A Silence Sets In Between Them……

Sophie: [Suddenly Pops Out A Question Breaking The Silence] Aap Pyar Pe Vishwas Nahi Karthi Na??

Reshu is silent for a few minutes and then smiles weakly…..

Sophie knew that there was much more pain than what she had expected in Reshu's life….

The lady before her was complex and so was her past and her sorrows……She mentally prepared herself for hearing Reshu's life….

Reshu spoke up after a few more seconds, "pyar ke seva kuch aur sochthi hi nahi thi…..par ab, pyar naam se hi chidh hoti hai.ek nafrat hoti hai…..pyar ne mujhe itna dard diya hai ke ab pyar se darr lagtha hai….but irony ki baat yeh hai ke jisse pyar kiya usse kabhi nafrat nahi kar paayi….aur naa kar paavungi….unne bhoolna aur nafrat karna iss janam mein toh possible nahi hai…..and that makes things even more worse Sophie…...ek ek din beethna mushkil hota hai aur uphar se Mita ke sawaalon se bacchna bhi…aaj bhi ussne apne papa ke baare mein poocha…."

Sophie: kaun hai woh didi? Kya unne patha hai ke aap aur Mita…

Reshu snaps her short, "mujhe nahi patha ke unne kya patha hai aur kya nahi Sophie….bas itna patha hai ke unne humaare koyi zaroorat nahi hai…aur shaayad ab humein bhi unnki….." [Her words trail off]

Sophie: didi, mujhe lagtha hai ke aap ko ek baar unnse milna chahiye….shaayad woh bhi aapko miss kar rahe ho aur waapas apne life mein…..

Reshu: nahi Sophie….unnone khud jaane ka decision liya tha….woh bhi mujhse kuch kahe behair…..ek baar bhi waapas mudh kar nahi dekha…..humaare beech sab kuch khatam hogaya hai….ab dobaara lautna naa mumkin hai…[letting a deep sigh]..its all over now!

Sophie: didi, aapke hoton ne sab khatam kar liya par aapke dil aur dimaag ab bhi umeedh karthi hai ke ek din woh laut kar aayenge…hai na???…..

Reshu tries to refuse it when Sophie adds, "Mita ke baare mein bhi sochiye na…..aapne hi kaha na ke woh apne papa ke baare mein poochthi rehthi hai!"

Reshu tries to switch the topic…."meri chodo..ab tum apni bathao…."

Sophie: aap baat ko gumaa rahe ho didi….[but she knew that it wasn't easy to change Reshu's mind…]….khair…..meri kya hai? ek free bird hoom…..jabse yaad hai tab se ek church ki orphanage mein thi……wahaan ke inmates, aur sisters hi meri family hai….Jesus ne saat diya, aur padaayi mein bhi acchi thi…..church ke through hi iss convent mein teaching job bhi milgayi…..aur ab yahaan…..

Reshu: [trying to take in the pains in Sophie's life which she made sound to easy and happy] aur pyar?

Sophie: kya mujh jaise orphan ko pyar karne ka haq hai?? agar hai bhi toh kabhi usski zaroorat mehsoos nahi hui! Jaise aapne kahaa, mujhe bhi pyar se ek chidh hai didi….though I don't show it out…..love stories padhne mein sunne mein mazaa toh bohat aatha hai par real life mein it really sucks na? main bhi kisi ke toote hua pyar ki nishaani hi hoom na??? Aur wahaan uss orphanage ke baaki bacche bhi….

Reshu couldn't disagree to whatever she said….yes she was right…..Love sucks big time…..

Sophie gathered up from her lost state and responded, "par phir bhi, Mita baby keliye, I suggest you try once talking it out didi…aap dono ke beech kya hua tha, yeh mujhe nahi patha..but nothing to lose na? and if you win, you can give her a beautiful complete family…..papa, mamma dono ka saat milna, its such a beautiful feeling didi……jinnke paas nahi hote, wahi samajh sakthe hai ke aisa bachpan kitna mushkil hota hai…..Mita ke haalat main samajh sakthi hoom…. Isiliye keh rahi hoom….ho sakhe toh usse ek poora pariwaar zaroor dena….

