She should have just worn an elegant saree and it would have been all. I personally don't care about clothes as long as she's doing what she's supposed to be doing - showcasing and representing India and Indian cinema with confidence. But yes, that ghoonghat outfit was quite funny and actually reminded me of one of Lady Gaga's disastrous experiments (notwithstanding the scale of the disaster ofcourse, no comparisons there)

Vidya Balan is part of the prestigious jury at the ongoing 66th Cannes Film Festival. From the moment Vidya first stepped on the Cannes Red Carpet, there has been a lot of talk about her sporting traditional Indian wear at Cannes. While she got many supporters for her outfit choices designed by Sabyasachi, she also received a flak for not being 'global' enough in this International fest.

In an interview to Anupama Chopra, Vidya explains her Cannes Fashion wardrobe. When asked if there is an undue spotlight on fashion and glamour at the festival, Vidya says:

"I do agree with that, but that's because films are what excite me more. For someone who's a fashionista probably that aspect would excite them more. But yes, Cannes is a film festival and I'm here on the film jury and I'm making the most of that. So I'm not unduly concerned about clothes or anything of that sort. Of course when I am making a red carpet appearance, I am going to dress up. But that's just a given. I think one should enjoy all aspects of it."

When asked if she gets nervous about the reactions to her fashion choices, she says, "No, (laughs). I'm not on any social networking site and I don't even have e-mail access here, but I choose to be like that. I have no idea what they're saying about me. I just make sure now that if I look into the mirror and if I'm happy, then go with it."
