heres an article where Phulwa is also mentioned.its an old article of feb2011.phulwa part is in bold red.

Ready for a slice of reality?

The recently released Rani Mukerji-Vidya Balan starrer No One Killed Jessica, inspired by the Jessica Lall murder case in Delhi, has set a trend in the industry. And now television seems to be catching on showing a slice of reality as well.

Sukesh Motwani, fiction head of a channel, insists that the response to shows like Gita (about a woman who misuses the law of section 498 that allows a woman to get her in-laws arrested for harassment without evidence), or Dil Se Diya Vachan (about a rape victim) is only one of the many factors to air such shows. "Whether or not the TRPs shoot up, there are certain stories that need to be told," says Sukesh.

Another show, the Ashutosh Rana-Sonali Kulkarni starrer Kaali, seems to have sought inspiration from a molestation case that had made headlines a few years back. Even though the channel insists this is not the case, sources say that this is not a new phenomenon. "This way the channel will be absolved of any disparities in the future. But then it's justified if a channel says that a particular show can't be isolated to one infamous incident itself," says the source.

Ashvini Yardi, programming head of another channel that airs shows like Rishton Se Badi Pratha(inspired by honour killing incidents), Phulwa (about an 11-year-old girl who becomes a dacoit in the Chambal ravines) and Mukti Bandhan (supposedly based on Dhirubhai Ambani's life), also agrees that there has been an increase in real-life inspired shows on the Indian TV.

"People love to watch soaps that represent human emotions at their best. The soap should be entertaining with a crisp, relatable storyline. We also make it a point to revamp or adapt the same as per our viewers' sensitivities," says Ashvini.

Creative director of Phulwa, Siddharth Tewary, sums up the trend, "The public prefers such shows over regular soaps that harp on kitchen politics. These are shows that people like to look up to and seek inspiration from in their personal crisis period."

Thanks for sharing Dolly.😊

True, shows that inspire themselves from reality are different from the usual pointless shows. Phulwa was the perfect example of a story a class apart, wish people had seen that too and moved away long enough from the same old exaggerated saans-bahu stuff to appreciate it.

an old TOI article abt shows wid hate love story. i m posting phulwa's part

Hate you, like I love you

Amrita Mulchandani Feb 3, 2012, 12.00AM IST
(Still from Bade Achhe Laggte…)

Though, love stories have always been the main flavour on entertainment television, most prime time shows these days seem to feature lead couples who love to hate each other. Love with a tangy twist is the new formula to success!

The most common pattern that has emerged is the much-in-hate married couple going through a transformation of feelings, which leads them to surprise, surprise, falling in love with each other! You don't need to wrack your grey cells too much to think of the set situations that soapmakers follow to drive home their 'hate turns to love' formula - in the beginning the romantic leads usually hate the sight of the significant other, then by a quirk of fate/circumstances, end up married to each other, and after a series of verbal duels and a lot of eyelock, almost consummation scenes, cupid gradually strikes. Shows like Bade Achhe Laggte Hai, Phulwa, Dil Se Di Dua...Saubhagyavati Bhava?, Parichay, Dharampatni, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, Sasural Simar Ka and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya are perfect examples of this trend.

Few show makers feel that the surprise element in a show works for the best (read helps the TRPs). "If the audience expects a particular couple to fall in love and that doesn't happen, they wait for them to fall in love. The longer a couple takes to fall in love, the more curiosity it creates amongst the audience. And once the lead couple are together, we give new dimensions to their relationships, so that the love story grows from strength to strength," says producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary of Phulwa.

Actor Sargun Mehta of Phulwa says, "It's the wait for the couple to fall in love that makes the love for a show stronger. The fun is in the fight and the nok jhok which later leads to love. Well, this is the most easy and commercially tried and tested formula to success. It's just about playing safe now."

Love or hate, looks like TV shows are only about TRPs!

by Sampun Media

Jannat Zubair Rahmani, the child star of Indian television will be back in the near future to entertain the audience as the younger version of well known Indian dacoit Phoolan Devi. According to reports in the media, the new show on Colors television titled 'Phulwa' is inspired from the true life story of Phoolan Devi, the notorious dacoit who operated from the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in India. Jannat Zubair Rahmani was ;last seen in the television soap 'Kashi' on Imagine TV.

Announcement of Jannat Zubair Rahmani being a part of 'Phulwa' comes after it was reported that the child artist ill also portray a role in actress Hema Malini's television production 'Maati Ki Banno'. Therefore the little girl's career as an actress is going great guns. Reports from representatives of Colors TV say that Jannat Zubair Rahmani will feature in only the first few episodes of 'Maati Ki Banno' where she plays the child who grows up to be the lead actress of the serial.

However, her role in 'Phulwa' is reportedly a substantial one. Jannat Zubair Rahmani will be a part of the serial, also airing on Colors, for more than two months after which the producers will decide on a time leap. It was Jannat Zubair Rahmani's mother who confirmed the news to the media.

Let's face it, being mind-blowingly original has seldom been a desi serial's prerogative; for the most part serials rely on standard plot devices for their content.

