Harry Potter star casts his 14m spell on the rich list

As Harry Potter, his magical powers enable him to fly, vanish and breathe under water. In real life, actor Daniel Radcliffe has pulled off an equally impressive trick - by conjuring up a personal fortune of 14 million. At just 17, Radcliffe is the youngest person to appear in the latest edition of the Sunday Times Rich List, which catalogues the country's top 5,000 millionaires. His estimated wealth has shot up by 8 million in the past year thanks to an increased pay deal and royalties. And with the fifth film in the series due out next year, Radcliffe's extraordinary bank balance can only swell further, without so much as an Engorgement Charm in sight. The youngest woman on the list, which has been updated for publication in book form, is singer Joss Stone, who is worth an estimated 6 million at the age of 19. She has amassed her fortune from sales of her two albums, Soul Sessions and Mind, Body And Soul. More cash has come from a brief modelling deal with Gap, and she hopes a cameo in fantasy film Eragon will help launch a movie career. For as Radcliffe has already shown, it is an even more lucrative business than music. Philip Beresford, who compiled the list, said of the actor: "He is still at school but he is in a position where he will never have to work again. "Money has been pouring in to his personal company, largely from royalties he is paid every time the films are shown on TV. "He may also have negotiated a share of the profits from the films or a share of the merchandising money. "If he wants to go to university, we can safely say he won't need to worry about a student loan." While Harry Potter keeps his inherited fortune in the vaults of Gringotts bank, Radcliffe's cash is channelled into Gilmore Jacobs, the company set up for him by his parents Alan, a literary agent, and Marcia Gresham, a casting director. Elsewhere, the list shows Roman Abramovich, the Russian who owns Chelsea FC, has increased his fortune by more than 3 billion in the last year, from 7.5 billion to 10.8 billion. But he is still only the country's second richest man, behind 13.2 billion steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal. The Queen is down to 15th in the top 100 wealthiest women, with 300 million, behind Harry Potter author JK Rowling (520 million) and Lady Green, who with her retail mogul husband Sir Philip is worth 4.9 billion.

David and Victoria Beckham are football's wealthiest couple with an estimated 87 million, but Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin are slowly gaining on them with 20 million, up from 6 million last year.
