Emotionally damaged , psychologically warped and verbally challenged - there is not much that you can expect from Asad Ahmed Khan when it comes to expressing what he feels on the softer side. Haan, gusse mein chaahe khade khade aap ki poori biography likhh daalein, but emotions are not really his thing and i don't think that will ever change except for those little gestures, smiles, smirks, fierce protection and those intense outbursts that happen once in a while.
Personally, i LOVE that 'Main duniyaa jahaan ka khacchar aadmee hoon' look that Zoe manages to get on his face everytime she proves him wrong , throws him a high-headed angular look and walks off like the queen of the world. And today was not different either. Asad for the 'nth time' realized that he had been a total Jackass Jahaanpanah to his Mallika E Begum and well, when an apology is needed, it should be given - no matter how you manage it.
Zoe may have shown all the am-the-queen attitude to Asad when Asad lost the BCA battle to her but that was again a brave front. She came back to her room and the puppy in the rain mode came back - why he always repeats the same mistake? Is that how he thinks am really as a person? He screams and howls at me at the drop of a hat as though am written in his inheritance legacy. This is when Asad comes to see her - having stepped down from his high throne - embarrassed, apologetic ( for the nth time again since he seems to prove that pakke bartan ko kabhii jodh nahiin lagtaa) and with a material expression of that apology...
"I am sorry. Please accept my apology."
And the 'bickering old married couple' as 4Lions calls them had to prove it to you that they have been married since time immemorial. Zoe let out all the angst , anger and heartbreak on Asad - all that she wanted to tell him when he had screamed at her came out now because his 'sorry' and her being proven innocent gave her the edge over him - she knows that when she howls, even Asad shuts up and listens to her.
Asad listened, listened , listened... ok, Miss.Faarooqui is not gonna stop. I should leave. He quietly kept the giftbox , wrapped in her favourite blue colour and walked away. Few words. Honest emotions. Quiet retreat - staying true to the Asad that he is . Galtee ho gayee, uskko badalne ke liye kucch nahiin kiyaa jaa saktaa, sorry bol diyaa, abb ye verbal bashing chaltee rahegi , limited words the , kotaa khatam ho gayaa - abb main zaraa ghoomne chalaa jaata hoon.
Zoe turned back and Asad was not there. Like many times before this. Maybe this will happen for real someday. She will turn around and Asad will not be there - maybe still being her wonderwall from some corner but not with her. This has happened before also. Zoe is talking her heart out and Asad retreats quietly into nothingness - doing his bit for her but from the shadows.
I think the gift was a giant leap for Asad because he gave it to her not because it was 'ritual' , he gave it because he 'felt it' - just like he had slipped that ring on her finger at the airport. Asad is inexpressive to the point of being labeled a psychological disorder case - he has not even hugged his Mom and Sister in his life - maybe Dilshoo but my memory fails me. But for Zoe, he has always taken giant steps - from learning to say sorry, admitting that he can be at fault , doing little sweet things like a cheesecake or trying to find her father's address and many more. Today, he willingly and with heart gifted her something which , if you think about it , was not an apology exactly but an excuse to go and say sorry to her. The note only said the following:
"Aapko ek baar saari mein dekhaa tha, aap bahot khoobsoorat lag raheen theen".
Shortest love letter that i have ever seen on Indian TV and no apology - pure sentiment translated into few words. A lovely blush pink saari and the colour ran upto Zoe's cheeks. It takes just one sign of sentiment, softness and sensitivity from Asad to light up Zoe's eyes and calm her soul.
And as usual, with the Princess Treatment returned to her , she was back to her gol-gappa avatar - chatting away to glory , clearly seeing how Asad is 50% amused and 50% annoyed - but knowing that the edge is back with her and she can do as she pleases. Asad's expressions on Zoe's 'chudail ki kahaani' were adorable - just like your husband's when you are telling him about your maayeke ki kahaani at the dinner table.
Tanveer? Do i feel bad for her? That in front of her all the Khans were passing comments, making fun of her stone eye and cracking jokes on her disability? Maybe i do. Yes, its Karma but its also the permanent flaw that she lives with. I have said this before and i know its unlikely that it will happen in the show , but i don't want an ugly end to Tannu. I hope she finds redemption someday - pay with a pound of flesh for what she is doing to Asad and Zoe but emerge as the 10 year old Tannu whom Asad and Dilshad adored so much.
Moving on to Badi Bii, its becoming increasingly difficult for me to respect her and that has nothing to do with my love for Razia. Humeira! I totally love this girl and who won't?Flawless. Fragile.Pure. Virginal - how can you have the heart to manipulate her innocence for your own means? Go and defeat Razia but at your own merit. Does Badii Bii realize the trauma that she is causing Humzie just so that Razia suffers?
Why does everyone USE Humzie in this story? Razia and Ayaan were striking 1 crore deals over Humzie. Tannu tried to murder Humzie to trap Zoe and destory Razia. Now, Badii Bii is manipulating and using Humzie with such malice! How different is it from Razia using Ayaan? Oh, i will tell you rightaway! At least, Ayaan KNOWS that Razia is using him.
I officially hate the way everyone uses Humzie as a tool or tramples over her for their own ulterior motives. If anyone causes any more hurt to Humzie, be it anyone , i repeat anyone, am gonna lose all my respect for that character - no matter who he or she is.
Lastly, jo Raabert hai, wo Raabert hi rahe. Lion banne ki koshish na kare. Kyunki Lion ek hi hai. Ayaan has never done anything to win my favours and i have cringed at the way he has consciously treated Humzie as a 1crore deal. Rishabh's exit did give Ayaan the saving face of going and praying at Dargah for her but... BUT... if he ever does anything to hurt Humzie again, then, i am done with him. Jo waada kiyaa hai aap use nibhaayein , ussi mein behetari hai. He better be nice to Humzie when he is back tomorrow.Monaa ne itnaa badaa lecture maara tha - kucch to faayeda honaa chaahiye.
Precap: I am a fierce soulmate shipper, both on and off screen. So, i don't care if a person looks good with Ian Somerhalder , Megan Fox, a horse , a rodent or a painting on a wall. You go where your heart, home and soul is. People can create chemistry with a wall also and that does not make a relationship. Deal with it.
