Episode 267 Discussion: 9th May 2013

Welcome to the Episode discussion thread which we call as Viewer's and Reader's Respite. That's very apt, don't you think ? 😉. And that proves our objective.

Objective behind the thread is

It helps in keeping the forum clean without much litter. People just need to fall in a habit.
We can have it like breathers at first followed by analysis.
It also helps like-minded souls and pals bond and gel together to drop in their thoughts for themselves as breathers and for their friends as a peep into the episode and for others to post their reviews.
And those from different time-zones, who do not get to watch the episode at this time of telecast (Indian 8:30 PM), without any worry to trace or keep track of all their buddy's posts, they can come here, read with leisure and later post their analysis after watching it from their Time zones.

Extremist thoughts and moralizing thoughts are not welcome over this thread. It is entertainment show we are watching. The channel calls their programs as entertainment and we are watching the show. Discussions are welcome in light hearted and in realistic manner. Moral policing is not appreciated. We do not want to feel stifled into that kind of atmosphere here.

There are several other social welfare sites that are there to discuss the genuine issues. If for some reason, it is felt that social concerns have to be addressed and ethical and moral responsibility needs to be exercised for watching entertainment, then; certainly the forum is an open place to create separate ATs and build up that kind of propaganda.

Please heed to this as direct request and conditional requirement to participate in this thread. Strong words such as psychopaths unless used in show, need not be used to instigate riotous atmosphere or start sermonizing.

POINTERS for Writing/Posting of your reviews and thoughts over this EDT

Do not litter the thread with chit-chat conversations. A little is permitted to have the friendly atmosphere, but when you feel like chatting more, it is desired you take your conversation with your buddies to alternate venues like chat clubs, pm mode etc.
Quoting Policy: It is desired that people refrain from single, double, triple and multiple quoting of posts on a repetitive basis. They can pick out the parts that they like to quote as opposed to quoting the entire post. It is often seen that we have to scroll through the pages when all they have done is quoting and more quoting with one line response to the actual post. IF has a rule that more than three times quoting is not allowed. But nowadays as people read IF posts over phone, it is preferred that people do not quote longer posts and just extract the portions of the post that they like to respond to and if they still find it relevant to their thought process then get the entire quoted text.
Regulate the font size. Keep remembering that. It is really not pleasing to see big bolded letters for no special reason.
The thread becomes a mess when you give your review and do not REST for sometime until others have posted. Please understand, respites or reviews; once or twice are good for few pages...don't make a regular chat thread with your reiterating/whining/complaining on the same point. For the online readers, the thread becomes unpleasant read. There is a separate Complaints thread in Main Forum.
When episodic content is emotional, take a deep breath, give a good lengthy review; that acts as your vent in one single post...and make an exit to calm down your nerves if you still are possessed by only what you've seen.

Episode 267 discussion - EOD Summary

Madhu's private humilation by RK at home, Dipali ke sazish ka parda farsh, Dipali shows mirror to RK , turns table on Madhu revealing Madhu meeting with Sultan at the mall, challenges Madhu to retaliate.

Events Of The Episode

1. RK drags Madhu home and questions her what did she achieve by inviting Sultan to his party. He wonders aloud whether he is coming between the 2 lovers. Madhu repeatedly tells him to trust her that she does not know who invited Sultan but her pleas fall on deaf ears. RK further accuses her that just like she was involved in her father's attack on him a while back, this time also she is with Sultan to kill him. This stuns Madhu completely and she is speechless. Radha however is defending Madhu's trust but RK says he does not trust her at all. Dipali and Sikki watch smirking.

2. Madhu meanwhile takes her phone back from RK and correctly retraces her steps and squarely points at Dipali. RK instantly puts the pieces together and zeros in on Dipali. He threatens Sikki with injury to his head with a vase which prompts Sikki to own to his role in this sazish and he clarifies Dipali's role in actually sending SMS using Madhu's phone. RK is furious and BBBs Dipali accusing her to put shaq in his mind about Madhu. He further states blatantly that he trusts Madhu and she has deleted Sultan from her phone and his life.

3. Dipali pounces on these words and turns the table on RK showing him the mirror. She challenges him that where was his trust when he humiliated Madhu in the party. He will always be supsicious of everything Madhu does so he needs to listen to his heart. She further assures him that she is with him and not against him. RK takes up her words about listening to his heart and declares that his heart wants Sikki and Dipali to be out of his house in next 8 hours otherwise he will throw them off of the terrace and they would spend next 15 days in the hospital.

