Part 2

The next morning when Sharad got up he saw Asad standing outside in the balcony looking straight into nothingness. He got out of the bed and walked up to him.

Sharad: "Hey buddy! Where are you lost?"
Asad got startled for a moment but recovered and replied.
"Nothing. The same dream."
Sharad: "You have been seeing the same dream for two months now. Ab to tu usay bother bhi nai krta tu. Phir aj kiun munh latkaya huwa e?"
Asad: "It was different this time. I saw her face."
Sharad: "Wait. Let me guess. Was this the same girl you met yesterday? Kia naam tha uska, haan Zoya?"
When Asad nodded his head in the affirmative, Sharad fell silent for some time. Then he said.
Sharad: "Iska ek he matlab hai mere Bhai. Uper walay ka sign e. She is the one. Warna do maheene se tujhe kiun ek he khwab a raha e?"
Asad: "Iska ek he matlab hai. Even if she is the one, I should stay away from her. I will just end up hurting her. I can't be any good to her."
Sharad: "Tu negative he kiun sochta e? Phir tu khudi kehta e jo kuch insan ke liye Khuda sochta e usay insan badal nai sakta. Agar wo teri kismet e na tu jitna bhi door bhag le us se Uper wala phir kareeb le ayega tum dono ko."
Asad: Chal rehne de. Jaldi tyar ho ja. Railway station se teri ticket lene jana hai, phir Nitish ki taraf bhi jana hai."

"Jaldi karo yar sab. Train nikal jaegi." Rehan shouted at his friends outside their hotel rooms.
"Nai nikalti tumhari train. Mujhe to ye samajh nai a rahi k do ghentay pehlay railway station ja ke baithne ki tuk kya banti hai?" An agitated Zoya replied as she came out of her room.
"You guys take the luggage outside and load it in the cab. In the meanwhile I will go, check out of the hotel." Ali said to them and started to walk towards the stairs.

They were sitting on a bench at the railway station. Zoya looked around, observing people for some time. When she got bored she cursed Rehan out loud about a hundredth time.
"Abhi tak to train bhi nai ayi.What are we doing here?"
Just then she saw a familiar face walking towards the tickets booth. Having nothing else to do she decided to walk up to him and kill time by talking to him. All her friends were busy playing games on their cell phones. She had forgotten to charge hers last night.

Just as he turned around after taking Sharad's ticket, Asad saw her standing in front of him.
Zoya: "Assalamualaikum."
Asad: "Walaikumusalam. Ap yahan kesay?"
Zoya: "We are leaving for Dehli today."
Sharad came closer to both of them and introduced himself.
"Hey. I am Capt. Sharad. Asad's friend. You must be Zoya."
Zoya: "O hey Sharad. How do you know my name? Does he tell you about every random girl he meets?"
Sharad: "No. Only the special ones."
Zoya smiled in response and asked him.
"Where are you people going?"
Sharad: "Well. Abhi to hum just tickets lene aye thay. Kal jaenge. I will go back to Pune and he is going up North. Yahan hum apne friend ki shadi pe aye thay."
Zoya: "Cool. Matlab abhi free ho?"
Sharad: "Absolutely."
Asad: "Nai. We have to go to'"
Sharad: "We are free. Apne shopping ki yahan pe?"
Zoya: "Nai. Mere friends boht he boring hain. Can you take me to koi acha sa bazaar. Ap ko to pata hoga na yahan ka. Train chalne main abhi pooray do ghentay paray hain."
Sharad: "Sure."
Zoya: "Okay then. Main apne friends ko bta ke ati hoon."
She ran back to her friends and asked them if any of them wanted to tag along. None of them wanted to go. Rehan tried to stop her but she was adamant. She picked up her handbag and ran back to Asad and Sharad.
"Let's go."

They were finally seated in Asad's Army jeep and on their way to the bazaar. Asad asked her.
"You just met me yesterday. Ap ek esi jaga pe jahan ap kisi ko bhi nahi janteen, hmare sath esay he agayeen."
Zoya: "Haan to? Vese ek baat btaun apko? Ajeeb si baat hai par phir bhi. Listen. I saw you in my dream yesterday."
Asad tensed a little at this but she continued. He relaxed when he realized her dream was not remotely what he had been seeing for the last two months.
Zoya: "I saw that I am about to board a train but then you come running, take my hand and we start running in the opposite direction. After some time we board another train or hum paharon main pohnch jatay en. Then I woke up."
Sharad: "Do you believe dreams mean something?"
Zoya: "Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't."
Sharad: "What could this dream of yours mean?"
Zoya: "I don't know. Wese mujhe boht se meaningless khwab atay rehte en. So I don't bother my dreams. Ye wala khwab thora ajeeb tha."
Asad: "We have reached the bazaar. Ap zara jaldi kr len warna ap ki train miss ho jaegi."

