Disclaimer: I am in no way trying to make Raj out as a terrible person. I have simply shared my thoughts on what has been shown so far and drawn the conclusion that he is NOT perfect...he is simply human with many shortcomings.

No offense whatsoever is meant to Raj fans so please take this in the light it was intended...😳

It is very evident that Raj's character is breaking the mold of "perfect" hero that we have all become accustomed to watching on television.

Raj is in no way the quintessential Prince Charming!

From what has been shown so far he isn't chivalrous/gentlemanly...he is a loner...constantly sad...could care less...he is brooding and not even in a sexy way...he is just plain sad!

A shadow of a man really and has been so for the past 10 years!

He is stuck in the past. He is just living for livings sake and has become a shell of his former self. Now there is hardly a trace of the man he once was. He does not stand up for anything and doesn't open up himself to anyone. Which is understandable...but to this extent?

It seems as if Raj has given up on himself and his dreams. He once was a very talented director who has now become a scrap dealer (not that there is anything wrong with this profession). It is as if he has purposefully turned his once bright future into a dark and dreary present where melancholy is his one and only constant companion since Divya left on that train!

Raj does not really care for his "wife" of ten years. On their very first night together he declared himself and just walked out on her. In what other show have you ever seen the husband sleeping on the bed while the wife sleeps on the floor?

From what I have seen in that Aunt's visit epi, he scolds his mother and sisters for taunting Sarita but does his words have any weight? No it does not because when his back is turned they continue to taunt and mistreat her.

Well he did suggest her re-marriage. To me, this shows that he wants her to be happy. He wants her to get her share of TLC which he is sure he will never be able to give her.

When he found out about Divya's engagement he was shocked & devastated. How unreasonable was that? He himself got married not long after Divya left for Mumbai...so what was he expecting there? Was he still waiting for her even after 10 years? And if he was then what about his wife?

He has not matured at all...as evidenced in his scene with Gaurav where he returns the bail money. His actions and words there were petty!

When Sarita told Raj she was leaving he didn't stop her...he didn't even show an iota of regret. He just accepted her decision as if it was bound to happen sooner or later and then goes on to tell her that he will get Bablu to arrange her ticket etc. He didn't even come to see her off or anything like that. My reasoning of his behavior here is that he has left the decision of her staying or leaving to her. He knows his shortcomings as a husband and will never force anything on her. If she wants to stay then it is up to her...if she wants to go then that is up to her too. If nothing else, he has granted her this freedom.

They haven't show him interacting with his sisters, mother or Daadi alone so I can't say anything on this. But it does seem to me that he was once close to Sheila since she is the only one in the household that knows about Divya being his love.

Well in summing it up,the fact remains that Raj is imperfect as the hero but he is the hero of the show nonetheless. I am eager to see if and how they will redeem him...

Either Divya or Sarita, who ever he ends up with...he needs to work on becoming deserving of that woman! Because, to be perfectly honest, he is barely likable to me as a leading man so far... I really hope to see more insight into him in the coming weeks...

On a side note...kudos to our leading man Karan V. Grover for bringing this complex character alive so awesomely! 👏 👏 👏

very well written dear ! you are right ! he has done unfair to Sarita--- and he is unusual imperfect hero --like you said he does not care about anything -- he become doll of the house...that he does not care--- of any one ---As we have seen his mother is useless followed by her 2 sisters--- nothing seems good in this house...no one has heart--- everyone has become like brat--- by passing day--- I am not liking the Raj ---
I want Sarita to fight back and moved out and teach Raj a lesson --- also if PunarVivah happen -- I do not want the punar vivah of Either Divya or Sarita with Raj :(

I want new hero to make entry to get Sarita give justice and Raj get jealous of not valued his wife -- so loving --- and caring -- Jealousy -- track---
but this RAJ fellow is heartless -- become STONE -- He has no emotions, no values, nothing--- he just live for living-- he has no dream -- nothing--- and he is the worst character i have seen as a husband--- even Villan heart mellow down in 1 year--- but 10 years --- Not a good concept--- to tell the viewers not satisfying----- 2 -3 years gap is good -- to make Sarita Move--- for 10 years -- she is living under 1 roof--- and have not even earn anything-- that is too much -- it is injustice--- in today's world--- no one lives like this in anyhousehold--- it does not connect with reality--------:( horrible ---

😆 The doll of the house...that's a funny way of putting it! But I agree...

Ever since Divya left him it's as if he is just cruising through life on auto-pilot...

I won't say he is the worst...as there are some real monsters out there. At least he isn't a drinker (haven't seen any signs of it so far) or a wife beater.

I think he is redeemable...it just has to be done in the right way.

Yes I feel this 10 years leap is illogical so far...

agree with u vedo. He is an imperfect hero. He first of all ignored sarita and none show has shown a wife sleeping on floor and husband on bed. Raj is not coming in front he is still stuck in past and when he got to know about divya's engagement then he got devasted but then he dint want to marry he was forced to and still he waited for divya so somewhere I feel that he had all the rights to be angry.

As far as sarita's decision I think he had expected it to happen but it took this long but still he should have shown some respect atleast.

