I was supposed to be studying but I had to post this...
I read a newspaper article today which had a debate on the topic"To Show or Not to Show"regarding censorship on Indian Television.
The debate was between Luke Kenny, Head of 9XO and Ajay Bhalwankar, Head of content, Hindi GECs, ZEE TV. I won't delve into details but one line of Ajay Bhalwankar cracked me up!
Quoting him -
" For instance, at Zee, we refrain from showing VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN or make castiest remarks, shop sleaze, rape, communally coloured content and exploitative reality programming.'
I am not specifically pointing towards the slap issue( let's not even go there) but there was another disconcerting scene which has stuck onto me since the Mangalpur episodes.
I remember Maryam's mother beating her sisters so harshly and even though the scene must not be for more than 10 seconds it had a huge impact on me.
Hostility Towards Women by Women is Also Violence, right?
I just wondered after reading that line if Ajay Bhalwankar has seen the show's episodes being aired on the channel.
This post is not to bash anyone and refrain from discussing the slap issue here. I don't intend to hurt any body's feelings and I'm sorry if I did but I wanted to share this piece of news as I don't believe that Violence against women is done only by men, women are a major culprits too.
I just thought this topic relates very well to the aforementioned incident in QH..don't know about other serials.
DON't BASH...I Just stated my view..you are free to state yours.(BUT NOT THE SLAP ISSUE..WE have had enough on that!)
