Ram Kapoor comes to rescue
Makers of a TV show bring on board popular actor in a cameo role to drive up falling TRPS

Although the daily soap, Sanskaar, was launched four months ago with much pomp and show, it failed to achieve satisfactory TRPs. Now in an attempt to give the serial a much-needed shot in the arm, its makers have roped in popular actor Ram Kapoor to do a cameo.
"Ram will be seen in few episodes. We wanted to get an actor who was lovable and flamboyant and Ram fit the bill," says the show's producer, Swapna Waghmare Joshi.
Ram will be seen on the show in the first week of June and his stint will last for more than a week.
He will play a jovial businessman, Purshottam Patel Kapoor, an NRI who has lived abroad for over 30 years. He will be cast as Bhoomi's (the show's lead character) brother and will enter the show at a point when the family is going through troubles.
"Ram is one of the top TV actors in India today. By having him on the show, we want to give the audiences what they love. In fact, he himself was keen to work with us. He first agreed to do the cameo and then asked which show he'd feature in," says Prashant Bhatt, head of fiction of the channel.
Ask him if Ram's presence will boost the TRP of the show and he says, "Yes, but that's not the priority. We'd have got him on board even if the show had a TRP of 5."
