A niche to call her own |
Pallavi Subhash is simple and level-headed, very much like the character she plays in 'Karam Apnaa Apnaa,' discovers Ansy Austin |
Pallavi Subhash is the latest find of Ekta Kapoor. Pallavi has been signed in for Balaji's new daily soap Karam Apnaa Apnaa.
This talented and young actress, hailing from a middle class Marathi family, was earlier seen in Marathi serials such as Char Diwas Sasuche on ETV Marathi and Adhuri Ek Kahani on Zee Marathi.
This is the first Hindi serial that Pallavi has signed and she has great expectations both from herself as well as the serial.
How did you bag the role of 'Gauri' in Karam Apnaa Apnaa?
I had got a call from Balaji. Ekta had seen me in Tumhari Disha where I had done a 30 second role. There was no audition for me, I had to only come and sign the contract. I initially thought that it was a joke. But everybody told me to go for it.
What is 'Gauri' all about?
I play a Bengali girl from a middle class family. Sumeet Sachdev plays my fianc in this serial. Gauri is very sweet, someone who thinks about others and takes the responsibility of her family on her shoulders. She never expects anything from life and is not ambitious either. She is a very simple girl. In fact, I identify a lot with the character. Gauri is very much like me.
Do you think that you will be able to match with the 'Tulsi' and 'Parvati' roles that are being telecast?
'Tulsi' and 'Parvati' have their own image. I don't like being compared to anybody. I want to make my own position here.
Do you watch Balaji serials?
I watch Marathi serials. I don't watch too many Balaji serials. But now that I am working in one, I have started watching a few of them.
The differences between Hindi and Marathi serials.
The two are quite different. Not much when it comes to acting, but in terms of direction, yes, there is a huge difference.
Are you interested in films?
My Marathi movie Aila Re has just released in Pune. All in all, I have done ten Marathi films so far.
What are your expectations from life?
I just want my family to be happy. I also wish that the people who watch my shows appreciate my work in them.