Sophie bid good night and walked to her room…..

Reshu stood there, her mind still lingering in those last few words of Sophie and pondering over it….complete family, mamma papa aur mita…..saat hone ka ehsaas, khushiyaan….kya yeh sab possible hai?? kya aap bhi yeh chahthe ho? Kya aap mere liye ab bhi wait kar rahe ho??

Miles away…..Mumbai…

"Shona tum kahaan ho? jahaan kahi bhi chupi ho, pls mere paas waapas aa jaao….ek aakhri chance deh dho mujhe…..I promise, main tumhe koyi shikaayat ka maukha nahi dhoonga….aur humaara baccha….I will be the best dad…..come back to me….plzz"

Sameer mindlessly spoke to Reshu's photo in his hand…..

Months flew by……

It was one of those free weekends and those were Arjun and Riya's private time……it was their routine to drive to the beach house for an over night stay……

Riya was as usual waiting in her office for Arjun to pick her up and as usual he was late….….but Riya waited patiently as she knew about Arjun's hectic work and irregular timings! Once in a case, he couldn't get out till it was solved and she understood his pressures well!

Manav was at his desk too and observing her closely….

As she got a message from Arjun, she smiled…..she got up and walked out……Manav also followed her and caught up with her….

"Rukho Riya….."

Riya turned to see who it was…."tum??"

Manav: haan…main kitne din se tumse akele baat karne ki khoshish kar raha tha….aur tum hokhe mujhe avoid karthi ho….

Riya: Manav….maine bhi kitne baar kaha ke mujhe inn sab baatein mein koyi interest nahi hai...aur waise bhi agar maine Arjun se yeh sab kahaa toh….

"Darling, tumne yaad kiya aur lo main aa gaya….." Arjun walked into the lobby…..

He saw manav near Riya and spoke up with a smile, "Manav, thanks dude…[Manav looked at him enquiringly when Arjun replied]..mere biwi ko company dene keliye aur usske body guard banne keliye…[Manav glanced at Riya once when Arjun added]….par usske aage kuch nahi……aisa kuch matth karna jisske wajeh se tumhe baadh mein patchtaana pade…[glaring at him for a long moment and then adds]….samjhe ya samjhaavum?

Manav silently nodded…..Arjun wrapped his arm around Riya and escorted her away to the car bidding bye to him….

Soon they were driving towards their favorite sea side restaurant for dinner….

Riya: aap bhi na Arjun…uss bechaare ko daraa diya?

Arjun: daraaya?? Kab?? Kaise??

Riya: [rolling her eyes] ab baniye matth….."Samjhe ya samjhaavum"….yeh ek line se criminals hi darr jaathe hai….phir Manav kya cheez hai!

Arjun: ohhh…like that….phir kya kartha??? Woh ladka ek chance nahi chodtha tumpe line maarne ka….isiliye samjhaana padaa…..

Riya hit his hand playfully and smiled…..

After a silent romantic dinner and then a stroll at the beach under the moon light, holding hands, they decide to head back to their private space….

A few days before…..a cool morning in Himachal…..

Reshma is getting dressed for her school and also packing Mita's school bag when she sees a application form for the identity card in it….

"Mita…..tumne kal hi mujhse yeh form kyun nahi barrwaaya??? Oh god, mujhe hi check karna chahiye tha….."

The previous evening, Mita, Reshu and Sophie had gone for a outing and dinner…..so they came home late and Reshu didn't have the time to check her school bag and diary!

She sits down and quickly fills in all the details…..she fills everything except for Father's name…..

Mita looks into the form and points at the blank space….."yahaan papa ke naam barrna hai na??"

Reshu was lost for words….but then she looked at the little girl and nodded….."haan beta…."

Mita: toh aap kyun nahi likh rahi ho?? Bathaao na mamma, mere papa ka naam kya hai?

Reshu let a deep sigh and tried to spell it out but it felt as if the name struck in her throat…..

But she gathered herself and bent down to write the name and simultaneously spelled it out "Sameer Rathod"