He forgot to live his life he is doing everything mechanically.

Interacting with is sisters and mother well that seems hasn't happened for 10 yrs.

But I still don't understand why 10 yrs and why not 5yrs or 6yrs.

hope they show his character side more and bring back life in him he is shown like a dead leaf. He should be shown more of life and back to the raj who was full of dreams and hopes

Vishaka, I am not anybody's fan at the moment. I am just finding characters these 4 characters interesting. They are not giving much reasoning for Raj's transformation in last 10 years, so hard to understand his actions.

But based on last 2-3 episodes, I am finding Raj a very different "hero" character in the limited history of soaps I have watched so far. He is such a flawed character that he should get a reward in having this kind of convoluted thinking. At least this is my interpretation based on what has been shown so far. It may change based on what they show in future about Raj and his actions.

There are other shows where the male lead may be tied to a woman he doesn't love. Even then he is courteous to her on levels and protects her. Then he is nice to the rest of his family and heroine/side character's family etc. The only person a typical hero torments is the girl he loves (female lead).

But here Raj is exceptional. Let me write why I am now finding him fascinating as he is such a self-centered character and destructive one too. He is happy wallowing in his misery for 10 years. In some sense, he and Sarita are quite well matched as both want others to suffer (Gaurav and Divya) as they have suffered for 10 years. They don't want Gaurav/Divya to be happy unless they are happy.

1. He doesn't care for anybody or anything. It seems that he cares more for plants than any human being. So even though nobody in his family blame him, he is aloof from them too. He does have some awareness of Sarita in the sense that he takes care of her physical discomfort. So he switches off the fan, but ignores the mental abuse she gets from his family. He does not drop her at the bus stand, but makes sure that his assistant is there to take Sarita to the bus stand and make sure that she is on the bus. Of course, it may be possible that he wants to make sure that she is leaving his city. Well, that makes him unique because all heroes take care of everybody.

2. I was wondering about his reasoning for letting Sarita sleep on the floor or feeling betrayed that Divya did not come back to him when she returned to Bhopal. Now it seems that his ostrich like behavior (ignoring Sarita to such an extent for 10 years) makes it easy for him to pretend that he is not married. So in his mind, he is still free. That's why he doesn't give his bed to Sarita as that bed is meant for Divya. He is being faithful to Divya in every way. Since Sarita doesn't exist, Divya can come back to him and they can play house.

3. If he could speak in favor of Sarita once in 10 years, why has he been silent about her treatment before that. Well, it seems that he wanted Sarita to walk out of his life. So in his convoluted thinking, he had married her and hence cannot ask her to leave him. So wondering if he wanted her to be so fed up with all the abuse and indifference that she leaves him. He seems to be aware of Sarita's misery. So it seems that he wanted her to leave him. That way he is free of her and can have Divya in his life when she comes back. That's why he didn't even blink when Sarita told him of her decision to leave him for ever.

4. Now like a hero, will he be nasty to Divya. Or will he be worshiping her once she comes back in his life. Well, that remains to be seen.

So it is kind of interesting to watch such a character. He may not be a likeable person at the moment, but is a complex person for sure.

Aside: He and Divya do have a great chemistry. It is good to see these flashbacks, but I am interested in seeing more of a meaningful back-story along with past romantic scenes. The story is too fast paced and Divya/Raj needs to be explained more properly. Actually, Sarita also needs to be explained more properly. I don't want to see repetitive scenes of abuse. Instead I want to understand why Sarita has stayed like this for 10 years or why she married him.

The makers know people wants smth new when a show starts.. and raj is that element which attracts curiousity...why is this guy so cold...beauty is found within the imperfection..they are selling this big time, and we greedyly are buying it..

If this show wishes to stick to the concept of Punar Vivah, I really wish the PV that happens should be of Sarita as she's the one who needs it the most!!

I am really not expecting Raj to have an outrageous transformation and realise love for Sarita. All I wish is that he realises what Sarita missed out in the past 10 years because of him. 10 years is too long a time to waste in futile hope.
If Sarita was an idiot enough to stay back for 10 years, so was Raj not to make her realise this. Atleast that was his basic responsibility as a human being.

I really wish Divya gives him a long lecture after which he wakes up and makes attempts for PV of Sarita just for the sake of rehabilitating her. What happens that is not of my concern (if Raj n Divya end up together or he reconciles with Sarita or if Sarita refuses this help from him and wants to return to her own world) but I really wish to see an attempt to help Sarita from his end if at all he's supposed to be a positive character.

Still his character is not yet fully been told so far he does appear imperfect and emotionally we feel he stonewalled himself but work wise he does seem very hardworking😉

10 years leap cant be for Divya as she had made her family her siblings settled in 4 to 5 years .she had got the show probably after 3 years as it ran for 7 years .

so this is not for Divya.

It can't be for raj too. As he became stone when Divya left and he is till the same.

Now bacha kaun ?? Sarita . Of course they want audience to sympathy with her more and more and are showing her crying only till now . I feel sorry for her but it doesn't mean you don't show anything else.Now I feel forced to see - abuse and abuse all the time and now as sarita gives back everytime. It feels like its a yudth not show.