4. Alarmed at the prospect of losing this abode and RK's vicinity, Dipali quickly reveals to him that since Dipali saw Madhu with Sultan in the mall, she took that opportunity to invite Sultan so that she can expose Madhu to him and Radhaji. She informs that Madhu is playing some kind of game with RK and goads Madhu to speak to refute this claim. Can she deny that she met Sultan in the mall? RK does not believe Dipali and asks Madhu to answer and deny this allegation. Madhu however remains mum, closing her eyes with serious face. Dipali keeps goading with a gloating feeling, tension builds and episode ends.

GRPs last week:
Most channels did better this week compared to last week. Max and Zee dropped, Max now shares its number 1 ranking with Star Plus.

Colors increased marginally by 1% compare to last week, and is now at 166 GRP. Several of Color's shows did worse than last week.
The TRP Travails:
Post-IPL start of April 3rd, TRPs for most shows have been been somewhat stabilizing. However, quite disappointing news on the MB TRP front. MB dropped to #9 from #7 last week and #4 the week before. TRPs for MB this week were 2.4, lower than the last three weeks of 2.7, see chart below:

Note: does not take into consideration impact of adding new markets at various points. Size of these markets, viewing patterns, demographics, level of digitization etc. of those markets would impact TRPs. Also, hard to judge IPL's exact impact.
I will repeat what I said last week. The issue or challenge that I see with this downward sloping trend is that it indicates the loyal viewer base is being continuously eroded, and it is going to be really hard for the show to win back these viewers once they have left.

Colors and ST should be quite concerned at this stage. The 8:30 p.m. prime slot that the show occupies is too important for them to be experimenting with for way too long. Maybe its time to pragmatically review the strategy of clinging on to a track that - based on recent empirical evidence - seems to be a dud.

And then finally, a comparison to other top 10 shows. The chart below which shows TRP increase/drop from last week indicates a truly mixed bag - half the shows did better or were the same as the week prior. Of the shows that dropped, only one had a bigger drop than MB. The blue bars are the ones that did better, the red are the ones that did worse, and the no bars are the ones that were the same.

PS: all my usual caveats apply - this is a rough analysis etc etc. Feel free to point out the holes (I freely admit there's probably some!)

Woah! Allegations and counter allegations.

I felt that the whole episode was similar to a tennis rally. RK to Madhu. Back to RK who sends Dipali who forwards it to Madhu. Madhu sends a fast one Dipali and Sikky and scores a point. RK then starts all over again this time playing against Dipali and Sikky loosing badly to Dipali who scores easily. Dipali then gets another point by throwing the ball in Madhu's court so completely.

And in all this -- RK gets nothing at all. Everyone played him .. Kaccha khiladi indeed.

Why is it that she always manages to show RK the mirror? She raises the questions which I am sure even Madhu was happy hearing .. untill she went on to reveal Madhu's meeting with Sultan at the mall. It was definitely her day. Minor (major) setbacks are nothing to a seasoned gamer like her .. though the precap suggests that Madhu is able to turn the tables on her.

Radhaji -- such absolute trust and belief in her daughter-in-law. I shudder to think of her reaction to the climax of Madhu's revenge. This woman will be so utterly shaken and maybe broken. Will she ever trust Madhu again, then?

RK -- I have no idea what he is doing. He swings from one extreme to the other so easily. I can't believe that he placed the entire blame on Dipali and Sikky without considering the role he played in the fiasco that was the party. Dipali and Sikky, in fact anyone, can only build upon his doubts not create them. They can feed his insecurity not make it.

Madhu -- I hope she sees the problems Sultan is creating. And I hope she noted Radhaji's trust in her. If she intends on doing this revenge properly, she had better be prepared for complete breaking of all these relationships.

ETA: If Madhu were to leave RK (after taking revenge .. not in the following episode) .. don't you peeps think that Radhaji/Bittoji will still support her? Dipali/Sikky will be happy. And Madhu doesn't seem to care about the society at large. Unless they find out that Madhu was lying to them all along, Radhaji and Bittooji will think that RK drove Madhu away with his doubts, insecurities and madness.

Today's episode started well with a heart warming display of trust in Madhu by Radhaji.

Madhu tried to retrace her steps, trying to figure out how the message might have been sent from her phone. And comes up with aha - the real culprit. I totally loved that RK did not even hesitate when Madhu brought that up. Almost like he was waiting for any excuse to let Madhu off the hook. And then continued to support her when Dips said that she didn't pick up the phone. 🤣 on RK's 412 haddi pieces dialogue with Sikky.

Radhaji is shocked, deeply shocked by Dips treachery. That is why you need to take those rose-tinted blinkers off, Radhaji.

