You take 100-200 episodes for the lovers to confess, another 100 episodes for them to consummate their marriage. That special night is always the most awaited scene for fans, especially the younger generation. We think...THATS IT! The consummation scene is kind of the means to the end of the love story.

The scene itself wasn't graphically bold and the media should really go learn the ABCD of their work again! Isn't it quite ironical that them coming together physically actually made their future love story even more pure? Isn't the novel more about the soul connection more than anything else? Now, in the show Saras and Kumud have already become one physically. The 'sex' wasn't the means to an end. It just makes me wonder...what is actually stored for them in the future? I have these images of a married Kumud who silently yearns to be with her soulmate yet in her heart knows she is with him anyway and he is with her infinitely. Even today she did not doubt his love and nor will she ever. The two might just be happy residing in each others hearts regardless of any relationship given. Loving each other without any expectations.

Maybe this is why I've always been more excited about their love after Kumud's marriage because it is actually the main crux of their love story. It is what made them legendary in the literature world. Could we see the unseen with this kind of love?

Nice post . Exactly people need to understand the main concept here " muqqammal mohabbat ki adhuri dastaan ". Their love story is epic because without being together physically / in any relation they will still be together always. As a matter of fact the real story will start after kumud being married to someone else. I too am waiting for that eagerly.

I admit though I don't like sad endings and I do want them to be together in the end. Hope that happens.

i agree with u reemz regarding the uniqueness of saras kumud relationship ,infact i am watching it for its novelty

but then i disagree regarding the legendary status of the novel as a love story of saras kumud

the show has taken its inspiration from novel but is not at all like novel and the reason why novel is legendary and i am quit happy with that ...coz novel is about something very different which cannot be shown in daily soap where trp is an issue.

would love to see the novel in actual made by some great director on doordarshan where they dont twist things for trp

now coming back to the saras kumud love stroy...well i do like its hatke treatment

its a mature love story and u need to open ur minds to really get the feel of it.

I love this passion and longing which i know will exist even when kumud unfortunately gets married wrongly.

saras kumud will do their best to follow morals , social norms , maan maryada but will never be able to deny their true feelings for each other and it is then when the so called social laxman rekha starts going blur and u urself find that these two star crossed lovers r never wrong

which we find even now coz love is purest and if u feel it with faith then no action of love is wrong ,

Beautiful post! The beauty of Saras and Kumud's love story is in the fact that they have a connection that is unseen, and has been there since day one - when Kumud first saw Saras in her dream. I'll admit that I'm a sap and sad endings make me cry like anything but for some reason I watched SC despite knowing that the end wouldn't be too happy. The pure love story just had me hooked from the first episode.

It hasn't even been 100 episodes yet and the two have already consummated. Not because their love story is complete and done with, but because it's just beginning.

Thank you Reema for talking about the essence of the scene and its impact on their love story rather than the blame game.. who was wrong ? who was right? I for one, am very happy with the whole treatment of the love making scene.. Why? Because it focused more on what led to it and its repercussions rather than the act itself.. This actually goes to show that the scene was put not to garner TRP's but to achieve something important as far as the storyline is concerned.. It added very key elements to the story and has placed the plot in a very interesting point, from where it could go anywhere.. A lot will be put to test , the characters individually and their ways of dealing with it... all the promises made to each other and their respective parents about trust being the basis of relationships, about supporting each other at all times.. self introspection, their individual take on love and relationships. will be under self scrutiny... '' Mardo ko moh ka shraap hota hai aur aurton ko maryada ka vardaan '' the different perspectives of a man and woman..will they understand each other's view point... ?? we'l see in the coming days..

Now coming to the scene itself..., Kumud putting the garland on him in my opinion, triggered the whole scene.. Saras was just expecting an affirmation but exchanging garlands on the auspicious night of full moon, took the whole thing on another level... Her washing his foot with her hands and wiping it with her dupatta was the next trigger.. i didn't feel it regressive at all.. if he can take her injured foot on his lap and tend to it as if he was caressing a flower, why is it regressive if she does it for him..? It is the willingness of a highly self esteemed woman to serve her man out of love that comes across through this scene for me..she made Saras feel that he has a special place in her heart..Loved his expression.. he was too overwhelmed to even stop her.. Wife touching her husband's feet is not regressive for me.. its just a gesture of respect from the woman's side for her man and if it gets reciprocated by the kind of love Saras has for Kumud, why should it be regressive.. I find it very beautiful.. I thought that scene was very SLB.. The effect that gesture had on Saras was like a point of no return... He viewed her in a completely different light from there on... His intentions very pure and very clear... he wanted to savour her, feel the emotion of loving and being loved.. '' her ehsaas, her jazbaat ko mehsoos karna chahta hoon'' he wanted to make love to her...he took her permission for that..When he was caressing her arms, it felt like his body was aching to make love to her... How could she resist those gentle caresses and those longing eyes.. she gave in...

Her remorse next day, all that crying and bitterness towards Saras was NOT an act of accussing Saras.. AT ALLL !!!! It was only and only the guilt of not being able to hold herself back and having that so important self -restraint that is instilled in her value system.. Kumud is progressive, bold, educated, modern and everything but the righteous girl brought up in a house where maan maryada is an asset that you are expected to protect at all times, is bound to judge her own actions.. Her father proudly says that they have drawn a line that they know she is never gonna cross.. wouldn't those words ring in her ears? She herself takes pride in saying that her father may not have earned a lot of money, but he has earned a lot of respect in life.. Wouldn't she fear that her act can jeopardize his respect in the society , if god forbid anyone comes to know of it..? More than anything else, she blames herself for not having the self control ..for turning the boon of ''maryada'' into a curse.. She doesn't blame Saras.. In her mind, men giving in to desire is permissible... but women doing the same is not permissible... Saras coming near her is agonizing her more because it reminds her of her own folly... She trusts him and his love immensely.. Its her own self that she doesn't trust... especially around him.. I feel bad for Saras.. he was in no two minds.. For him, the act of making love to her was as sacred as offering prayer in a temple.. he can never associate the word ''paap'' with it... I hope he tries to look at things from her point of view.. only he can at the moment.. she is too drowned in self remorse to see anything straight or even cherish the most beautiful moment of her life..

I am disappointed and surprised
Disappointed because SC novel is about eternal love where physical relationship never mattered. SC was loved because although physically they were not near their love lasted. After saying SC is adaption of novel you change the soul of the story? This no longer is a eternal love story.
Next what Kumud will marry pramod and have SC child like many serials nowadays.
OR Kumud will pramod only because she spent a night with saras because he refuse to marry her and to save her family honor she marry pramod.
And saras i am surprised till 2 days back he is asking sunny please tell me how to propose and now he has already spent night with his lady love?
And kummud who has willingly parricipated next day acts as is saras is some villan and must stay away from her as if he committed all sin and she is sati savitri.
I think the essence of story has been compromised.
