'Saraswatichandra' will have such resemblence to the plot of 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' was not something that I had taken into account.
Mr. Bhansali rightly informed us that his team of creatives have not adapted the novel as it is and ofcourse, it wouldn't have been possible to but from where did they pick the changes from?

The Sets are lavish, every frame has a sense of grandness but it needs to be backed by a solid cast.
What's someone like Monica Bedi has been chosen for??
Any brilliant theatre actress could have played that role with so much more conviction. Why someone with the creative eye of Mr Bhansali has overlooked her limits as an actor?
And Gautam Rode, yes he's good looking, masculine but he lacks the intensity which a male protagnist in a character like this should have.
Mr Chetan Anand and Kumud's father are aptly cast and there it brings me to the only character which worked for me and for whom am going to watch the show-Kumud!
I like Jennifer but this praise is not out of bias.
We have a seen her cry a lot in her other shows and I really hope in this show offers her better!

Mr Bhansali, in these many years of watching Hindi television shows, we have seen many protagnists who are idealistic sons and daughters. We have seen many romantic love stories, but each time a promising love story knocks our door we welcome it with open arms...you're more than capable of presenting such love stories in a more dramatic way, but that drama will only be successful when its original and never before seen.
Kindly pay more attention to your ambitious and promising television venture and we promise to return just twice the affection!

The first one was quite good - I think we have to wait to see how the characters unfold as the story is told...

I think it's little early to pass a judgment on story of the show... the show resembles a lot to Hum Dil De Chuke and Devdas in terms of sets... and agreed if the story has nothing new to offer then these lavish sets, costumes can not hold the show for a long term

Gautam Rode looks a little too old for the role for me and so does Jenifer... 😳

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has always managed to bring out the best from whomever he casts, so I don't think casting could ever be a concern. He was convinced that he's cast the perfect actors for each role - that conviction is all that matters!

We don't have any TV reference to make here, because there's hardly anyone on par with him producing, however if we make comparisons to his movies: Yes, he's worked with seasoned actors like Amitabh, Shah Rukh, Salman, Ajay, Rani, Madhuri, and obviously churned out beyond-outstanding work with them. However, he's also worked with someone like Aishwarya Rai at the beginning of her career, when she was a model who was known for little to no acting skills - he delivered from her, an award-winning performance. He also managed to bring out solid performances from the newcomers in Saawariya, even the young lad in Guzaarish.

My point being: all that matters is that he has confidence and faith in those who he has chosen. The rest will flow naturally. As the maker, he's the one who should be convinced; he's the one who is going to make sure everything is wonderful :-) I have ABSOLUTE faith in him and thus in this show too!

It's ridiculous to say the show has nothing new to offer. How can a statement as such be passed so early? It's a classic story, very much loved in India. That's like saying, on the big screen, Parineeta should never have been made because Devdas was already made (multiple times).

Yes, the sets are lavish and everything looks grand. The budget is something not seen before on Indian TV but that doesn't take away from the fact that content&quality-wise it assures brilliance too!

Just because the story has, what has over the years become, the perfect ingredients for an Indian serial, does not mean it should not be made! In fact, that means it makes even more sense for it to be made!!!!

Agree that it is too early to conclude that SC is HDDCS or DEvdaas mini version or remix or watever. We shud give SLB a chance to prove his mettle as a TV show maker n then conclude.
But GR looks old for the role this i disagree. The guy looks like he is around 25-28 n he is above 35!!
GR is doing a fab job as Saraswatichandra, N same for Jen. She is amazing!! Yeah she does look mature (not old) but she is perfect as kumud!!

I totally agree with the casting comments. Not sure if Monica is the right person... As for the resemblance I don't mind it much