Madhu had a pot calling kettle black look when RK says to Dips that even after such a huge betrayal, Dips couldn't even say sorry.

Oh oh, RK thinks that Madhu has broken all ties to Sultan. Not good. Revelation - that Madhu had deleted Sultan's name from her phone contact list. RK declares that his Madhu doesn't hide anything from him (except for some key things, RK.) And that he trusts her implicitly.

Dipali shows him the mirror - questions what happened to the so-called trust just a little while ago when he humiliated Madhu in public. And talks about unwarranted suspicion, as well as excessive trust.

Clever clever Dips brings up the mall meeting. RK begs Madhu to say its not so.

All in all, was kind of glued to the screen, with that continuous back and forth. And hard to stay mad at RK, when he looks so deliciously groovy.

I love you Deepali 🤗 You are a star ⭐️ Thank you thank you for showing RK the mirror the way nobody else can 😃 And exposing Satyabala's secret meetings with Sultan 😛 Also thank you for being stupid enough to get exposed so easily 😈

Loved how everybody was exposed today. Madhu knows RK still doesn't trust her even after the jumping from terrace stunt. RK knows for sure that his suspicions were not unfounded. Radhaji knows how sanskaari both her bahus are 😆 She already knew what hopeless cases both her sons are. Hail Sikky - willing to dump Deepali to save his own skin 🤣

Full on entertaining episode today 👍🏼

PS. I have been noticing that the episodes directed by P. Gavandi are usually more entertaining than those directed by Amit D. Malik. He had directed the Holi episodes and then RK bringing Madhu back forcibly. After that Amit Malik had taken over. Today's episode was again P. Gavandi.

Surprisingly, i found the episode really engaging. I was actually completely depressed and posted in most posts mourning Rishbala😆. Today, there were no actual Rishbala scenes, but the drama was gripping, have to admit.

Agree with Angeena...it was like a tennis match.

Advantage RK:

We start off with Righteous Kameena dragging Madhu home, and accusing her of colluding with Sultan to kill him, just like she once did with her father...arre, where did that come from??? Of course he also asks her if he is the third wheel in the love story between Sultan and Madhu.

Advantage madhu:

In the course of the convo, madhu remembers her lost mobile, and recollects those few minutes , from colliding with Dipali to missing her phone. RK whose tube light suddenly works, turns around to see a flustered Dipali, guilty Sikky. It does'nt take him 2 seconds to get the truth out of Sikky. He BBB's Dipali, adding that he trusts madhu more than himself. It seems she had deleted Sultan's number from her mobile...whatever.

Ahaa,,,Advantage Dipali:

Dipali pounces on him, and his trust on Madhu👏, showing a much needed mirror to RK. She questions him on his public humiliation of Madhu, when he says he trusts her. She actually tells him a lot of home truths about himself that Madhu cannot help but agree with. She warns him to be careful with madhu, because she is also playing a game. She then tells everybody that she saw madhu meeting Sultan at the mall. She questions Madhu, who remains silent. RK is stunned, so is Radhaji. MAdhu is caught in a quandary.

So in all, a gripping, fast paced episode. It felt good to see various guilty parties getting their due, which means almost all of them😆.
It is sad to see Madhu's eyes look calculating and shifty in turns😕. Madhu is silent but she will give it as good as she gets...her silences during confrontations usually mean she will have the last word yet.
RK - today completely frazzled and shaken, serves you right, sweetheart😡. Why is it that you never ever think you could have done anything wrong in your life, when everything that is going on, is your doing?? Ab bhugto, you sow the seeds that you reap.

Pre-cap: Made me think, and somewhat surprised me, RK does have a heart after all. He actually looked unhappy / uncomfortable to have Sikky fall at his feet. But have to watch the episode to clarify.

its just strange how strikingly similar RK n deepali are! also how similar Rk n madhu are! BUT deepali and madhu are exact opposite...which means two opposites reside in RK!

back to episode review...

i loved the episode! paisa vasool episode!

dont throw chappals at me if i say that i loved deepali more than RK!

(i didnt know i wud say this someday!!!!😆)

i was laughing at RK for whatever he was saying to deepali...this man has guts!😆 such a kid!

Have you ever seen a thriller where you find out each character was doublecrossing...triple crossing each other for some big box for money...leaves you shocked and amazed ...right? You wonder how you could not have seen this coming?

Now take that scenario a step further and imagine that the prize is not money but revenge and assuaging egos...how do you feel now? Me...I feel sick and ready to puke.

