I'm the same, but the key operative is "I think". With my long droning posts etc - I'm a recluse and socially awkward dork here as well. 😆

If people appear to be more affectionate and friendly online what about those who appear so distant online? Would they be recluses in real life or would they be more friendly 🤔
We ought to have a separate thread and a poll on it for some members here 😆

Social recluses are friendly among their own chosen clique. They don't open up easily to strangers, take care in choosing friends for various reasons, the often stated one being that they treasure their bonds more strongly and personally than the usual extroverts.

The people above who claimed to be awkward in expressing affection as freely in real life did not mean that they were recluses. Only their degree of expression is a tad bit less.

No matter how much of one's online temperament differs from the real one in initial stages, overtime the latter takes over. As someone rightly said above, we can't role play for long 😃

My online personality is lesser of a klutz than my real one. I have a temper in real life while I tend to overlook anything here that could infuriate me given I believe that people who do them are touched in the head and the damage is beyond repair. I'm more comfortable being my online self and realize in both dimensions of my life that this is in fact a tad bit unhealthy.

Generally speaking, we have the choice of anonymity in cyberspace. We can divulge about ourselves only about as much as we like, I think that does the trick. I personally tend to feel more vulnerable adorning my real personality, it is far easier to strike friendships here and talk because when we come down to it it's as good as interacting with strangers who are not going to judge you. There's also the fact that everybody does not have an online personality. For those who do, I tend to feel it's always more comfortable than real life. I'm still to learn how I go about balancing both.