Zoya spent her sweet time looking for saaris for herself and her mother. Whenever Asad tried to remind her to hurry up, Sharad told her to shop all she wanted as she wasn't going to come to Agra ever again. By the time she was done she realized, only five minutes were left for her train to leave. They tried to reach the Railway station on time but she missed the train.
Zoya: "Oh no! My passport is in Rehan's bag. What am I supposed to do now?"
Sharad: "You can come with us. Phir sochte hain kya kiya ja skta hai."
Asad: "Call your friends. Board the next train to Dehli."
Zoya: "My cell is dead."
Asad: "Don't worry. Take my cell. I will go and check when the next train leaves."
Sharad: "Main check krta hoon."
After some time he came back and told them.
"Aj railway ki koi strike e. Ye last train thi aj ki. Ab jo bhi train jani e kal jaegi."
Zoya: "Ab mai kya karun?"
Asad: "Don't worry. Strike railway ki hai. Ap bus pe to ja skti hain."
Sharad: "Bus pe kaise ja skti hain. She shouldn't travel without her passport. I think you should come to our mess with us Zoya."
Zoya: "Yah."

She accompanied them to the Officer's Mess. Sharad and Zoya spent rest of the day watching movies while Asad stayed locked in his room. When Sharad went to his room to call him, Asad blasted him for his behavior.
Asad: "What do you think you are doing?"
Sharad: "What am I doing?"
Asad: "Subha uski train sirf teri wajha se miss huwi. Tere khyal main is se kya hoga?"
Sharad: "Wahi hoga jo manzoore khuda hoga."
Asad: "Kuch bhi nai hoga. Ulta kisi bari problem main phans jae gi wo."
Sharad: "Tu hai na uski chinta krne ke liye! Aja bahir ab."
Asad: "Tu chahta kya e Sharad. Just because I feel attracted towards her doesn't mean waqei hmare beech kuch ho skta hai. Phir tu usko kisi bahane se yahan ek din rok le ya ek hafta koi farak nai parne wala."
Sharad went out after telling him to come out once again.

At dinner time, Sharad asked Zoya to call him. Zoya went to his room and knocked at his door. When he didn't answer after knocking thrice she entered his room. She heard the sound of shower running in his washroom. She sat down on a sofa in the corner of the room to wait for him. A file lay open on the table in front of her. Feeling curious she bent forward to have a look. It was his movement order for Dehradun. Just then she heard the door unlock. She sat up straight.
Zoya: "Come for dinner."
Asad: "Ap chalain. I am coming."
Zoya: "You have been posted in Dehradun?"
Asad: "Yes. Sharad ne bataya apko?"
Zoya: "I so want to see that place. Pata hai jab say main ne Dehradun dekha e na Barfi main, I have been dreaming about visiting that place."
Asad: "Barfi mai? Ap mithaion main jaghain dekhti en?"
Zoya: "Oho Barfi movie hai na. Ap movies nai dekhte?"
Asad: "Not very often."
Zoya: "Chlen main ja rai hoon. Ap a jaen."

Zoya went back to Sharad and asked him.
"Tumne mujhe btaya kiun nai he is going to Dehradun?"
Sharad: "Slipped my mind."
Zoya: "Mujhe Dehradun jana e wapis janay se pehle."
Sharad: "Not a problem. Just play along. Asad kya uske farishtey bhi tumhe sath le ke jaige."

While having their dinner Sharad asked Zoya.
"So did you tell your friends not to wait for you in Dehli?"
Zoya: "Yah they have already left for Amritsar. Par mere passport ka kya hoga?"
Sharad: "Uski chinta nai karo. Maine apne ek dost se baat kr li hai. Tum mere sath Pune chalo wo wahan bhej de ga tmara passport."
Asad: "Pune kis liye?"
Sharad : "Oho now we can't leave her alone without her passport."
Asad: "Uh Zoya ap keh rahi theen ke apko Dehradun dekhna hai. Pune main kahan rahain gi ap. Pune wese bhi zyada door hai Lahore se. To if you want to come to'"
Zoya: "Really? Do you even need to ask me?"
She made a thumbs-up sign to Sharad under the table.

After dropping Sharad at the railway station the next day, Asad and Zoya started their journey towards Dehradun in his Jeep.

Asad woke up sweating profusely. This time the dream had been even more vivid.