That is how I felt when I saw today's episode...the drama was gripping...the dialogues stellar...the acting amazing...but the soul...it was ugly...I felt sick at how low everyone has fallen in this fight for something intangible. The characters once unmasked were sickening and that included everyone from Madhu to RK. Everyone is justified in thier own way in thier stands but when you look at the big picture...it fills your heart with sorrow and hopelessness.

RK is brilliant when it comes to putting truth together but he is so blind to his actions and consequences. He blames Dips for being unapologetic for her actions but is guilty of the same. He is constantly wavering between trust and distrust unable to figure out what to do? His heart wants to believe Madhu but his gut tells him she is no longer trustworthy. He lashes back so badly that he even blames Madhu for something he knows she did not do...but when he sees first hope of giving Madhu an out ...he jumps on it. He wants to take a leap of faith but he knows that if he is betrayed this time...he will never return back with any speck of humanity left intact in him. His fear of impending pain is just too great. For once his gut seems to be right because all signs do point to the fact that Madhu is determined to betray him.

Radha...I love the fact that you trust your Madhu so much but there is something to be said for blind faith. I understand that you believe in Madhu's goodness because she saved your son but then let me remind you that your son put his life in danger to save her and her mother only to betray them later. I understand that you want to remain blind to the fact that you yourself were concerned with Madhu's closeness with Sultan at one point and Paddy seemed to have hinted that she had moved on...yet today you do not feel even a twinge of doubt...not even when you connect the apshakun at pooja with all that is happenning. Did it not seem odd to you that the girl who wanted to walk away from your son's life was whispering sweet nothings in his ears at breakfast table only a couple of hours later and btw your son is no hypnotist or magician. You are setting for yourself for a world of pain...If you think your ex-husband betrayed you ...your husband and stepson are wastrels...your son is a black sheep and your your elder DIL is snake...you have no idea what your idealistic DIL is set out to do...she will put everyone to shame when she is done. You have my sympathies in advance.

Dips: I love you...I really do...You are evil but you are smart and strong...when caught in your lies...you face the music with pride but not before you put everyone in thier places. I can see today why you want RK so much...he would have never ditched you like Sikky did...he would have risked a broken head rather than give you away. You do love RK at some level ...don't you...you hate the fact that some one like Madhu is playing a game with him and while he looks bad despite being the victim ...she comes out smelling of roses. All you want is to protect him from an another heartbreak. Because if you were just jealous and wanted him for your own then you would have wanted Madhu to tear him apart while you stood in shadows waiting to pick up the pieces.

Sikky: Sikky ...my man...I am so disappointed in you...you ditched your wife just because your stepbrother was threatening you...really! and then you wonder why she does not give you the time of day. I hear you are going to embarass her further tomorrow when you beg your stepbrother to let you stay back even if that means leaving your wife on streets destitute. Where is the backbone when you need one?

Madhu:I have no idea what is going on in that pretty head of yours but based on your facial expressions ...it is nothing good. I have so many questions but no answers from you...

1)Do you love RK? Did you ever love RK? If yes then why can't you judge his lies and sense his dilemma...if not why are you so mad?

2)Do you care for Sultan? If yes in what capacity? Does it not occur to you that the guy is mooning after you? I mean which friend does what he does for you?

3)Are you planning revenge? Is it really worth selling your soul for a minute of pleasure?

4)What do you want from life? RK? ...Sultan and Aryan?...peace?...love?...power? because based on your actions I am not sure where you are headed.

I saved the best for the last...My five minute rant...I have no idea where CVs are taking the show...this was supposed to be "phantom of the opera"...instead it became "beauty and the beast" but now it is turning out to be some unpalatable mixture of "othello" and "war of the roses". I watch TV for entertainment and not to be disgusted. If I need to see thriller there are ample better ones on american tv. If the show does not introduce some positive elements soon...I will stick to written recaps until I can get deaddicted completely or maybe I will go cold turkey.

On a different note I fail to see why it is so hard to build a track that gels with backstories and furthermore why are CVs so determined to undo every piece of beautiful moment we have seen so far. I was already questioning Madhu's selfless love and today I began to question RK's judgement and his moments of humanity. You do realize that they form the foundation of the story...you take those things apart and the entire storyline crashes.

While we are it...let me tell you ...I am waiting for you to show me that Madhu never fell in love with RK. All her love was fake...all her goodness was a show to lead RK to a fullfledged marraige and then run off with his money leaving him high and dry and joke of the town. Unfortunately RK had one up on her when he ditched her first...so she has had to start all over again. He anger stems not from the fact that she was betrayed but the fact that she lost the first round. After all if we need to deconstruct everything and nothing is sacred...why not start where it all began?
