Himani to play host in Antakshri

Star and Zee gear up to launch their " Antakshari's " this new year 2007

One of India's most loved television shows, Antakshari, will soon be back on screens across the country in a new double role avatar on Star One and Zee TV.

These shows will be hosted by Sunil Pal and Himani Kapoor on Zee, and by Annu Kapoor on Star. Thus, Anatakshari, which ran for 12 years on Zee TV, was taken off air early this year, has geared to start again with new enthusiasum.

Sunil Pal, the stand-up comedian will host the new season of Zee TV'S TITAN ANTAKSHARI from December 29 after Gajendra Singh quit the Zee platform for Star. Himani Kapoor, the contestant of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005, will co-host the show with him. While the original will be hosted by it's popular host Annu Kapoor.

The three teams of Deewane, Mastane and Parwane will be headed by Prachi Desai, Rajshree Thakur and Divyanka, the three most popular bahus of Zee serials. ' Man/Woman of the match' award has been constituted for each episode keeping in mind the upcoming Cricket World Cup. Director G N Shrisha has already started the shooting from December 20 and artistes from ' Kasamh Se' ' Saat Phere' and ' Dulhan Banoo Mein Teri' will appear on the show as contestants.

Gajendrra Singh, director and creator of the original Antakshari series admits, "We are introducing Antakshari in a new format and with a new concept, but the essence of the show will remain the same. I was looking to explore my creativity in a new way and Star has allowed me to do that."
He further said, "It was not a question of a fallout or anything. It was just that I felt my creativity had reached a stagnation point. When I presented my new concept to Star they were very positive."

The show's long-time host and actor Annu Kapoor will play host again with an as yet unnamed female anchor. "I will try to bring that era back and make my best effort, but I am nobody to guarantee success," Kapoor said.

According to sources, Zee has hurried the process of going on air with its new version of ' Antakshari' as it fears that if Gajendrra Singh's version goes on air at Star it will lose the initiative and the audience to the original creator.
