have mastered the art of starry tantrums. They are one or
two films old, but the starry tantrums of the new brigade of
Bollywood stars have already sent industry insiders in a
tizzy.
Ranveer Singh of Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) and
Ladies Vs
Vicky Bahl
(2011) fame
is known to
be leading the
list. Recently,
the 27-year-old lost out
on a
promotional
deal owing to
his tantrums.
"Ranveer did not want to appear clean-shaved
for an event, as was the requirement of the
brand and the deal fell off," says a source. And
Ranveer is not the only one losing out on work.
An insider shares that Ayushmann Khurrana,
28, who rose to fame with Vicky Donor (2012)
lost out on Sajid Nadiadwala's 2 States
because he quoted R 3 crore as remuneration.
"He was being considered for 2 States before
Arjun Kapoor. But Sajid refused to sign him, he
felt that Ayushmann doesn't warrant that
money," says an insider. Arjun Kapoor, 27, on
the other hand, has more mundane demands.
"He told us that he will not share his car with
other co-actors during the promotion of
Aurangzeb," says an insider.
However, these tantrums will only harm their
careers, feel trade insiders. "They try to copy
biggies like SRK, Salman and Aamir, but forget
that these stars have been around for decades.
They need to understand that anything negative
can go against them," says trade expert Atul
Mohan. Agrees analyst Vikas Mohan, "Handling
success is not easy. But for their own benefit, it
is important that they remain humble else not
only will their careers be adversely affected,
they will also be ignored by the media."
From the established star brigade, some of the
actors who, insiders reveal, throw tantrums
include Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor.
"Priyanka is always like 'I am a star ... I am not
supposed to do this... I'm not supposed to do
that.' And Shahid is too moody. He often insults
people on their face. And, you never know how
he will react to someone on a given day,"
shares an insider.
Parineeti Chopra: Just two films old, Parineeti,
24, is already in 'industry bad books' for turning
up late for brand endorsement shoots (a
campaign where she has replaced actor Juhi
Chawla), and also for turning up late for media
interactions.
Ayushmann Khurrana: The Vicky Donor guy
seems to have taken his awards too seriously.
He opted out of Kunal Kohli's production saying
he would only work with an A-list heroine. "This
is a clear example of a newcomer overreaching
himself. The little boy evidently thinks he is an
A-lister, whatever that means," Kohli says.
Arjun Kapoor: Insiders who remember him from
his Ishaqzaade days say that this Kapoor lad,
27, has become arrogant ever since his first
film's been a hit. "During the promotion of
Aurangzeb, he didn't even agree to share the
car with his co-actors, and even if he did, he
would always make them wait," shares an
insider.
Ranveer Singh: This Band Baaja Baaraat hero
passed a snide remark at actor Ranbir Kapoor
at a promotional event when he said,
"Rockstars die out!" And that's not all, on a
recent flight to Kolkata, he was rude to an air-hostess when she said she didn't have the non-veg fare that Singh wanted. He also lost out on
an endorsement because he didn't want to go
clean shaven.
