Time for some introspection...

How different or similar is it for you guys and what could be the reasons behind the incongruence if any??

I'm the same way online and offline other than the fact that I don't cuss at work, for obvious reasons.

I am almost the same both online and offline. Bit more assertive in real life may be.

Yeah. I'd assume everyone's the same online or offline. How do you role play for such a long time anyway. Beats me. But of course there are exceptions... those that fabricate and weave stories for sympathy, attention or what have you as I've come to find out in recent times.😆😆

sounds very tiring . I come online to relax it would drain my already mundane mind. 😆

My real world totally different from virtual world...I think I feel more comfortable/funny/handsome/crazy/lovable/sensitive/smart and active in real worlds social networking...😊

I think it varies from person to person. At the end of day we are as good as what we write in the virtual world. So, a lot depends on our writing ability and power of expression. No matter how genuine our disposition is, we many a times are misinterpreted for failing to put it across as lucidly in our writing.

As for myself, I am more or less the same both on and off the internet. Only, I am much more careful with my words in reality since there is this option of edit available here on India forums which in real life we often overlook, especially when we let anger get the better of us.

Also we have an option to switch off completely from the virtual world, so there is a tendency to take things a bit more lightly than the same situation being transplanted to a real life setting.

Unless one is out to deceive, fabricate or make pretenses I think online personalities are just an extension of real personalities. People don't end up being very different.

Of course due to the difference in medium there are always some differences. Due to a sense of anonymity generally tend to be more upfront, frank and argumentative in the virtual world. People concerned with privacy tend to be more closed and unfriendly compared to the real world. Also due to the lack of emotional expression some people's temperament and emotions can be misunderstood and misread.The lack of facial expression or tone of voice can really impact how a personality is interpreted.
