Chap 10

Aisha pulled Riya next to her, and both hugged each other, Aisha with fear because she almost lost Riya, while Riya with guilt because Aisha was hurt because of her.

After some time, finally Aisha said, "How long Riya? You love him? That's why everything he says hurts you deeply! Riya, he might never love you back, you know well about his past! Try to forget him Riya, please!"

"I'll try Aisha, i'll try my best to forget him! But you dont worry!" Riya promised to Aisha...

Elsewhere

A man had just stabbed another man, and left his body in an alley.

"Did you think you'd be safe and nothing would happen to you after talking about me!" the other man said, spitted at the man lying in his blood and went away, fading in the shadows on the night.

The next day

Arjun was quietly sipping his cutting chai in his office, when Rathore called everyone to the conference room. Still Arjun finished his cutting chai before going to meet Rathore. He hadn't lost his arrogance yet, he will go when he was ready.

In the conference room

Rathore was explaining to Shree and Chotu about their new case, when he suddenly asked, "Yeh Arjun kahan par hein? He doesn't even care about punctuality!"

Just then Arjun entered the conference room, both seniors glared at each other, till Shree decided to break this clash.

"Sir, i think we need to go there itself and investigate!" Shree said.

Rathore turned to look at Shree and said, "Nahin it's not necessary. Let the police handle this case, just get me that note which is for Ayesha!"

"For Ayesha!" Arjun said interested now.

"Yes, and if you had deem reached earlier you would have heard what we all were discussing about!" Rathore started.

"Yeh bhashan stop karo, and what is happening!" Arjun asked irritatedly. He knew people thought him closed, reserved and arrogant person, but deep inside he did care for his fellow team. But since long, he had learnt never to show his weakness, hence his indifference and attitude towards everyone. But he knew that Ayesha's life was in danger, and indirectly Riya's life also was at stake. He glanced at his team members, and knew then that neither of them were safe, they also could be at stake.

"Shree, why dont you tell him what is happening," Rathore said angrily, and turning towards Chotu, "Let's go to the police station for more information!" and taking Chotu away, they both went away.

The conference was completely silent, till finally Shree had the courage to tell Arjun what was wrong, "A man was murdered yesterday, he belonged to the mafia world. The hick was that there was a note addressed to Miss Ayesha of ETF."

"Was that note written by that man, or the killer? What did it contain?" Arjun asked while his mind was in deep thinking.

"Pata nahin. We can only wait for Rathore Sir to be back," Shree said and went away.

"Ruko Shree, have you talked with Ayesha? How is she feeling today?" Arjun suddenly asked.

Shree was shocked when Arjun asked about Ayesha, it was the first time Arjun appeared to be as a normal caring human being, otherwise he was only a stone hearted person.

"Hain i talked with Ri this morning, both were better," Shree said and observed the flaring eyes of Arjun when he took Riya's name. Shree didnt wanna stay here and get scolded, so he rushed away leaving Arjun.

Arjun on his hand was thinking about the one who could be after Ayesha. They had checked everything, yet they couldn't find any clues, or maybe there was too many clues to know who was really after Ayesha. Afterall they were ETF officers, so indirectly they had made a lot of enemies in their lives. "Kuch to choot raha hein," he said to himself.

After one hour

They were all in the conference room, and Rathore was reading the note aloud:

"My dear Ayesha Kapoor,

Safe and sound, how long?

Away from me, not possible

Winning against me impossible

Saving her from me, but how long?

One day shall we meet again..."

Rathore threw the note on the table angrily, "What's the meaning of this?"

"Nahin Rathore, he's openly challenging us! But what the relation of this dead guy with Ayesha?" Arjun asked.

"Dont know, maybe we should get Ayesha back and asked her," Shree said.

"Nahin, she's not well. And she's just relieved after Riya's escape. Let her get well and some rest," Rathore said after some time.

"This isn't the time to relax and wait Rathore," Arjun said furiously, "we need her to specify her relationg with this victim!"

"But still, she'd ben through so much lately!" Rathore added crossly.

"And she's also an ETF officer, not a porcelain thing. Besides she'd hate us if we dont tell her about this!" Arjun said a bit loudly.

"Arjun, i'm your chief, so i'll decide! Fine i'll go and meet her at her place and ask her!" Rathore said accepting defeat. He didnt know why but lately he didnt like and couldn't even digest that Ayesha's life was in danger. He didnt understand his feelings, but lately something was wrong with him.

"As you wish, but it would be better if we all go together," Arjun said, to which Rathore agreed.

At Riya's place

Riya got up very early on that morning, she felt very sad that she couldn't go to work. So she occupied her time somehow, she scrubbed everywhere in her house clean, and then she made breakfast for Ayesha. Hopefully Ayesha was still sleeping. Riya sat and was drinking her coffee, remembering Ayesha's words about her love for Arjun. She knew that this was really hurting her job a lot, she even realised how careless she had been yesterday, and how really she could have been killed or more, if Ayesha hadn't decided to look out of her.

She made a resolution at that time, Arjun will never love her and her love will always be a one-sided love. She had to put this part of her life in one corner of her heart, or she could resign. But resigning and not seeing Arjun would be too much for her, while seeing him everyday would also be very harsh on her.

"Oh god? Ab mein kya karoon?" she said to herself.

"You could try forgetting him. Why dont you try going out with other people, go out and have fun," Ayesha said coming into the kitchen.

"But!" Riya started, but Ayesha stopped her, "But kuch nahin! It's just an infatuation, nothing more! Go out and meet people of your age and free! It worked for me!"

Riya was going to argue on that, but one glare from Ayesha, she decided to let the matter rest for some time. They both had their breakfast and talking about other things. After that Ayesha went to lie on the couch, watching TV, while Riya looked for other places to clean, anything to get her mind off that man.

She was busy scrubbing the floor in the corridor, when she heard someone ringing the bell. She rushed to see who it was, and was shocked on seeing the whole ETF at her door.

"Aap sab yahan!" Riya said happily.

"Ri, kya hua tumhein?" Shree and Chotu said at the same time, looking at her clothes, her hair and a brush in her hands.

She was mortified that Arjun was seeing her in such light, she hadn't even bothered to be clean and no make-up also.

She blushed but still managed to say, "Ayesha is watching TV!" though no one even asked her about Ayesha.

"Hain, we have to meet her, it's urgent," Rathore said and they all entered the house.

After a few minutes, Ayesha was sitting completely in shock, and she had tears in her eyes.

"But how can this be? How can he know that he leaked this information to me! Why did he kill him," Ayesha asked in disbelief.

"Was he the one who gave you the details?" Arjun asked.

"Hain, he was the one. If he hadn't helped me, maybe Riya would have been dead!" Ayesha said shivering.

Riya sat next to Ayesha, and was busy comforting her, after everyone had left.

Outside

"Rathore, the girls wont accept it, but i think we must take this seriously! And someone must stay here to watch over them 24hrs!" Arjun said.

"Hain maybe you are right," Rathore said, really very concerned for his team members, "We'll do it on a shift basis! We have to check everyone getting in and out here, theek hein then Chotu you'll start first," Rathore said and they all left from there.
