Movies with sad endings :( Sadma

I saw Sadma the other day. It has by far the most disappointing, heart-breaking ending I have ever seen. I was so shocked and upset with the ending that I had trouble sleeping.

Many movies have sad endings, some of them are acceptable. Baazigar, Darr and Qayamat se qayamat tak for example, also had sad endings. But these didn't affect me much, because they seemed logical to an extent. They didn't disturb me like Sadma's ending did.

I don't know if it was the amazing acting by Sridevi and Kamal Hassan but Kamal Hassan's desperation in the last scene was extraordinary. When the train left the station, I kept staring at the end of the platform, waiting for Sridevi to come running back. She never came.

What do you think about Sadma's ending and movies with sad endings in general?

Which is the sad ending that affected you the most?

By the way, is Sridevi wearing a mangalsutra??? Was this the director's way of reducing the audience's frustration over the ending? Like, "it's good it ended this way because she's a married woman"? But where was her husband all along then?

Ya.. I remember having seen the movie when I was in 6th std after which I couldnt sleep for 4 days... Even now I dont have the guts to watch the ending.
I would love to see Kamal & Sridevi working together again.

Other movie endings which made me a bit sad:
HDDCS
Ghajini
Tere Naam
Ek duje keliye
QSQT

Devdas is a depressing movie and the ending was even more depressing when Dev babu dies in front of Paro's house. I was low for few days after watching that movie and I'm not sure if I was sad or angry

^same! And his paro ne kaha... dialogue breaks my heart too </3

And Aman's death in KHNH, I know it was logical and I think it was a beautiful ending and I wouldn't have liked it any other way...BUT...everytime I watch it, it leaves a huge lump in my throat and I feel low after watching it every single time...and I watch it A LOT, it's one of my most fav movies. I just keep thinking "what if..."...pretty weird. It's heart wrenching and I hate yet love it at the same time, if you know what I mean.

Another one is the death of the guys in RDB :( sukhi's main kunwara hi mar Gaya dialogue always gets me...awww. :(

Ajay's death in Baazigar...in his Mom's lap :( finally his mom and him were together but how. I was pretty disturbed after it :(

Devdas had a distressing ending. The way Paro scampers in reaction to finding out about Dev, and then is held captive behind closed doors, while Dev takes his last breath - left me in tears.
