Prithvi.
"Miu?!What are you doing here,my beti?!"Asked an amazed Ramdhari.
Prithvi and Meera,both looked at each other quizzically,both without a clue,about what to answer.
"Did you two already meet each other?"Asked Ramdhari looking from one to the other,in a confused manner.
"We-"Prithvi's answer was interrupted by Meera,as she quickly came to stand infront of him,and out of her father's eye sight,clasped Prithvi's hand,giving it a warning squeeze.
"We just met now,Papa!"She exclaimed,giving an unusually bright smile at her father,and also at Prithvi.
Prithvi was dazzled by her beautiful smile,while at the same time,her eyes warned him not to say anything.He could not have said anything,even if he had tried to do so.His senses were reeling from the shock that was passing through his body,as the girl held onto his hand,out of her father's view,and dazzled him with her fake smile.
Prithvi kept staring unblinkingly at her smiling lips,when he felt,something was hurting his hand.The girl was deliberately squeezing shut the blood circulation to his hand,he realized,and signaling him to go along with her lie.
Prithvi hated lying and liars.But something in those eyes..Some desperation that he saw hidden behind that fake bright smile and warning look,forced him to lie this once to her father for her sake.
"Yes..Yes,we just met."He managed to say finally.
Ramdhari smiled at Prithvi's reply,his face finally clearing.
"Oh..Okay."He said."So,Prithvi,this is my beautiful,high spirited daughter,Meera..And Meera,this handsome young man over here is Prithvi..And it's only because of him that I'm still well and alive today."Ramdhari finished his introduction,with a smile,at both Prithvi and Meera.
Meera was stunned by the last part of her father's introduction!
"Because of him you are alive?!"An astonished Meera walked upto her father,and clutched his hand in concern,letting go of Prithvi's hand in the process.."What do you mean Papa?!What happened?!"Asked a concerned and scared Meera.
"Some goons had attacked me in the morning,and Prithvi here saved me."Explained Ramdhari."It's okay now..They are in jail and being questioned by the police,thanks to Prithvi.Don't worry now."Reassured Ramdhari,cupping her daughter's cheek lovingly.
"But Papa-"
"RAM!YOU HAVE A PHONE CALL!"Meera was interrupted by her mother calling her father from inside the house.
"You two come inside!"Said Ramdhari,and hurried into the house to take his call.
Prithvi who was silently fighting the sudden inexplicable,and illogical desolation he felt,as the girl suddenly let go of his hand.With that was the added surprise of her name.
Meera.Such a beautiful name...He was thinking to himself and later he also saw the concern and worry she felt for her father..
Prithvi kept staring at Ramdhari's departing back,lost in his thoughts,when he noticed the girl slowly turn to face him,and with a shocked expression on her face,and her beautiful thick lashed eyes misty,she looked up at him,with gratitude.
She is crying!Something inside Prithvi roared out in pain.How can I soothe her?!How can I reduce her pain?!These were the wild thoughts running through his mind,when he saw her beautiful rosy lips move.She is saying something.She is talking to me!He realized.So he quickly pulled himself out of his highly disturbing and chaotic thoughts.
"You saved Papa.."She was whispering.
"Thank you."She said to him,wiping away her tears,and turned to walk into the house.
Prithvi realized,his time alone with her was coming to an end,and he did not know why he reacted the way he did.But he only knew he had to do it.
Meera had taken a step towards the house,when abruptly,the man's hand shot out,and she was whirled back into the circle of his strong arms...