'how many times has that been written and said? And yet serials continue to thrive in India. Shailesh Kapoor, CEO of Ormax Media Pvt. Ltd., "India's only specialist consumer research company for films, television, radio and other entertainment industries", wrote a fascinating blog post last year about the business of TV. He noted that the Indian film industry's net revenue is about 30% of the television industry's net revenue. With 600 million Cable & Satellite viewers in India and serials sometimes getting a consistent TRP of 7, meaning 42 million viewers tuning in to a serial on a daily basis ' is it a wonder that daily soaps litter the GEC space?

While heroines tend to have cute sequences when tipsy, usually sequences where only the hero is drunk tend to be of the angsty variety. It goes without saying that the hero in this case intentionally drinks heavily to drown his sorrows. The angst most often relates to a lost love, and the focus is on depicting conflicted feelings. The heroine, especially, gets the chance to reflect upon the situation because she realises she wants to be there for the hero, but she also knows that he is thinking of the girl he lost and not her.

This sequence from Phulwa (2011-) has its flaws but that matters little when an avid follower knows the storyline and is well aware of the quagmire of emotions the jodi are experiencing. In this sequence a drunk Abhay accuses Phulwa for ruining his life by marrying him by deception, which is highly ironic given that he was the first to ruin hers. He became a part of Phulwa's band of dacoits by pretending to be a petty thief though he was actually an undercover police officer. He manipulated Phulwa into falling in love with him only to then turn the tables and arrest her and her gang in a publicly humiliating manner. Phulwa manages to win in court though and gets out. Disturbed by the kind of bitter and mean person he has become, Abhay's fiance, Inspector Aarti Bajaj, decides that she will help him reflect on his life by letting Phulwa take her place during her wedding with Abhay. The betrayal is discovered only after the wedding and by then it is too late. Phulwa is perfectly placed to exact her revenge on Abhay and his family. Phulwa, however, still has lingering feelings for Shatru, the identity Abhay had adopted when with her gang. In this sequence Abhay mocks Phulwa for believing he ever loved her and explains that the deception was his duty, not as a police officer ' but as a brother: she killed his half-brother and he was avenging his murder because his father asked him to. Little does he know that his brother and father murdered Phulwa's entire family as a child and years later she only killed his brother in self-defence. The rest of the sequence, where Abhay is blurting everything he's repressed for so long, helps both Phulwa and the viewer understand that the Abhay they hate as a traitor isn't cruel by nature but misguided by circumstances. He seems to despise Phulwa because he believes she is a cold-blooded murderer, but he also suffers from self-loathing because of everything he's done.

'without all that context the sequence may come off as a bit of a disjointed mess but with months and months of watching the plot build to a crescendo there's nothing more satisfying for a viewer than an epic song sequence that gets what everyone's thinking out in the open!

Bigg Boss To Be Replaced By Phulwa And Mukti Bandhan On Colors

Two powerful primetime fiction shows will be aired from January 10 in the 9-10 pm band.

BestMediaInfo Bureau | Delhi | January 6, 2011

After the tremendous success of Bigg Boss Season 4, COLORS is all set to launch two spectacularly diverse shows in the 9 – 10 pm primetime slot. 'Phulwa' and 'Mukti Bandhan' will take the viewers to two extreme worlds with stories that pan out from one end of the spectrum to another – an eleven year old playful girl living in the ravines of Chambal to the plush lifestyle of an egoistic top-rung fifty something businessman in Mumbai. Come this New Year, audiences will witness two clutter-breaking journeys in 60 minutes. Launching January 10, 2011, Monday – Thursday are two shows bringing in amazing variety in the primetime line-up with Phulwa at 9.00 pm followed by Mukti Bandhan at 9.30 pm.

Talking about the launch of Phulwa and Mukti Bandhan, Ashvini Yardi, Head- Programming, COLORS said "Bigg Boss Season 4 has given us the eyeballs and we now plan to sustain the same and take it to the new level. With the launch of these two new shows our effort is to present varied set-ups that will intrigue the audience across demographics. With Phulwa we will be bringing alive India's rural heartland while Mukti Bandhan will, for the first time on Indian television, will see a fifty year male protagonist in a prime time show. We are confident that our viewers will like the two offerings for their fresh concepts and unique stories".

Phulwa is an endearing story of a young bubbly girl trapped in a ruthless spat between the villagers. In her fight against injustice created by the Thakurs of the infamous Chambal, she loses her innocence at the tender age of 11. Set against the rustic backdrop of Chambal ravines known for harboring dacoits or beheads in its rustic valleys for centuries; Phulwa is produced by Swastik Pictures.

Siddharth Tewary, Creative Director of Swastik Pictures, who has also written Phulwa said, "Phulwa means a flower and a little flower does not know what will be its destiny …but this series is a story of a flower which decided to create her own destiny. Phulwa is a young girl's journey of how she witnesses the atrocities of the higher caste, how she decides to face the challenges ahead of her and how she creates her own destiny."
